Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride

Story, sound and character: Fair number 6.

The story is the usual thing from the previous season, except here there is more of the comedy action, harem, romance and supernatural, which was set in some alternative Edo period kind of thing, thought there is a bit of mediocre in it and the filler episodes, it was the introduction of the new set of antagonist that has added some spice to this anime pertaining to the characters as well as the mystery that hey brought with them. The sound maybe the usual, but the intense explosion and the delivery of the antagonists' dialogue has added some sort ... of flavor but in a way that such category deserve a higher ranking.


Art, enjoyment and Overall: Good number 7.

Ok, I admit it was the fanservice (though censored) that attracts me to this anime, and I referring to the panty shots, boob flashes and booty calling juts like in the previous season, there is also the fighting that goes on with it both verbal and physical that has some added some attraction , so overall it was good but not very good since there is also predictability, nothing much of this anime's overall to get a higher ranking than 7 since a lot of it's genre are on the ecchi and the focus was mostly on the new set of antagonist as I've mantioned.

A promising beginning led to an expected outcome. This is how I would summarize the second season in one sentence, and that is because of the same characters some of us love and watch dearly find themselves faced with another threat undergoing all sorts of labors in order to emerge victorious.
Every action we take has consequences and you can see that in this series very well because of the famous samurai in japan's history like Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojirō that were revived because of some spirits that hateful of the course the history had taken and decided to change it themselves.
The end is pretty ... much the same as the first season with the two main protagonists on their way to save the day and restore the peace to "Great Japan" as Tokugawa Yoshihiko refers to the country. The expected outcome is what lowers my score for this series because it's not very entertaining to know the results before you even finish watching it.
Artwork is virtually the same because this season focused more on fan service rather than improving the storyline but maybe I'm expecting too much from a series that as ecchi and comedy.
So if you enjoy comedy/ecchi anime that have a drop of drama then the Hyakka Ryouran series is waiting for you. Thanks for granting me some time for reading this review... I hope it is helpful

I, like most of the other viewers of samurai bride was brought back by the boobs and swords; not story, not any deep sense of enjoyment, simply the boobs and swords just because those two things are a great combination. In fact, I think that's gonna be my two word summary of Samurai Girls/Samurai Bride, the problem? theres not as many boobs in this!(plenty of swords yeah) but wheres my boobs!?

Now down to business.

Story: ...Pfff, story!? This is a harem fanservice and that means that so long as the animators/producers/all the other guys do their jobs right, the story writers wont have to worry about ... what they're doing because all us guys(and the few female viewers) will be ogling at the boobs and panty-shots and somehow that will keep us occupied for the entire 12 episode stretch of the series, hell it worked once before so why not this time? Granted there are some out there who wont be so easily occupied and might get bored about halfway through, but don't worry folks, that's about the time when the story shows up. Its nothing too original, its about the same deal as the last time: evil force, destroy japan, boobs, and the chicks with the swords(but more importantly boobs) have to come and save the day. Beyond that I wont say but that's the basic outline.

Art: The art is great, im actually being serious right now. The art is just very different from other animes and its this uniqueness that caught my attention in the first season. I can really only describe it as being simpler, but at the same time there is a lot of detail and how they do this is just incredible to me. Now I have to bring up the other big part of the art section... the boobs, because boobs are art, but the art is not always of boobs, but when it is, it just makes it sooo much better.

Characters: Well we have the triumphant return of: the extremely childish but equally well-endowed juubei, the semi-arrogant princess sen, her loyal servant hanzo, the girl who the nude images of could be considered illegal yukimura, her servant matabe who seems to think that a loincloth is proper lower-body wear, and the chick with the hammer who gets knocked out more than an armless boxer, and finally that badass pirate girl with the eye patch gissen. As for new arrivals we have four evil resurrected samurai chicks, some great ki master, and a monkey... yeah you read that right, a monkey is now a main character.

Overall Enjoyment: Like ive said, the animation style gets serious points in my book, but not much else. The story is a lot of recycled stuff from the first season and I see very little new stuff being brought to the table this time around. Tragically there didn't seem to be as many boob shots in this, last time around it seemed as if they went out of their way to put tits on screen, but not this time, so all you horny guys out there are gonna have to go buy a playboy or something. I was slightly annoyed by the fact that the show made no progress until the final five or six episodes but I guess it cant really be helped.
I might have sounded like I was being down on samurai bride, but I want to take this time to say that I did enjoy watching it, and I would watch it again, I was simply disappointed because I had built it up in my head prior to its release. It was fun, if you liked samurai girls you should already be watching this and I think that's all ive got for you today, enjoy!

This franchise is horribly underrated. It's better than good and it's definitely better than so much of the crap that has a 7+ rating.

When it comes to voice acting and art, Hyakka Ryouran is top notch. Nothing changes from the first season you can still watch the anime just to see the art. The voice acting is just as good as the first season. Still hitting the right notes and really conveying the situation.

The story line is more focused on comedy and less on climactic battles. While the first season managed a very good balance between comedy and drama. Tjos ... season just doesn't manage it. Too much of the comedy is kick Knetsuga when she is down and then laugh at it. A little bit of that goes a long way, but when you literally have entire episodes devoted to it, you kill the joke.

You have a bunch of new characters and the old ones develop. Sen and Yukimurra really surface their inner nastiness. There were so many times where I was just rooting for the bad guys in their fights. Hanzo and Matabe demonstrate their loyalty to their respective mistresses without ever asking why they are loyal. Jubei, Munei, are all what they are no reall development but you see them being themselves. Gisen is still a cipher.

TL:DR if you appreciated Samurai Girls, you'll enjoy Samurai Bride but maybe not quite as much.

First off, if your a fan of the previous season it should come by no surprise this anime is not to be taken too seriously. With that being said the story is very generic and may come off cheesy at times and with only 12 episodes there wasn't much for character development. Some of the characters bonds even seemed forced throughout but where the story lacks the art style shines. Each character is drawn to match their different personalities which is nice to see in an ecchi anime. As for the sound some over used dramatic effects may become annoying and also again a bit ... cheesy. All in all its an ok watch if you seen he first although its not necessarily needed to immerse yourself deeper in the story. Watch it for the sake of half naked fighting females. lol

tl;dr: A continuation that’s a bit stronger in some areas, a bit weaker in some areas, but largely the same for better or worse.

This is a direct continuation of Samurai Girls that’s incredibly similar. Thus, it has the same strengths and weaknesses, and for the most part I expect that the level of enjoyment one gets will be pretty much the same across both seasons. This season starts off with a group known as the Dark Samurai appearing and challenging the Yagyuu Dojo to a match, though they delay the match by a month to give them time to train essentially. Thus the majority of ... the season is pretty much a training arc for the cast from the first season. How they go about training is full of the standard comedy and hijinks that the majority of the first season had as well, though there being a definite goal in mind and there being slow but steady progress towards that goal does prevent this season from feeling like it was dragging on like the first season, though it’s still somewhat slow most of the time.

While it is pretty similar to the first season, it introduces enough new elements, such as the Yagyuu Dojo now being a maid café, and enough new characters, mainly the four Dark Samurai who randomly pop in now and then, and a mentor like character named Maeda Keiji, that change things up enough that even if you’re watching this right after Samurai Girls it won’t feel like it’s getting repetitive. The comedy too benefits from the increase in characters and elements and I felt that there was more of it and it was a bit better than the first season, though only somewhat. So like the first season, the cast is at their best when they’re being simply amusing or cheesy cool which seems to be most of the time. Along those lines there’s also some character and relationship development, both with the old and new cast, which is pretty shallow but due to the cast being pretty likable due to being amusing it’s enough to give weight to things and make it feel like the plot has more substance. Also similarly to the first season, the full plot comes into view in the final few episodes where things escalate tremendously and it leads to an epic finale, which while still really solid I felt was somewhat weaker than the first season but not by much.

The art and animation are similar to the first season in that they have a really unique style that looks really good and works really well and in this season I’d say the quality has been improved somewhat. Characters still look great throughout and the action is awesome when it’s being serious. The soundtrack is mostly the same as the first season, at least with tracks that stood out as memorable, but that was solid and the best tracks still don’t feel like they’ve been overused so that’s perfectly fine. The OP is solid enough in terms of visuals and the song. The ED I thought was pretty great though, in that I found the song catchy and I also liked how the visuals changed over the course of the season.
