Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita

I am just so happy to be through with that show, I really could not stand it. Generally I came to it for the amazing art style but I only found a pile of jokes that really didn't entertain me that much.
The show has some interesting atmosphere for a comedy, and it sometimes give the feeling of something more dramatic but it's not funny enough as a comedy and not nearly interesting enough as a drama.
Character and story development is almost non existent. The main character is being slightly examined throughout the show but the characters around her are so wacky there's hardly one relationship ... that is interesting to inspect. The story is episodic and episodes are separated from one another almost as being stand alone stories, which adds to the show's undeveloped nature.
Perhaps the show wanted to examine ideas instead of a story in the common term but the episodes range from boring to bizarre. Some of the allegories I did not understand, some I found too tedious to even try and the rest I just not relate to.
I find very little reason to watch this show. Again, I praise the art and animation which are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen in anime and also some BGM tracks were catchy and likable to me, but I do not recommend this unless you are looking for a very unique and not so successful dark comedy.

I went into Jinrui without any real expectations about it. I went into it after only seeing one clip, so I had almost no idea what to expect. However, what I got wasn't very enjoyable, and ended up just being somewhat average, with slightly more negatives than positives. Let me explain why.

The show's story felt very... aimless. Everything that happened in it was somewhat incidental for the characters, and even within the context of these episodic plots, everything that happened in the show came off as very... flat... bland. The ideas for each of the episodic stories seemed interesting, but the execution seemed poor. It ... was hard to care about any of the moments in the show as they were happening, because there wasn't any weight to anything that happened.

I feel like part of that might be because of the characters themselves. The main character had very little in the way of originality, and had basically the same few reactions to everything that happened. There was no depth to her, and that got tiring since she was the main focus, as well as the narrator. The other characters also lacked depth. That could be somewhat forgiven, as they weren't the focus of the show... however, I would still always prefer a cast with some "depthful" characters instead of a show without any (is depthful a word?).
It should also be noted that the way the characters interacted with each other is very typical and uninteresting. They all talked to each other in the same, unnatural way we see in plenty of other anime. This style of dialogue is tiring for me to sit through, and it's one of my main sticking points with this show.
The only characters who weren't written in this way were the fairies, who managed to be endearing and cute, but are only one small positive within a cast that I'm almost completely negative about.

On top of the characters not having much depth, I also didn't care much for their visual designs. Perhaps they're a little better than the standard, mainstream stuff that gets cranked out left & right nowadays, but only by a small margin.
On top of that, while the backgrounds had a somewhat watercolor style to them, which fit with the whole storybook theme... the art as a whole simply didn't impress me at all. There were never any really breathtaking moments with really impressive animation or backgrounds... and despite their attempt to give it a unique style, it doesn't go far enough with it. In the end the whole thing just feels very common.

You could say the same thing about the show's soundtrack. The opening theme is catchy, but sounds incredibly similar to many other anime themes... as well as the main score, which sounds like it could be inserted into many other anime without much of a problem. The same goes for the ending theme. The soundtrack is not unique in any meaningful way, and just comes off as boring, and even a little repetitive at times.

The voice actors I suppose do fine with what they are given, but I feel like the script is written in such a typical manner, that they are kind of resigned to their fate in many cases. Everything I said about the script can be applied to the performances as well. Most of the characters are typical and uninteresting, while the fairies are the one small standout.

My enjoyment of the show was... basically non-existent. I feel like a few episodes had good concepts that weren't capitalized on, the best of these being the "manga creation" two-part episode. However, I feel like that was kind of the height of the series' enjoyment for me. There wasn't much in the way of comedy for me, either... with only one or two moments that I actually found funny, and I think only one that I laughed at.

Overall, it's something that I definitely wouldn't watch again. I probably wouldn't recommend it to anybody, either. While it tries some interesting things, it fails at basically every one of them, as well as the overall execution being painfully middling.

The beginning of this anime started off stupidly and I was about to stop it but gladly I didn't. Though, it still wasn't a solid entry into the anime world. A young girl who has a simple name (as does everyone else in the series) or rather likes to be called a simple name, "Human" is somehow surviving in a world where humanity has seemed to have dwindled.

In the creativity department, it isn't good nor bad, it's just average but most other times, it isn't being creative, rather it rips off other anime and more tropes than any Disney film could ever imagine. Episode titles ... can be generic despite their unpredictability and the characters are generic as their nonsensical dialogue. The main character is a tsundere who is very grating to watch, the fairies who I mistaken for dolls are okay, they're cute and they have a pretty interesting backstory, but everyone else isn't all that great, the little girl with blonde hair serves as an attachment for Human, the cat-like robot who I forgot the name of is whiny and some other characters have little personalities to stick with you despite the fact that they're secondary characters.

Now let's talk about the story. The story seems to have a nice idea behind it once you really get into it but failed because it just isn't creative enough. It could've been an anime you wouldn't really want to end but it is ruined by frustrating characters and boring writing. There are only a few interesting things and cute moments. But the dark moments and Human's overwhelming emotions are rarely shown.

At the beginning, the voice acting done for some of the fairies sound like nails-on-a-chalkboard but then improve quickly. So, overall, the voice acting isn't bothersome for the most part except for also Human's at certain points.

The art is too similar to other anime, the characters are drawn quite uniquely though and also some of the animation can even go through stuff, the animation even made me laugh at one point.

I don't even see why people rate this anime so highly. It is overall, childlike but aimed at teenagers. At first, I thought it should've passed off as shoujo but maybe it is a seinen anime. I'm a girl and I didn't enjoy this very much but the main character is a girl and is usually around girls so it makes this seem pretty girly for boys. Viewers over 14 will likely find this a tad too childish, especially in the humor department.

In all honesty, this has been one of the weirdest anime(s) I have watched to date and one of the most confusing that I’ve written a review for. I just don’t know exactly what to say about it. For starters, I guess I’ll point out that the humor in this show is absolutely crazy; you will see some of the weirdest stuff in this anime that you’ve never seen anywhere else. The biggest problem I found with that, however, is that it seems to be the key element of this anime and the only enjoyable part of it. Basically, if you don’t enjoy the sense ... of humor that’s used in this anime then you will find yourself utterly and dreadfully bored. Unfortunately it seems that that’s all this anime really has to offer which is fine but it’s really a make or break deal for who will enjoy it.

Because I didn’t personally find the humor funny, I struggled to enjoy the show since there was nothing else to really be entertained by. There were only a few moments where I really thought something was funny but most of the show just seemed dull and slow; it felt like it dragged on for too long. Half of the characters are all flat and aside from the last two episodes, have no personalities. If you’re not one of the three main characters then you’re completely forgettable and fall into being a background character who will most likely never show up again. That would be fine if the main cast was more entertaining but because of their lack of… anything, it’s just not fun to watch them.

The episodes/storylines are not in linear order and so much random stuff with varying degrees of actual importance to the plot happens at different times, which makes the whole thing pretty confusing to watch. Sometimes there will be an episode or two devoted to a strange event that’s actually semi-important to whatever the plot is and at other times, some of the stuff that happens is just for comedy’s sake; it’s just hard to tell what’s relevant and what’s not. Plus, none of the characters even have names (they’re just addressed by their job titles) which only adds to the confusion.

The truth is, I wish I enjoyed this show more. The pastel color scheme, cartoony style, lighthearted atmosphere and simplicity of it were all alluring elements but in the end, this anime just wasn’t for me. Even though that’s the case and I didn’t enjoy watching most of it, I do want to acknowledge it for some of the things it did well. The thing I appreciated the most was the show’s take on modern day problems and inefficiencies; basically most of the show was an allegory for what’s wrong with modern society. Definitely represented in the weirdest ways possible, the anime makes an effort to poke fun at real life problems and can be pretty funny at times. It also did a good job at combining cuteness with dark humor and the balance between them is what keeps the show running.

This anime is one that you should just watch to have fun watching rather than trying to analyze it or make sense of what’s going on (because, trust me, you will not be able to make sense of what’s going on). It’s more of a gag series rather than a serious one and therefore has a lot of over-the-top strangeness. Because of that, most of the episodes feel totally random and irrelevant to each other so you just have to keep an open mind when watching it and learn not to expect anything from it. If you put expectations in your head beforehand, then you will be completely confused by what’s to come. In conclusion, this anime solely focuses on dark humor, satire and complete randomness and that’s exactly what makes it so unique; in order to really enjoy it, you just have to put all expectations aside and stick through whatever ridiculous events happen in each episode. Overall, the main thing I’d point out for this anime is that its comedy is the real make-or-break deal for whether or not you’ll enjoy it.
