Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart

(W-Toon Studios and DMM.futureworks decide to make a 10-30 hour long visual novel into twelve 4 minute episodes. This is how they accomplished it.)

Hire a script writer to create a story about a boy who turned into a cat because of a girl named Patricia of End, and to turn back into human is with a kiss –– $1000

Hire another writer to create many uninspiring and forgettable characters with no depth, background, or development –– $500

Hire a flash animator to create some good animations, and decent background scenes, but unfortunately have all your character models appear like bobbleheads –– ... $2500

Hire professional voice actresses, and create an impressive one minute opening/intro –– $3000

Realizing the actually story lasts up to episode 3 and a bit in episode 11 and 12, and the remaining episodes are a bunch of disjointed random events (e.g. burning house, tank, beach event, game show, robot fights, fireworks, murder mystery: visual novel style, etc) –– another $3000

Learning the studio ran out of budget money at episode 6, and thus making the viewers watch realistic cam footage of goats dubbed with the main characters’ voices –– Priceless

I thought that I had watched everything until Episode 6 of this series arrived. How can a director pass a short about GOATS instead of the animation? Yes, it happened. I nominate goat #3 as the best character of this show.

The story, an underworld "Queen" called Patricia of End converted, changed, transformed the poor insignificant soul of Nora Handa into a cat. To return to his human form, the Cat needs to be kissed, but it hadn't happened yet. The second story .... "a goat life."

This story is wrong, several parts have BIG HOLES, and even if we ... try to connect the characters with the story, there is no way.

The characters, are placed randomly, they appeared from nowhere. The best character was the GOAT #3 from Episode 6, it knew what to do and acted as scripted, didn't annoy the audience.

About the animation, is very average. The best part was the lighting of the goats' episode, and that isn't animation. Also the OP song.

Finally, even if the show is short (4 mins each episode) best skip this thing because you will waste much time figuring how to connect the characters in the story.

Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart, an adaptaion of a visual novel, is a chaotic mess to put it simply. You read the synopsis and then wonder how the show will execute this premise with 3 minute long shorts. You then proceed to watch said shorts and then realize it is no way related to the synopsis and that the synopsis is probably a description of the visual novel.
There is no semblance of a story here which would be excusable considering it is a short however even with the skit format used in the anime, it's all over the place, makes no kind of sense ... and it's not funny or entertaining.
The art is probably the best thing about the anime and it was quite good. The animation on the other hand was atrocious. The characters are nonsensical for the most part. Also the characters are treated like the audience is already familiar with them or the story they came from. For someone that hasn't read the visual novel, it would be hard for me to feel any attachment to the characters and the humor that is attempted throughout the anime fails in my opinion.
I derived most of my enjoyment from Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart from laughing at how bad everything was and seeing how bad things could actually get. The apex would definitely be the now infamous episode 6. Also the fact that the anime isn't a huge time investment makes it easier to get through.
It's a horrible anime that I wouldn't recommend but from what I was able to piece together from the show, the visual novels seems like it might be worth checking out. If the show's purpose was to serve as an advertisement for the source material then at least it did it's job.

I saw a blonde loli holding a cute cat and thought this would be the best anime of the season bar none no competition. Who cares about ballroom dancing and kids gambling their parents money away when you have a premise that adorable.

Turns out I was terribly wrong. Nothing about Nora to Oujo stands out and it's another visual novel adaptation that loses all it's charm translated into anime. Each episode is split into four minute fast paced hit or (mostly) miss comedy skits. If you're the type of person that enjoys random off beat humor you may find some joy in this. I don't ... so I didn't. 

In episode six there's a bunch of goat's just...doing what goat's normally do. Eating grass. Galloping around. Being voiced by tiny japanese woman in a studio. This is either a metaphor for how amazing the staff thinks this anime is or a budgetary crisis which seems fairly concerning for a show with such limited animation and length. The episode was so strange that it bumped the score up to a 4 and deserves mention among the strangest episodes ever.

I'll remember Nora to Oujo for two things. That bizarre episode 6 and being the last time I ever judge an anime by the promotional art.

Soooo this is what happens when anime shorts gives up and goes insane doesn't it, well it's certainly not the first time LA has seen something like this happen...

If there was a phrase LA can sum up Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart it would quite easily be "What it this, what even is thi-?". This anime short barely has a tangible plotline in it's bone and the characters are either crazy, stereotypes or batshit crazier than the crazy.

Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart does goes through some random incidents here and there such as a visual novel mystery game for one episode to mecha ... genre to live action goats (no seriously and no don't ask...LA doesn't even...) and Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart tries it's attempts at DRAMA of all things concerning Nora and THAT fails because getting this far with the random shit it did for the past 10 episodes then it expects us to take a more serious deep episode about Nora and one of his parents seriously...NOPE, it didn't earn that even if it tried. The finale is probably even worse as the focus goes back to Nora and a dire urgency about him but comes out as a pratfall by the end of it, way to end your anime short in dignity.

The animation is lackluster even for each 3 minutes, from what looks like 3D CGI work on the character models to how visual novel-eque it looks and yes it's based on a visual novel but LA doesn't expect the animation to actually BE LIKE it's visual novel counterpart. The only touches LA actually liked about the animation was when certain episodes have a genre shift and the animation fits into the atmosphere, though even with this detail it doesn't help that the animation looks lackluster all throughout and don't LA even get started on that live action goat episode...did W-Toon Studio and DMM.futureworks run out of money?, intentionally mocking the audience? or were they THAT lazy?

With how maniac the voice acting is in this anime short, it was hard to pin down ANY voice acting that stood out as the majority of characters were batshit crazy, though some of the vocal reactions to some of the characters were well timed? (as such You Taichi and Atsumi Tanezaki).

As as much as LA is tearing this anime short apart, LA is merely confused by this anime short than anything and like most anime shorts it's short at 3 minutes per episode it's merciful at that however it feels like it's batshit craziness and randomness came from the same director of Ai Mai Mii (it didn't if your askin'). How Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart came to existence and what it's trying to do and how it got greenlight and released utterly baffles LA. LA might have given Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart a 4, but it's more like a ?.

Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart is dead on arrival apt for the Queen of Hell with the "What the Fuckery" it pulls on you and that's ok, strangely enough.
