"His Smile is Forever Gone!"

A very powerful and sad episode. Andre's death, you could see Oscar taking a spiral into depression and grief. I was disappointed not to see or hear from Antoinette again this ep. But at this point its all about Oscar & the Revolution.

In a way Andre really was lucky. With Oscar being terminally ill there would have been no future anyway, and a few episodes ago he said he'd never want to see her die before him. I guess that wish was granted (Though to be fair he probably wouldn't have "seen" her die anyway, harhar).

And the accordion player had a daughter, I am surprised. He was really a great, mysterious side character.

I guess the last episode will cover Oscar's death, foreshadow the reign of terror and bring everything to a very tragic ending. Looking froward to it.
I probably regret this post by now.

Accordion player's daughter taking up the mantle was just. Wow. idk I'm probably doin' it wrong but that whole scene was the most moving part of the episode to me. Well. Along with the French Guards coming to man the cannons. Just. This whole episode oh my God.

Anyway, grand tragedy in the making. And Andre's words are just too much to bear. Everything was just starting for them and he is even refusing to believe he is dying.

I don't know if I even have enough tears for the last episode... but I... must soldier through.

LaSalle didn't get the same treatment as Andre! They literally left him for dead. That ending was done really well, especially each time the cannons fired. Oscar's been shot before, so we know she'll be okay! Right?
And not the accordion guy! He lost his sight before everyone else started doing it.

My big question is how they escaped getting cornered on a bridge and being fired apon by two seperate army regiments.

Its just like oh we slept underneath it and only one guard was posted near the entrance.

Andre gets a main character burial. Poor LaSalle. Where the hell did they get the time to pick all those flowers anyway? Isn't Paris a city of concrete, and the military patrolling everywhere?

the accordian player was a bro. that's just sad.

I really hate glorious last charges or going out in a blaze of glory mentality where heroes die in slow motion. ROV has been dipping into that lately and I just lose all interest and sympathy.

Especially when you consider what a bloodbath the French Revolution actually was. There's nothing glorious or "epic" about violence and suffering.

In other news the show would instantly redeem itself if it showed Antoinette and the King getting beheaded a la guillotine. I'd slap a 8 on it for that alone. Come on last episode don't fail me now!

"If i realized that i loved you sooner, we could have had much better days. you were beside me, to quietly and too kind..."

that one of the most saddest line i've ever read. she couldn't realize she's in love with him cuz she was raised as a man, she thought she's a man. now that's what i call "Drama"

Aw, I was hoping they'd do a bit more of the French Revolution. But I guess they covered some important figures and mixed in some drama, so it's alright. Was strangely nice to see the Storming of Bastille, ironic that the prison only had handful of prisoners at the time though.

No, Oscar!

Naw, not really. LotGH already pulled it off, I'm not surprised.
She can join Andre in the afterlife now.

Three sad deaths

I'm glad Oscar and Andre we're able to acknowledge their love before both of their deaths. I'm kinda hoping she doesn't die at the Karma but either way she has terminal illness anyway so she wouldn't stand a chance :(

The accordion guys death was pretty sad too, he was a cool sort of foreshadowing character.

Such a heart-wrenchingly good episode. Andre went in peace, leaving Oscar in a storm of sorrow. It looked like all the bullets missed Oscar, and she collapsed on her own. The odds of that, though..

Andres death was pretty depressing and I couldn't hold back a tear tbh.

Up to the last episode,Oscars death( most likely) and the whole wrap up.

RIP André, a true working class hero. I expected Oscar to die of tuberculosis, not in battle, but then again it would be highly symbolic if she died with the ancien regime.

What an episode seeing Oscar losing it. She is succumbing to her illness and is heartbroken from Andre dying. And she goes on to lose her horse against the army. I recall seeing the accordion player few eps ago being carried along by somebody. I wonder if that was his daughter at the time. But regardless, Im surprised he had family. And so sad he passed. Honestly, he was the representation of the old regime. He lived underneath royalty and suffered. And he passes away just as soon as the Revolution starts. And his daughter takes over his accordion, to usher in a new age.
Also, i felt bad Oscar. She was seeing things, thinking Andre was alive but no it was Alain hoping she would rally the troops.

Wat a moment

Did she get hit?

Well, I know looks cool to stand front and center as the cannons fire behind you, but this is no position for a commander. A squad is nothing without its leader. Was she trying to commit suicide by acting cool?

Good episode even if a little uneventful. Shame Oscar so completely fell apart after Andre's death. As others have commented, even her death - where she so obviously makes a target out of herself was a suicide by proxy attempt. The episode showed quite well how without Andre she really had nothing left
