The Last: Naruto the Movie

Quick review minor spoilers

Story 3/10: it's bad. Like really bad. How anyone can justify giving this a 10/10 goes being my logic. This is simply a way to cover up the gap between the marriage and the previews arc in shippuden.
The story itself..wow, its the most cliche thing I've seen in a while, and even includes a jet Armstrong cannon, sentry turrets, and birds that are like spaceships whilst fighting on the moon. This ain't it chief.

Art 7/10: average. Nothing special, hinata looked nice though.

Sound 6/10: again, nothing special, nothing bad either.

Character 6/10: A naruto who just defeated madara and lots of other op characters ... struggles with some random character. That said, it was nice to finally see the growth between the romance which was needed.

Enjomemt:6/10 bored mostly, only watched it because it was canon and filled the gap between the last two arcs of shippuden. The romance was the only positive thing really.

Well, I don't know what they were thinking and why they screw this up like this, but here we are. I was so disappointed after watching, and still I thought maybe it would get better, but i didn't. Quite the opposite, to be honest. The more the movie neared the ending, the worse it got.

The things that annoyed me the most were:
1. ARE WE IN A SHOUJO ANIME OR WHAT?! If I want to see romance, I wouldn't have picked a Naruto movie to watch. I mean seriously, what the f...?!
2. Also about the romance part: WHY THE HELL DOES NARUTO HAVE TO "UNDERSTAND" HINATA'S ... LOVE FOR HIM? He knows what love is, doesn't he? There were scenes in the anime where he was seduced and kissed by a random villainous woman who made fun of him because he didn't have any experience, and he said while blushing "I DO have experience! With a man, however", referring to the accidental kiss he shared with Sasuke. And even if he understands Hinata's love, that's no reason to suddenly fall in love too. He never cared much about that sort of thing, but now he does? Why? It felt like he was somehow under a genjutsu or something. Telling her he loved her just felt fake. Unreal. Forced. And it didn't fit with the anime or the story at all. It felt just wrong.
3. WHERE THE HELL WAS SASUKE??? I didn't count, but I guess Sasuke wasn't in the movie for even 10 seconds. He's supposed to be the second-important character and we don't get to see him? This movie supposed to be the conclusion of the Naruto franchise, for God's sake! I just wished to see team 7 again, together. Fighting along each other, with same interests. Lame. Just lame.

Well I guess the story with the moon and whatnot was quite okay, a bit over the top and extremely unrealistic, but okay, it's Naruto and everything can happen, so I won't say anything else to that.

It also would have been nice to see more about the other characters evolving after the war and the whole situation after what happened.

Art, sound, voices etc. were good.

This movie is what we Naruto fans have been wanting to see for years, for Naruto to finally see that his true love is Hinata, Hinata is the one who has always rooted for him since day one. Also, see Naruto finally get the respect that he rightfully deserves after all the pain he went thru as a child and to become the world's hero, in the end. We see Naruto finally have the loving family he has always wanted but didn't get to have as a child. That just brings a tear to your eyes in the post-credits scene.

After completing the manga, I was very exhilarated in knowing more about the events after the ending of the Fourth Shinobi World War.

There were lols, feels, excitement and I was indeed anticipating some #NaruHina love story merry go round but I was definitely caught off guard when the movie emphasized mostly on their love story (something I was very pleased with xD). I only gave 8 for character because seeing Sasuke in the poster, I was expecting him to play a role too but he only appeared 3-4 times.

It was a perfect ending to the Naruto series, and I couldn't ask for a ... better one. Nuff said.

This movie was amazing as it takes after the fourth great ninja war and we see how everyone is doing but I like to say how this move was mainly focused on Naruto and Hinata and how their feelings for each other grow each other so it felt like a love story for them in this movie and I loved that about it.

Story 9/10- Like I said this movie takes part in the war so two years later, we see how Toneri, the main villain, wants to destroy the earth with the moon so he plans to take Hinata little sister eyes, Hanabi and wants ... to marry Hinata in order to get the power to destroy the earth so Naruto and the other are to stop him and of course they stop him and we see how Naruto and Hinata start to love each other as it was really amazing. The move was amazing as it had more to tell us about the life of the sage of six paths mainly his brother Hamrua and like I said how Naruto and Hinata are happy with others.

Art 8/10 and Sound 8/10- So art was fine as it like the normal Naruto Shippuden art style and it looked better and nice and character designs were ok nothing bad about them. The sound is the same, it was fine, voices were spoken clearly, the ending was nice to hear as it suited how it was the last movie for the Naruto series (not including Boruto) and background effects were also ok.

Characters 8/10- The main villain Toneri Ootsutsuki was like a normal villain who is looking for power in order to get what he wants which was to destroy the entire earth so nothing really special about him other than he related to Hamrua who was the one who started the entire Ootsutsuki clan on the moon so that was interesting. Other characters like Naruto and Hinata were the ones who stared to grow for each other and we see how they happy with each other in end.

Enjoyment 9/10- I've enjoyed most of the movie like the battle and mainly how we see how Naruto sees the memories of Hinata on she started to have feelings for Naruto which was beautiful to see.

Overall 9/10- The story was great, art and sound was fine nothing bad about them, characters were the same for most parts and I enjoyed this movie. It's been a long time since I've seen Naruto so it was great to see this movie

In my heart, this is a ten, but I'm trying to give it an honest score based on the actual quality of the content.

I mean, it was still a really good movie. My main beef with this movie is that the tone isn't the classic Naruto tone. It isn't as intense and passionate as the original series is because it isn't meant to be-- it's meant to showcase a romance... which might not be a great fit for Naruto. So, I think the movie sacrificed some of what made Naruto so great, but it was still really lovely to watch.

The reason I say that is ... because it's nice to see a transition from how these characters left off in the series to how they end up in the future. I feel like, with the shonen genre especially, not enough care is taken to show how the characters grew up, so I'm glad we get to see the beginnings of that with this movie.

The actual story wasn't the best as it was kind of wonky, even for Naruto. I think because it was a film (and I'm used to watching Naruto in a "whoa-look-how-many-episodes-this-has" format), it felt rushed. The actual conflict didn't make a whole lot of sense, and the motives of the villain was lackluster, especially by Naruto standards. Basically, the story was there for the sole purpose of forwarding the romantic relationship between... well, you'll see when you watch it.

It isn't a bad movie at all, even more so if you love Naruto to begin with. I'm only being nitpicky about it because I want people to know what they'll be getting, but if you love these characters, it's gonna be a nice experience for you. The sole benefit of seeing this relationship come into being was enough for me, and I'm glad I watched it. Now, to finish the last few episodes of Shippuuden.

I have also had high expectations of this movie. I knew already it would be about Hinata and Naruto and about how they d gonna end up together.

However i could see there was a big struggle in making them really seem compatible.
No offence, but everything seemed forced. Moreover there was a scene in witch Sakura explained that Naruto loved her only because he was jealous on Sasuke.
This is totally not true. In 15 years Naruto worked hard and never gave up in protecting her and thinking of her. He made me think: " yea, this guy will make it". I know Hinata always watched him ... like a shadow but the impact was minor compared to Naruto's feeling for Sakura.

You ve showed me for 15 years how much Naruto loves Sakura and u cant expect me to trully believe this fake love story in 1 hour and 50 minutes or so.

Well, there s nothing to do. It was meant that Naruto will end up with Hinata, so i cant change it. But i hoped that this movie would make me really accept this couple and fall in love with them. But no. Everything seemed fake and forced.

I didnt like the movie, even though i know it took great effort to make it come true.

Moving to the story content, i consider it to be full of lacks. I couldnt recognize my hero, I just couldnt. The movie focused so much on the love between those 2 and the action was somehow left aside. I know there was a big fight at the end, i know Naruto gave his best, but something was missing. Where is his will of fire? Where is the cool music and the excitement during the fights? I havent spotted any of them.

Moreover, being the last movie, I ve expected Sasuke to be more present. It was shameful. Sasuke was one of the important reasons for which i didnt stop watching Naruto ( even thought the anime was full of fillers). And he showed up just for 1 minute to destroy a meteorite? Wow.

All in all, it was a Naruto movie, a continuation of the story that i ve been enjoying for years, Im happy for the ending, although it was not the way i wanted it to be.

I feel like there's a triumph in the very fact that this movie exists. Chances are, I would enjoy any canon NaruHina story.

That said, there were some flaws. For one, this movie seemed to be set up for people like me, who are not totally caught up with Shippuden. However, I feel like their flashbacks were excessive, even if that was the case. I've kept up with the major plot points of the story, and I don't feel like we needed to take up so much of the movie, reshowing them to the viewers, just in case they'd forgotten or something.
Second, this movie ... opens up with a pet peeve of mine. Changing the past just so two characters can have a deeper connection in the future. It's always just felt... cheap to me.
Also there was the absence of scientific logic in this movie... I know, it's fiction; Naruto has never exactly obeyed the laws of science... But this was a little much. I mean... They established that they somehow swam through an underground lake and ended up on the moon. ...I'm sorry, would you like to go back to that please? It literally felt like, "Hey, we must be on the moon now!" was just thrown out there and then no one even questioned it. O.o

Which isn't to say I didn't enjoy this movie. I did. Looking at how far the animation has come since the first few episodes amazes me. And like I said, I love that Hinata finally got her happy ending with Naruto. And I'm really excited for the day the Boruto movie gets dubbed.

This movie is basically the justification for Naruto's and Hinata's wedding at the ending of Shippuden: Ever since the original series, fans have suffered alongside with Hinata and her one-sided affection for Naruto.

I think, everyone agrees upon the fact that during the entire series, Naruto not once showed a glimpse of love for her, and for a shonen anime, that's okay I guess... but now, that the series is finally over, it's time to wrap things up and give everyone their deserved happy end.

So, if you were like me dying to finally see some NaruHina-romance, you have to see this movie.

Otherwise, it's not that special ... of a movie - Toneri really is no match for Naruto (who has by this point already fought against Madara, Obito and Kaguya), and his whole plan/ motivation is kinda stupid... but that really isn't the point of the movie, at least in my opinion.

the first beginning I read the first naruto manga, I still remember the promotion of naruto comics in another comic,
written on the back page of the comic there are several other comic promotions, one of which is Naruto, the coolest ninja of the century!
I still remember those words. roughly since my elementary school.
it turns out that the words are really a reality. the coolest ninja story of the century! but there are still about 90 more years to complete the 21st century actually. * lol
really a very memorable story,
fight,
friendship,
loss,
... become a hero,
find love.
I will truly remember forever.

i am a fan of Naruto. i saw Naruto, including obviously Shippuden saga. but, this movie in my opinion, is completely different from the original story. i personally until now despised Boruto, because this for me is not the Naruto's continuation. this movie doesn't give you the feeling that this is the continuation of the story. the movie itself is not bad, it's just that i don't feel it to fit in into the story. i didn't like the opponent. i believe that Naruto Shippuden should have ended just with the anime. this seems to be a casual opponent. in Naruto, every opponent has ... a story to tell. this is the only one opponent who doesn't do it, except for being a bad one. the only one thing that really saves this anime is the romantic side and the ramen, honestly. i'm sorry, this may be just my opinion. i loved all the Naruto story, except the final of the anime and now the movie. there will be a reason. i repeat: this movie is not that bad, but not enough for being called: the end of Naruto's anime. i'm still confused about this movie, because i just finished watching it. but this is how i believe i see it. i'm in a struggle between "the movie wasn't that bad" and "this doesn't seem to be a part of Naruto's story of the anime". really confused, but surely i haven't appreciated this so much, honestly. and i'm sorry for that.

I have seen some of the reviews regarding this movie and I found myself quite surprised regarding the negativity surrounding this movie and I'm not entirely sure why.

It is far from the worst Naruto movie to be released and in quite a few respects is actually quite good.

The thing to understand is what this movie is actually about. This whole movie is a cheap plot with NaruHina at its core and serves a precursor to the Boruto storyline.

It is a shame for all of us Sasuhina fans though.

The music is worthy of the series as is the animation. The characters are spot on ... and as a fan of Naruto since its beginning I can tell that this could be a rubbish movie and I still would love it.

The truth of the matter is that if you're watching the Last then like me, then you're most likely a huge Naruto fan and will enjoy it.

My only regret concerning this movie is that the villain was boring and Sasuke had almost no screen-time and he's my favourite character.

Best to watch it and reach your own conclusion as when it comes to anything Naruto there is always going to be a large divide between the fanbase on everything.

I loved this movie, but not because of its great plot, but because Im a hopeless romantic and I´ve always shipped the team NaruHina, so watching their love story made my Kokoro really happy.

Also, I've always wanted to see how Naruto formed a family :)

The film was good.... my only beef with this movie and the series in general is the constant usage of xyz problem as a base of the love story between Naruto and Hinata... also just the general plot holes and forced scenes that overall don't fit into the Naruto stole as a whole. It was still good and cute but if they could've found a more natural way to introduce the romance between Naruto and Hinata the movie probably would've came out a lot better. Animation was realllllly good and I love Sasuke so the little bits we got to see of him we're great ... too :^)

If they had called this *Naruto: The Movie: In Space*, I would have watched it years ago.

Should I rate this lower? Probably. Will I say "no" to an entire movie about Naruto and Hinata, however fundamentally flawed? Absolutely not.

So, right off the bat, this is another attempt at a real, actual Naruto movie instead of the cash-grab escort mission fare in most of the other ones. I appreciate it, especially since I think the villain design is kinda cool (before he becomes a blob) and not even Road to Ninja really had that. This also improved on the side characters' impact on the story, even ... if none of them were strictly plot-necessary. They could have sent TenTen and Kiba instead of Sai and Shikamaru and it wouldn't have made much of a difference, storywise. I don't know why they never made a point of really using the Shippuden-exclusive characters in any of these movies. This was Sai's biggest role yet, and he had like 3 lines. The various kage's main contributions were sitting and talking.

But, however much I like Naruto and Hinata together, you cannot just spend a (far-too-long) 2 hour movie filling in the huge gap that is their lack of an actual relationship in the main story. The flashbacks to when they were children were nice, but it can't help but feel a bit "too little, too late," especially if the movie where they get together is contriving a plot with the end of the world at stake in which to push them towards each other.

But, OK. That's the fundamental flaw. How does it adapt to it...? By falling into the trap that every single Naruto movie falls in: making it too much about Naruto. Hinata does get some swings in at the crisis, don't get me wrong, but this is absolutely "Naruto: The Movie", not "Naruto and Hinata: The Movie". She spends most of this movie knitting scarves, which would be funny if it wasn't such a blatant space filler. Especially when the scarves get destroyed. I swear to God, one time the scarf was destroyed, it was because she tried to cling to a wall even though, y'know, she's a ninja. And ninjas can walk on walls. It's kinda their thing in the Naruto universe. I laughed out loud when the bad guy, who wanted to marry her because that tied her relationship with Naruto to the plot more and for no other reason, ripped up the scarf because "you made it for HIM, didn't you??" I mean, she literally spends the actual climactic fight in a literal fucking cage. When she is the only one who can touch the thing they need to destroy because of her bloodline, she can't actually destroy it on her own, so she needs to channel her chakra into Naruto so he can do it. If you can't think of how to include the romantic lead into the plot of your romantic movie, your romantic movie needs a different fucking plot, mate.

The shoehorning in Sasuke was annoying and kind of offensive, tbh. If he doesn't need to be there, he doesn't need to be there.

Also annoying was how the plot kinda sidelined Sakura halfway through. When she healed Naruto after an explosion nearly killed him, she poured all of her chakra into him and almost died herself. I appreciate her dedication to NaruHina, but it seemed contrived that the only women on the "save the Earth" team ended up mostly incapacitated by the end.

But, ugh. There is a part of my heart that is still a child when I watch Naruto shit, and I loved Hinata and I always wanted her to be happy with her stupid boy who never deserved her. And this was it. And it warmed my heart a bit, I cannot lie.

I would have liked if the movie was a little longer maybe like 20min since it seem like thy put a lot of story in this 1HR and 50min movie they still do a pretty good job.I will just come out and say it I wanted too see Hinata and Naruto relationship be more expanded upon and they do a great job on building on from the show.Sound is great and the art is also great so no gripes there all fits in perfectly.Now they so parts that good fast and you got to work it out on your own but that happens some times.All ... and all great movie only gripe is the scarf thing is a little over blown but that's it.

This is a scarf movie.

As someone who faithfully followed the series since the chuunin exams it was surreal to see it finally end (until we got Boruto a few months later proving that money is always more important than storytelling.) I'll be honest I didn't watch Shippuden all the way through until more recently. I read all the manga of course but I just refused to deal with all the filler and the absurd watch orders you had ... to do to avoid it. I had only seen the anime adaptation up until the Pain arc, which many agree should have been the end of the series, but again money. Anyway the reason I bring it up is that now having seen episode 500 of the anime I can say it was honestly a better sendoff for the series than this movie was. But let's grade the movie as it was when I saw it, when I hadn't seen that episode yet.

The movie opens with a nonsensical flashback that ignores established events. Naruto is somehow able to use shadow clones as a child before he ever stole the sacred scroll. I don't care if he was only able to make tiny ones, he shouldn't have been able to make any at all. Also the reason for Hinata's childhood crush on Naruto was already explained very well during the chuunin exams. She was always the weakling outcast of her clan, but she saw Naruto training and from him learned to believe in the power of hard work. Even though the series later proves Neji right by revealing that Naruto is literally the chosen one and has been blessed to succeed from the day of his birth, but that's a different story to complain about. Point is the only reason they would need to retcon in this early childhood meeting between Naruto and Hinata is to drive home the stupid scarf thing.

Can we talk about the scarf thing? Why is this movie so fucking obsessed with scarves? It was a neat fake-out when Naruto revealed that the scarf belonged to his mother... his dead mother! Do you feel bad now! (gosh I love Ghost Stories dub) But the fixation on scarves as a metaphor for love is so bizarre and out of place for a series like Naruto. Kishimoto, like Toriyama before him, obviously doesn't know how to write romance very well. The moment where Naruto gives his love confession also just feels really awkward. Even if it weren't for the fact that Hinata seemingly rejects him to shoehorn in some convoluted misunderstanding, the two of them just haven't shared enough screentime for me to believe Naruto's feelings in this scene. They tried, I mean they really did, to give the two of them some time together to have some chemistry, but it just falls flat.

I think a big part of the problem with their romance is Hinata. After the chuunin exams she gets one badass moment where she swoops in to take on Tendou-Pain single handed and even manages to get a few hits on him in the anime. But beyond that she is not a character. She's never giving enough screen presence for us to really know who she is, and is just a vehicle for half-assed shounen anime shipping. Even in this movie where her sole purpose as a character is to make Naruto fall in love with her, she doesn't really do anything beyond scarf-making to endear herself to the audience or the boy she likes, and still she manages to get an awkward confession out of someone who is now probably the most famous person on the planet.

Toneri as an antagonist is a contrivance that comes from the problem of power spirals in shounen. Naruto is too strong for any kind of normal enemy anymore so of course he has to go up against Moon ninjas with new magic eye powers that for some reason just work the same as his fox powers but green. It's fine I guess, and does give us an explanation (sort of) to that one off-handed comment about the Sharingan and Byakugan being related somehow.

Okay I think I've been mean enough to this poor movie. It isn't really that bad. It's a serviceable ending. It's not Boruto. So 8/10 I guess

Being the only canon Naruto film in its universe, there seems to be a degree of irony in the fact that this probably has one of the weaker stories of the selection.

That being said, it doesn't affect my enjoyment in the slightest. I absolutely ADORE this film, and there's nothing that the die hard Naruto fans can say to change my mind here
The time period that the film is set in is about 2 years after the main Naruto manga (if you're a fan of reading) and the same period that is covered briefly in the anime. This time period is called 'The Last' era, ... named from this film and has some of the best character designs in the whole of the Naruto timeline. The characters look fantastic here, and despite the art not always being 100% it's still a feast for the eyes

The story's sole purpose is to be a matchmaker to Naruto and Hinata, who were shipped by viewers from very early on in the first Naruto anime series (unless you were a Naruto-Sakura fan in which case I no longer associate with you). It provides an initial setup of the two being sent on a mission together with Sakura and Shikamaru to rescue a member of the Hyūga clan who was kidnapped by a mysterious man called Toneri. The end of the world could be at stake here, as the Moon has been behaving strangely recently and the timing of these two events mean that they are most likely connected!

However, as this movie's existence is essentially to provide fan service it's very obvious where the resources where put and where my favourite parts lie. The best moments of this movie by far are the sections of downtime you get between pieces of action or plot, where Naruto and Hinata are interacting together and you really see their relationship develop at a rapid pace. Naruto finally (FINALLY!) realises how much Hinata means to him and it's wonderful to see this put on a screen for me to watch.
The pure enjoyment I get from this piece of media is not to be understated as I've probably seen this film about 5 times. I've certainly not watched any other anime film that much, I haven't even seen 'Kimi No Na Wa' that many times, and I actually consider that to be a better movie than 'The Last'

A special shoutout to the music here, as this OST is genuinely incredible. Each piece, whether action based or emotionally charged, really hits the spot and have become some of my favourites from the entire Naruto franchise. The best ones of the OST are 'The Day', 'Little Song', 'Crescent Moon' and 'Naruto and Hinata'

If you've read to the end of the Naruto Shippuden manga or watched the entire anime then I'd give this a watch. If you're not quite there yet then be patient, this film in my opinion is definitely worth the wait

Oh yeah, and for some reason Naruto decided to become Marvel in this film and stuck a post credit scene in this film so watch to the very end as well!

The Last: Naruto the Movie is a great ending for the naruto series.

The movie is about naruto and hinata's romance and a mission to rescue hanabi from the villian toneri. The story is good it gives naruto and hinata some screen time together but my only problem is the villian toneri he's motivation is really confusing and doesn't make any sense.

Art 7/10
The art is solid the animation is not groundbreaking but it works well for the movie.

Sound 10/10
The music is amazing the ost is so beautiful it gives the movie a great vibe.

The character are basically the same in naruto shippuden but they are still likable as ever.

I enjoyed the movie there may be problems with it but it is a great payoff for naruto.

Overall I recommend this movie for naruto fans.

I was very close to giving this a 7/10 and even possibly an 8/10, until the second half of the movie hit. It's not necessarily a bad movie, but it's not great at all. The first half of the movie is better than any of the other movies they've made, but the second half is just dumb and convoluted.

The character interactions, especially in the first half, were really fun to watch, albeit a bit on the nose at times, but it was cool to see Naruto finally get it into his head that Hinata likes him. The movie pretty much focuses on just Naruto ... and Hinata, leaving all of the other characters in the background and I think this is the only movie that has warranted that. All the other movies needlessly ditched the main cast for boring, one note characters that had just been introduced in that movie. The only other movie that didn't do that was Road to Ninja.

Also, it kind of disappointed me that the main battles pretty much just boiled down to being laser fights and flying tug-of-war, similar to Man of Steel. I mean, I guess I shouldn't be expecting much. And the movie really lost me when the main villain morphed into the Puft Marshmallow Man using a bunch of Byakugan eyes.

I was also going to write some stuff on the entire Naruto series as a whole just to get my thoughts down, but I'm really tired right now and I haven't watched the last seven episodes of Shippuden, so I think I'll wait until I watch the Boruto movie. Suffice it to say, this has become one of my favorite shows and it has impacted me a lot. Kind of dumb that of all shows Naruto would be impactful for me, but it is what it is.

Meh movie overall. Probably won't watch it again.

Edit: Also I forgot to add that they were all fighting on the moon. Like, what?
