Comedy series that don't take themselves seriously and/or have plenty of absurd, whimsical humor. Only anime that I have seen.

On this stack , I will attempt to make a newcomer's entrance into the japanese animated medium as smooth as possible. By the end of this stack I'm hoping you will be a well enough rounded anime watcher to understand what you like and what you dislike, as well as having you experience anime that are very good and others not as good, for you to appreciate anime as it is rather than showing off only the gems when the chest is 80% full of rocks.

This stack doesn't have the finest knowledge on everything and there are a fair amount of big types of anime I have no idea how to handle due to my own inexperience, a few big ones being sports shonen, shoujo and older anime. Feedback appreciated.

Anime series that take place inside a virtual game world, often by playing a virtual reality game (VRMMO) with other players, or by being transported into a new world with videogame rules, RPG stats, levels and other game-like elements.
The first shows in this stack are pure VRMMO anime where the protagonist plays a VR game, while shows further down the list are other types of virtual worlds or isekai worlds with game mechanics.

Most adaptations are, at best, on par with the original. Some aspects are better, some worse, so it's down to preference as to how to enjoy a story. There are, of course, many, *many* outright stinkers that make one think the original was far worse than it actually was. But sometimes there comes an adaptation made with such outstanding effort, it elevates the source material onto a completely new level of experience: either through masterful editing or reimagining of the original narrative, or visionary direction, or incredible sound design, or career-topping performance from animators and/or voice actors.

This list covers anime adaptations that I consider far and away superior to their printed source materials. To the point where there isn't any need at all to read the original as long as the adaptation exists because everything is just better in the latter.

Do note that I don't necessarily consider all of these shows great per se; the only condition for them to be here is to be much superior to the original work across the board. A notable example of a horribad manga somewhat saved by outstanding adaptation effort is Erased. Similarly, while Devilman: Crybaby is contentious by itself, almost all of its faults lie with Go Nagai's original, and Masaaki Yuasa's version still manages to mitigate many of them.

Also note that I'm omitting sequels, subsequent seasons, etc., to avoid clutter, and in MOST (but not all!) cases they would also apply. Notable exceptions exist, e.g. One-Punch Man season 2. In all other cases I'll either use the first installment in the series or the one I consider the best-made (for example, if it's a movie with greater production values than the rest of the series).

See also the opposite of this list: Outstanding manga with incredibly disappointing adaptations: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/2346

More entries will be added in the future. Existing entries are subject to revision.

This list constitutes my personal views and stances. If something isn't on it, it likely means I haven't watched it or am not familiar enough with the original to have a qualified opinion. Feel free to shoot me suggestions via DMs, but make sure you have a convincing argument if it's not something that's already on my main manga/anime list. I don't promise it'll end up here, but I will consider all suggestions.

Yo, welcome to the official isekai recommendation list for people who want to get into isekai but just don't know where to start. The purpose of this is to introduce some of the most popular and well made isekai so that people new to isekai can watch the best of the best the isekai genre has to offer.
This list is not in order of best to worst but simply isekai I believe are worth watching, however this is of course subject to my personal opinions.

You may wonder what makes this official in any way? Well, my only qualification is I've watched the vast majority of all isekai and really like the genre, however if you don't end up agreeing with this list after 2-3 working days then I can guarantee your money back!

Disclaimer - most typical isekai are lower effort power fantasies where the protagonist shows off how cool he is and gets a harem. Enjoying this trash is a trait of a typical isekai watcher and, although I do enjoy them, I will only be covering the generally well written and innovative isekai here that stands out from the rest.
Most of this is the basics that will then send you down the dark path of watching isekai and so if my list succeeds and you end up an avid isekai fan...I can only apologise.

Firstly, what exactly an isekai is can be debated. For the purposes of this I will limit it exclusively to anime where the main character is sent to a fantasy world and cannot return to his own world.
This subsequently does not include game worlds such as sword art online, reverse isekai like re:creators or isekai where they travel between worlds like gate. Yes under the actual definition of isekai these can be argued to fit and if you disagree with how ive done this please direct all complaints to 'earnshaw30' on mal.

If you read this whole thing then firstly thanks but also i'll now shamelessly ask you to check out my reviews because you clearly have a lot of spare time on your hands. My gimmick is I only review things that fill me with a passionate hatred and so if that sounds fun to you then great!

Title explains itself.I hate romance.I said comedy but sometimes it can get serious like in some Gintama arcs but other than that they are very hilarous imo. Also if you don't like ecchi just search a bit on the net.I think you can find your answers there.
