| Hey MAL! We're looking to give our Profile Pages a design and/or feature upgrade. But before we got too far in the process, the MyAnimeList staff wanted to check in with the community. We would greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions on how you think we could make the profile page better. I'll read every idea posted, so let's try to keep them creative! If your idea is constructive and shows strong community support, there's a good chance it could get implemented! Thanks for your help and support! | More gender options are a suggestion I've seen for the profiles. If there was a way to block specific users from viewing your profile that would be nice, but that might be beyond the suggestion of profile improvements. The AIM/MSN options are outdated. |

| Remove the 'random anime/manga' as it's not particularly useful for anything and will free up space for other changes. Create a limit to the amount of images that can be posted in the 'about me' page. There are some users that have so many images on their profile that it endlessly loads and can actually crash people's internet browser. Add anime and manga achievements to the site, similar to AnimePlanet's "badges". It's a good way to encourage people to watch more anime and stay active on the site. And as other people have recommended, add an 'other' option for gender and rename MSN to Skype. |

| Old suggestion, but allows us to show more favorites under Anime, Manga, and People. 10 favorite characters is fine. Also, a feature that lets only friends look at your personal information like your birthday and friend's list and what not. I feel like it would encourage more people to be honest about their birthdays, and be more comfortable in sharing information about themselves. Some integration with the new MALgraph like j0x above was saying wouldn't be bad either. |

| All right. 1. Whitespaces The main problem I have found with profiles in MAL is the amount of whitespaces present. There are just too many blank spaces which can be filled with other stuff as up to the user's preferences. Don't get me wrong, whitespaces are useful when used in separating between categories and improving readability but in here is just way too much, resulting wastage. Worst case scenario, this might need a design overhaul since the pre-existing profile layout is not capable in optimising the usage of whitespaces. I can't provide a design right now because I still haven't figured out the layout while staying consistent with MAL overall site design. What I am requesting here is limiting the amount of whitespaces and nothing more. 2. Unused categories Since MAL is advocating simplistic interface, why not give the user a choice to add/remove categories based on his/her preferences? Myself for example, don't use Anime Favourites, Manga Favourites, Favourite Characters, Favourite People nor Random anime/manga. As such, I prefer those to be removed from my profile as they are unnecessarily filling up my profile space. Something like this I suppose. 3. The purpose of having "friends" in MAL At present, they are nothing but just a link on one of the tabs. It serves no purpose whatsoever other than viewing lists and having his/her username under the friends tab. I would like it to be more than that. First, allow instant messaging between friends rather than using mail. This might burden the servers to an extent however but I think it is possible to be implemented. Second, allow something like event scheduler where you invite your friend to watch an anime with you. You send a request to one of your friend containing information such as which anime included with date and time, he/she can just reply with a simple yes or no. These are merely suggestions. If you have any ideas in giving more features on having friends with a certain user, feel free to do so. What I want is an actual merit in befriending other users rather than a mere title. 4. Increase the size of images under Last List Updates Pretty straightforward as the current images are just too small to be seen properly. I propose the images to be displayed at 140px in height and 100px in width. Glossy images are optional. As you can see in the spoiler below, the last list update need to be relocated to somewhere else due to the introduction of additional whitespaces. |

| 1. Add links to "Watching", "Completed", etc. under Anime/Manga Stats. 2. "Last Blog Entries" should not be displayed if there is no blog available. Currently "No blog entries found" is shown after user has deleted all blogs. (Note that "Last Blog Entries" is not displayed if user has never created any blog. ) |

Reason: Sometimes people leave large comments so this would be particularly helpful. I disagree on the relocating of the Comment Box unless there's a direct link to it. It's easier to find the Box when all you have to do is click PageEnd. |

| How about having a volume update for manga show in the last list updates? Currently only an update to the chapters will lead to it showing, but an update to the volumes is still an update. I'd also be all for an update to the time spent stat for the manga list being updated. Sure, making it completely accurate is impossible, but I don't think it would hurt to have it be a bit more accurate than it currently is. Like differentiating between Manga and LNs. Reading an entire LN volume in 1.2 hours (and a chapter in 8 minutes) is just impossible unless you're one of those people who can read at lightning speeds. And if we're talking about graphs and achievements like on MALgraph, then I guess they could go under an extra tab; like putting a Graphs tab next to the home tab, and an achievements tab next to that one for example. | If people want achievements there should be a club or something that gives the achievement to the person concerned. Achievements given automatically can have its...downsides. |

| Hello! I'm looking forward to these changes. 1) An option to make your profile or parts of it completely private (last updates, last online, history, comments, lists). Also now it's possible to retrieve private lists via malappinfo.php, which doesn't make them private at all. 2) Make comments auto-load when scrolling to the bottom of the page. 3) Make settings for reordering profile sections (like in panel.php now). These settings may work not for everyone who sees your profile, but only for you. 4) Fix Friends tab on profiles. Last time I checked it couldn't display more than 100 friends. 5) Fix bb-code glitch in About Me section, when it's possible to re-style or hide under spoiler your profile comments. Or make an option to officialy change comments style (again not for everyone, but only you could see this style). 6) Fix a compatibility percentage a little, when it takes into account not only shared scores, but also shared titles, because not everyone uses scores. | Keep the comment box where it is. Profiles only display the first 15 comments anyways so it's not like we have to scroll past 50 comments to get to the bottom of the page The other 4 changes are fine by me :) |

| -Remove the random anime/manga feature -Add an option to hide specific infos from people on your profile (like on Facebook), especially the comments section, since the PM system is awful -Some achievements would be cool, like for helping a lot of people on specific boards, reading a manga series for 1,5,10 years, etc. -perhaps a blacklist kind of thing the mods could add on users' profile (even a ban counter would be great), for shitposting and harassing other users. Maybe that would decrease the amount of trolls -a status feed for users, instead of them having to use their comments section -remove the anime/manga relations thing on blogs, it's useless |

The current issue is that you write a comment at the bottom, but then it appears at the top. Because of the way comments are ordered, it makes more sense to move the box on top of them (as in club comments). Reversing the order would be another solution, but it'd probably bring about other difficulties. The accessibility concern is indeed a valid one, though. For instance, in club pages, checking the last comment can be a bit difficult when the club's Information is too long. |

| first of all, Thankyou guys for all of your continues updates! Keep up the good work! I might post more stuff, but this s what i can think of now: 1. A place where it shows your recent forum posts. Like your recent top 3 posts. 2. At the side, it will display all or some of the animes that the user is currently watching in that current season. 3. And Yes to who ever said about not having too much white background colour on your profile page. Maybe the Anime stats, The Manga Stats and all the fave characters,animes,Manga and people have the same blue background as what MAL has. |

| Here's one: When updating your manga reading status, make it so that if you update your volume count, the manga shows up in the latest list updates. The manga chapters do so, but when I read certain manga I like to update my progress in volumes instead of chapters and then it never shows the progress properly. This would be a small but appreciated tweak. |

Something like this I suppose. i fully support this idea, i like minimalism as well, and will consider removing my favorites if those "No _____ favorites added" will be gone i support this too having the profile customizable in which and where its categories are, would be very useful i've already customized my panel page since ages ago, and being able to do the same with the profile would be neat the only issue i can see about that is if the customized page is visible only by the user or it's visible by other users as well i mean, currently the panel customization is user-side only, i see my categories customization alone but if it was the profile to get customized, would other users see my profile with mine or their customization of it? |
