Synopsis

Richard Plantagenet has dedicated his whole life to becoming strong enough to fight alongside his father, the Duke of York. Together they have waged war to reclaim the right to the throne of England from King Henry VI and the House of Lancaster. However, the young Richard hides a secret—one that his mother scorns him for, which the cruel voices in his head never fail to remind him of. Even amid his personal turmoil, he is fortunate to find solace in the light of his father's love. But when the War of the Roses takes a turn for the bloodier, the fervent ambitions of Richard grow while his old loyalties splinter, threatening to taint his family's path to glory.

Background

Baraou no Souretsu was originally set to premiere in October 2021, but was delayed to January 2022 due to production issues. The series was released on Blu-ray in four volumes from March 29, 2022 to September 28, 2022.

This anime, or rather this story, is simply an art piece. It's told as such, it's shown as such, it's supposed to be experienced as one, it cries and bleeds as such. It's meant to be art, it's meant to be complicated, its meant to cause all kinds of mixed feelings and emotions, so keep that in mind.

The theme of "Requiem of the rose king" is what caught my attention initially. Won't lie - was deeply intrigued by what would happen next, how a person of such nature would survive in the given world/era, presented in the anime. Richard is very different from most ...

Here is my review of this anime in 2022!

Story (5)
The story is about a war between 2 kingdoms. But the problem is that the main character has 2 genders and is called a demon since it's like taboo. The story becomes interesting when they are starting the war and a lot of event such as traitors, discovery, etc. But I don't really like it since there is a lot of drama rather than action in my opinion.

This wasn't great - the animation was very poor, often being one still that's just zoomed in and out of, and I just really didn't care for it. The story and characters weren't enough to bring this back for me either. The whole thing was just kind of dull and I struggled to pay attention to this and actually finish it. Couple that with some weird time jumps and repetition and I wasn't having the best of times. Hopefully the manga will have more to offer, but this definitely wasn't a great adaptation and I'm surprised it managed to go for 24 episodes.
