Violet Evergarden Movie

Several years have passed since the end of The Great War. As the radio tower in Leidenschaftlich continues to be built, telephones will soon become more relevant, leading to a decline in demand for "Auto Memory Dolls." Even so, Violet Evergarden continues to rise in fame after her constant success with writing letters. However, sometimes the one thing you long for is the one thing that does not appear.

Violet Evergarden Movie follows Violet as she continues to comprehend the concept of emotion and the meaning of love. At the same time, she pursues a glimmer of hope that the man who once told her, "I love you," may still be alive even after the many years that have passed.

I love this anime! Words can't describe all the emotions I got from this. It's way too more that i learnt through for life. Taught me to control emotions and work towards life deeds. Like ghibli movie's saying that love is actually two person inspiring each other to work and letting them live life knowing how hard life is... Similarly here the protagonists are. This anime showcases all of the quality that a slice of life genre could have. It made heart melt and warm. It teaches you how to regulate your feelings and how long to be disciplined for life line. All of the ... characters shows pretty good progression. Story plots are amazing with the letter's fonts. Graphical edition is awesome. It's very much pleasing to eyes. Every episode, ova, special movie everything is absolutely lovely. Must watch!

Mixed Feelings

I am new to anime and I recently watched the show Violet Evergarden. I consider it to be a remarkable 10/10 show because of the emotional impact it had on me, and a lot of that came from seeing Violet's journey and development - overall I was very happy with the conclusion the anime show provided for Violet.

Of course we always want to see more of a great thing, that is only human nature, but we should only see more if it remains respectful to what came before...

VE: The Movie is beautifully animated, in fact I can safely say this movie ... showcases the best animation and art that I have ever seen in an animated show or movie. The voice acting is also passionate and expertly performed, I watched with English dubs, and the music is beautiful. There are of course some beautiful moments throughout the movie, but overall the main story did not work for me.

I want to keep this review spoiler free so I will simply say that in my opinion (and I believe many others) the plot of the movie greatly detracts from the character growth of Violet. I felt almost guilty in being disappointed by this movie as the anime might be my favourite media ever, and I truly cherish the character of Violet, but I must go with my feeling on it, therefore I plan to move forward trying to forget that this movie exists.

I am rating 4/10 because I think going any lower would be unfair given the merits that do exist here. I gave points for the animation / art direction, voice acting, music and also for the reason that I think the creators did care about this movie, it unfortunately just didn't end up working for some like myself.

It's good in terms of; a well written B-plot (with the kid), beautiful art and animation, great music, well written in terms of the words being very pretty and dialogue flowing extremely well.

But the story...god it sucks.

It just continues upending Violet's character from the last episode of the show by reverting her right back to square one. A dependent robot who only lives for one person. She has no personality of her own by the end of the show, no growth, no nothing. It has no message, no story or deeper meaning to it - it's just wow girls dependency is back.

If they ... just removed the second half and kept it as B-plot then Violet living for herself it would've been perfect. But no, it's intent on destroying what it built up.

Overall though I can't give it a bad rating because the B-plot had me sobbing my eyes out almost every scene of it, as well as the other positives I stated in my first paragraph. But I would not recommend it to anyone unless they're okay with just turning their brain off and pretending Violet hasn't just lost all her development.

As a side note I am glad that they didn't have any explicit romance in this, I've always hated the idea of Violet - the literal child getting with a literal adult man who literally has to raise her. So it is easy to interpret this as a platonic love which I very much do.
