Both main characters go into show business and have to over come many challenges in order to act well. They both have trouble finding out how to act out characters as well.

These two shows are extremely similar, both focusing on a teenage girl with a big dream and trying to make it. The only difference is that in Kaleido Star they focus more on things like gymnastics and dancing, while in Glass Mask it's about acting.

If you like shows about people who strive to succeed, this is the way to go. While the main characters are male in this anime, they are very similar to the girls in Glass Mask. There are even similaries in the supporting characters. Only this show is about the game Go instead of acting and there's really no main love interest despite an obvious crush or two. If you haven't watched Hikago yet, you really should!

Both series revolve around the world of acting, and have characters learning from scratch. Some talents blossom and rivalries intensify, while other characters struggle to keep up. Great character development.

Both are about talented young artists fighting to get somewhere in life, but the two have very different approaches to it

In both the main characters are teenage girls who work hard in order to make their dreams come true. In "Glass Mask" Maya wants to be an actress and in "Full Moon" Mitsuki wants to be a singer. Both are Shoujo and also contain romance (of course)

The plot between the two are very similar and the music in them are very nice, glass no kamen has more episodes but the character development are very identical. Would recommend watching Glass no Kamen

A stubbornly plucky heroine who is a borderline tomoboy, of "average" looks, but otherwise impressively talented? Check. Be ready for those melodramatic shoujo plot twists, and for all the male leads to be somehow inclined to help/be in love with our single-minded girl. If you felt Haikara-san was too short and fast paced, treat yourself to Glass Mask.

Both are about girls who have a hidden talent(Maya's acting talent in Glass Mask and Judy's writing). Both have a benifactor looking out for them(Masumi Hayami in Glass Mask and Jervis Pendleton in Daddy Long Legs). Both captivate the heart.

The heroines are similar and the plots are kinda similar as well. Trust me if you like one, you'll like the other

I'm amazed that no one has made this recommendation before, both shows are about a young girl who chases after a single goal with passion and conviction. They take place over a period of many years, displaying the high points and low points on the road to success, and are very inspiring to watch. According to Animeadvice.com MAL users who liked Kemono no Souja Erin were very likely to enjoy Glass no Kamen so even though they seem really different they both capture the same feelings and if you enjoyed one I definitely think you will enjoy the other!

Both are about young girls who are trying to become popular in the performing arts. The female leads in each anime are determined to do their best and overcome the obstacles that get in their way. The main difference between these two anime is in Glass no Kamen, the two female leads are either acting on their born talent or hard work while in Kiniro no Corda, the lead is using a magic violin that anyone can play.

These are shows that revolve around theater and really capture moments of what it's like to act. Both protagonists have rivals as well as mentors, and touch on the theme of passing down an art form to live on through forthcoming generations. There's also some unusual romantic elements in both.

Very similar mood, they both have romance and tragedies, but a good story overall

Both anime deal with different obstacles actors face. Gekidol focuses on the psicological aspects of the post apocalyptic reality, while Glass Mask (2005) deals with the inner metamorphosis people experience through the art of acting. Both anime share a few simmilarities between a few characters, whitch makes watching them as a "mother-doughter" relationship, but between anime, allthe more enjoyable.

Both are about acting and in both, the protagonist is guided by a spirit of theater. However, Glass Mask is the only one worth watching, and triumphs on every aspect of the show, while Stella is less than a "C" version of Glass Mask with the same themes. I strongly recommend you watch Glass Mask instead and avoid Stella in order to avoid spoilers and waste your time.

If you've seen one, you'll like the other. Although Pretty Rhythm is newer, they are very similar because both share the same ideas about severity in the entertainment world. I consider Pretty Rhythm to be the new generation Glass Mask (Aurora Dream exclusively). The reason is because Pretty Rhythm's backstory is exactly the same as Glass Mask but left unfinished (I haven't finished Glass Mask but I assume it ended properly), and the main characters are left to close that story. The reason why I like Glass Mask was because the previous generation of idols in Pretty Rhythm in which they mirror the Glass Mask characters,  read more

They're both really similar because Bakuman and Glass no Kamen have protagonists that are working hard towards their goal. Glass no Kamen is more psychological but the characters and the plot are pretty much identical, and there is always someone cheering them on from behind the scenes. Give it a try for yourself and see what I am saying.

As I watch Cue, I get the same feeling for Haruna Mitsuishi as Maya Katajima. Both are highly versatile actresses who turned roles that were originally intended to be background extras into featured character appearances. Both deeply move someone who has a treasured work she wants to see performed.

The are both older shoujo anime with a rather good story line about girls going their way to achieve their goals. Both include rivalery, difficult family circumstances, acting/dancing, romance and strong lead characters.

Direction wise these two shows look pretty similar, since Glass no Kamen seems to copy a lot of elements Dazaki used in his works, in order to give an older look to this classic title even though it was produced in 2005. Both works are character driven, contain a lot of drama and taboo relationships (which was pretty common for 70s manga).

Both girls really really love stories and lose themselves in these stories)

They're both more mature shoujo titles with great plot and character developments. Sure, there are the shoujo cliches of rich, handsome guy falling for the protagonist, but they're far from cheesy.

Though story and setting are completely different, both anime are about a girl who has a dream so strong that nothing can stop her on the way to her goal - not even love.

Both about girls who want to act.

While Glass Mask, a shoujo, may come off as an odd recommendation to such a brutal anime as RAINBOW, each of the two have impressive story-telling and ethical qualities. The protagonists in each series suffer traumatic hardships, but through these hardships they learn to hope to make the best of their situations and continue struggling toward their goals.

If you like stories that feature girls with a big dream that have a very bumpy road to the top, this might be for you too. With the reality of the road to fame that is covered with failures and hard lessons and the inspiring never-ending energy to chase your goal we can all learn from. The shows feature other themes like discrimination based on class or wealth, talent or luck and try to convey that hard work will always pay off.

Kodomo no Omocha and Glass no Kamen have similar setting within the showbiz. While Kodomo no Omocha starts as a light comedy with main character in a primary school, it becomes more serious, with some drama elements. Glass no Kamen is a drama first, and have a heavier air about it. Both anime have got a love story in their plot and a main character working towards their goals. I enjoyed both shows immensely.
report Recommended by Halettan
The two shows are about acting in a theater setting and both target a female audience.

It has it's differences but it also has it's non-differences.. Like chance pop session is singing while glass mask is acting and it's something they love to do. Then there are those black haired ladies who kinda give off a similar personality. Chance Pop Session is much shorter but it's nice for just a quick watch. :)

Both are about girls who have a hidden talent(Maya's acting talent in Glass Mask and Ichigo's sweet making talent)that is discovered by another peer who persuades the follow their dream by competing in a competition(The role for the Crimsom Goddess in Glass Mask, and the Cake Grand Prix in Yumeiro Patissiere). Both Maya and Ichigo find that the task is harder than they first imagined, but are both determined to do their best to achieve their goals in the end. Both have rivals who want to beat them no matter what.Glass Mask is more serious while Yumeiro Patissiere is more lighthearted although it can be serious at time as  read more
