Yeah, it's a really good wrestling show and since the halfway mark, it has really picked up the pace and progression. One of the best shows this season with all the dramatics and action of the squared circle. But a lot of people will come into the series with negative preconceptions of both puroresu and ecchi, so a lot of people are going to be missing out on the fun. Considering the budget, I feel like they did plan for that, so selling 1k is probably a good thing.

I'm glad I purchased the first BD volume, because it deserves my money.

I really love the manga for SekaTsuyo and in the beginning they followed the manga fairly closely, including the pacing. I think for disc sales the series composition director could have paced it differently to get non-manga readers more interested in the first few episodes. I think they probably lost a lot of people with what happens early and either more flash forwards or just faster pacing of the early stuff might have improved viewership and hence sales because I agree, it is a lot better in the second half. As a manga reader, the most recent chapters are fresher in my mind so I'd mostly forgotten about how long it took to get started.

I'm still not thinking it was ever going to be a hit but I think better series composition could have made it a 2K seller rather than 1K. But you never know...

The main story will be covered in the anime so it does make me wonder. Mangirl! ended right after the anime came out and it is possible this will happen to SekaTsuyo as well. The manga is currently doing a side story instead of the main story, we'll see if it returns to the main story after this or not.

So yeah, if they focused a ton more on the action, drama and suspense, they would probably have sold more discs, but at the same time, it would create a misconception that the manga is similar, without all the wrestling tropes that the puroresu audience would be used to, which might not help people get into the manga (wrestling itself is already a hard sell) or hurt the core audience if the series is changed into something like full-on ecchi without respect to puroresu. So while sales are not good in comparison to other series, I think it is reasonable for their presented budget and I'm glad the show is sticking to what the author and manga does best, rather than trying to be something it's not.
