Based on the page count, it looks like they have combined 3 Japanese volumes into one English volume.

Ugh... I don't like it when they put volumes together like that. I want the different covers. (but maybe they will have them in the book, together with color pages? I don't buy 3-in1, so I don't know).
And the great part with Cross Game is the first volume. It's on its own. The volume that started it all. Their childhood. I don't want it together with the rest. :(

Maybe I'm complaining too much...

This is good news though. So we should expect 6 Volumes?

We'll have to wait until October to know for sure.

While Tonkam (France) is currently at the 15th Volume, Viz Media acquires the license. This is why I buy French Manga, even though it's not one of my best language, although it's starting to be.

I haven't bought manga in years, but I'm for sure going to pick this up.

Wow that took along time to get posted here. It was announced almost two weeks ago.....

No, it was officially announced three days ago. Previous reports didn't have a proper source.

Officially announced, yes, that was only three days ago (from the date of your post), but it was verified directly with Viz by Anime News Network long before that (about three weeks ago from your post). ANN isn't good enough for MAL, though, as you indicated that MAL doesn't accept anything posted by ANN because everything they post is apparently all a load of bollocks (my interpretation of your comments, not what you specifically said).

As I said then, I think MAL needs to reevaluate that stance. The news posted on ANN is almost always very trustworthy (though I haven't actually found an instance where it wasn't), and almost always indicates the sources for the information. In this case, they specifically said they contacted Viz directly and Viz confirmed the series was licensed and when the first two volumes were projected for release. I don't know who else you expected them to contact to verify it since they verified it directly with the licensee.

The only place you have to be careful on ANN as far as information is in the encyclopedia, which isn't all that reliable in many cases as it's user-submitted (kinda like here on MAL). ^_-

One of the best things ever happened. I hope they don't ruin it though.

I'll say the same thing I said a couple weeks ago: Yay. One of my wishes has been answered.

It's about time Adachi got some love since only two volumes of Short Program ever came out and that was years ago.

Definitely need to buy it.

Nice to see that the industry is still taking some risks. Great news :)

And I was beginning to think manga licenses weren't newsworthy around here.. This was first announced several weeks ago.

It's about time Adachi gets some exposure stateside. Definitely one I'll be picking up.

They won't. Sports animes don't do well.
FUNi let go of Big Windup! because of the low sales, and they even said that they won't acquire sports anime titles anymore.

I'll definitely be picking this up. It hasn't shown up on AMazon yet for preorder, though.

Nice, I was planning to buy at least one of the French volumes to check it out, but this is fine as well.

This is great news, although I won't be buying it because reading it once was enough me.
