| @weakwithwords: The only change will be that the 3rd post (the one in red) will be removed. The topic will still remain open for people to request domains to be added to the whitelist and the summary of public domains will still remain in post #2. I just don't want people who stumble across this thread right now to think the whitelist is already pushed - when it's not. This topic is here to stay. |

| Imgur should be the only whitelisted domain other than the domain that MAL uses to store its images. Every other image hosting website is shit in comparison (photobucket, imageshack, tinypic etc...). The only reason not to use Imgur is for files bigger than 2MB that you don't want compressed (so, something like Minus but preferably something that doesn't take 50 years to load an image). Following your logic, let's block every other image host too, there's just as much chance of that shit being linked from imgur as 4chan. The one and only reason to block 4chan is because all of their links 404 after a certain period making linking to 4chan utterly pointless in the long run as all links to 4chan other than to the boards/main page will die eventually. | ^ You guys are missing the point. The whitelist was not made to prevent the posting of gore; It was made to prevent the posting of scripts. (i.e. hacking) However, since sites need to be approved now, there's no point adding sites that willingly host large amounts of content that violate MAL's rules. Most image hosting sites have terms of use that ban NSFW/adult/disturbing content, and will remove it if they find it. 4Chan has no such rule, and thus, a larger percentage and likelyhood of images being embedded that violate MAL's rules. So the mods have made the choice to exclude it from the list. This does not stop you from posting the 4chan image as a link (as is allowed, on MAL, for NSFW content anyway), but just prevents embedding it in the page. Of course, it's possible for SSJ to put his images on another host for a short amount of time before they get removed and use that to post gore here for a few minutes, but the ruling on 4chan is aimed at keeping everyday posts clean, rather than the rare attacks. Also: since 4chan content expires anywhere from an hour to a week after it's posted, there's no point embedding images that will no longer be there for future visits to the forum. Most of that has already been mentioned above. Fact of the matter is: 4chan is sill blocked - regardless which reason you deem more appropriate. Rather than complaining over the why, just deal with it. There's more reason not to allow it than there is in favour of it - it's not gonna change. If this is going to be a problem for you, you can do the following: I hope I cleared that up properly. Now, with that, let's stop the discussion in this thread - that's not what it's here for. |
