Hey there. My name is Garrett Gyssler and I'm 23 years old. I created, run and still actively update MyAnimeList.net. I live in Southern California and am currently attending Cal State Fullerton (http://www.fullerton.edu ). I work part time as a Web Designer for a local company and I do freelance web work on the side.

I started watching Anime sometime in 2001. I had watched DBZ once or twice in the past, but it didn't really interest me. A friend of mine showed me Trigun one day though...and that was it for me. I was hooked. Soon after Cowboy Bebop came into the picture and from then on, there was no turning back. :)

A little bit of information about MyAnimeList. It started back in November, 2004. All code, design, and images (not the anime ones) are done by yours truly. There are no other developers. In the beginning, I was using my personal website http://www.xinil.net . After about a year and a few months (at this time there were only about 250 users), I decided I wanted to expand the user base more. So, the only practical way I could think to accomplish this was: buying a catchy domain. I bought MyAnimeList.net and ported everything over (April 2006 the site was officially moved over). Since then we've had a huge influx of new users. I'm loving the community that is growing here and I hope everyone joins in on the fun. :)

Don't be afraid to drop a comment and say hi. I try to respond to all messages and comments. Please don't post external links and or pictures though.

My suggestion is the following: Why don't you enable external images? (Profile pics, Forum Avatars, etc.) That would reduce a huge load over the servers, and free a even bigger space. I've enjoyed creating clubs, making friends, and updating my list over time. I think I could call myself a MAL-addict, since I spend way too much time on this site. I have made many clubs on this site, but my best creation yet is the Asuna Kagurazaka Mistress Fanclub. I have gained more members than I though I ever would. I have found out that there are other fans out there besides little old me. I'm glad to have met other fans that share a similar favorite series. I have made a few great friends on this site that I will never forget as well. Sometimes I think I may have found a long lost family member, others just annoy the heck out of me xD Well, it is called myanimelist, so I guess I should mention it as well. It comes in handy when I want to update and keep track of the series that I enjoy most. I can also check out what my friends are viewing as well. Truly a great invention it is! Thank you for creating this site, it has really changed me. I've learned so much more about whats cool and whats not. Though I try to ignore that, it still gets in the way xD I enjoy the MAL related channels as well. This site is really awesome. I hope you continue to succeed in ways such as this. You seem like a really smart guy. Maybe someday we could form a great friendship. I apologize for writing so much, but I must give my thanks to you.
