Anyway, WITH support she has decent and good songs. And at least she did not ad lib. |

Holy freaking fish cakes Kuroko..... other than that, the second BD will certainly have a drop but I don't understand what's going on with the second BD and DVD rankings... they keep fluctuating so much. they couldn't be out of stock already could they? Any idea why? the other volumes like 3rd, 4th and so on and sort of steady but the second volume keeps going from 65 to 90 back to 55 to 80....I don't get what's going on. >~< edit: I know its amazon that counts but this has gotta count for something. On CD Japan it says the First Press Edition is sold out in both DVD and BD. |

I assume we won't see anything until another major console game comes out though. I can see Cinderella Girls getting a bunch of one-episode-per-girl OVAs covering the major ones, maybe. Anzu in anime form would be amazing, but the 765 Pro girls would be ideal. |

That's a really strange way to look at it. I think you're misunderstanding the source of these lists. This data comes from a company called Oricon. Among other things, one of their major business areas is compiling sales data from hundreds of Japanese retailers for books, movies, music, and so forth. They sell this data to companies and individuals who want to know how releases are performing in the marketplace. Some nice people, like dtshyk or the posters on the livedoor sales threads, pay for this information and disseminate it to the rest of us. That is, we're getting it for free, so complaining isn't really fair. The lists tend to go pretty deep. Top 100 DVDs (usually about 15-30 of which are anime) and Top 50 BDs (upwards of half anime in some weeks). I'm sure we would all like to see even more comprehensive lists. Oricon tracks at the very least up to Top 300 DVDs and Top 100 BDs weekly. I don't know if those extended lists are available for sale, but if so they're probably considerably more expensive, seeing as how nobody ever seems to get a hold of them. So, this isn't censorship, because this isn't intended to be free, publicly available information. It's a commercial product Oricon spends money to compile, and their customers pay to access. Go try to find comparable information on the R1 anime market, for example - we may not know absolutely everything about how JP anime sells, but we know a heck of a lot more than people following the R1 market do. You are misunderstanding because im not complaning,im asking, thats why i come here to ask about why they are like that. but thanks for the information,i said "censoring" because i didnt remember other word to express myself (english is not my primary language). |

But yeah, I am very curious to know if BD 51-100 and DVD 101-300 lists (we get the DVD ones sometimes, but without many numbers, so we can only do rough estimates) are available. I have never ever seen them posted in full, even on the JP sites, so I wonder if they're only made available to big corporate buyers or something. Curious, dtshyk, if you know about this. Though for what it's worth, JoaoZangetsu, the vast majority of show rank at least once, in at least one (usually BD) format. About the only time a show has no data at all is when both formats sell absolutely abysmally, particularly if they're released in a busy week with a lot of releases and high minimum sales thresholds. It used to be more common for titles not to have any data, back a couple years ago when it was all DVD and not as much data was released. Thresholds were regularly over 1000 copies then. These days, we often get at least one week of sales data even for major bombs that sell only ~600-700 BDs or whatever. So the completeness of the data has been improving over time. yeah,i notice that some data about some animes appear in the list with some great salles in their first week, and in the next list, they didnt even appear in the ranking,so i start to get frustrating, and i tend to doubt those things, and them get curious about why. i'd like to see a full list too, someday hahaha. |

Part of the issue is that anime is so dominated by preorders and release-week purchases. On average something like 75-90% of lifetime reported sales to come from the first week, even when we get rankings for 3+ weeks. Or monthly rankings that can give up to 4-5 weeks of data. So if a show sells ~4k in its first week, it will likely sell considerably less than ~1k in its second week, and sometimes the thresholds are too high and it doesn't make the top 50/100. Time of the month can have a big impact. If release week is the 1st week of the month, BD threshold might be like 600 or something. If it's the third or fourth week of the month it could be over 1000, maybe 1500. Over 2000 during Christmas week. So something might sell 3000 in week 1 and 500 in week 2. If it came out in the first week of the month, it'll probably rank both weeks because the second week is so slow and thresholds are so low. If that same title came out in the third week of the month, the 500 in the second week almost definitely wouldn't rank, so we'd only get one week of data reported, and it would be listed as 3,000 instead of 3,500. Even with how data has been improving, it's still a lot better for shows that sell a lot than shows that don't sell well. hmmm... but when a show like Kara no Kyoukai, that sold 20k almost 1 year after the BD release... makes me wonder if there are others shows that sell well like that and is not listed or ranked. |

jmal said: Then on Thursday, we get the DVD Top 100 all-genre and BD Top 50 all-genre. The DVD 100 only occasionally adds more information, because usually less than 30 anime are in the top 100, so Tuesday tends to be comprehensive and then some already. BD Top 50 almost always adds on to the Tuesday list though, sometimes a little, sometimes quite a lot. Where do you see the Tuesday lists? After further research, it seems Oricon you Taiju only deals with the lists commented before. On the other hand, Oricon Biz Online has a lot more to offer. But it is much more expensive and appears to be restricted to only corporations. Oricon Biz Online has the DVD Weekly Ranking Top 300 (for 90,000 yens per month) and the Blu-ray Weekly Top 100 (for 90,000 yens per month). |
