Hey there. My name is Garrett Gyssler and I'm 24 years old. I created, sold and still actively develop MyAnimeList.net. I live in Southern California and work full time for a web development company in Riverside (web company is not affiliated with MAL).
I started watching Anime sometime in 2001. I had watched DBZ once or twice in the past, but it didn't really interest me. A friend of mine showed me Trigun one day though...and that was it for me. I was hooked. Soon after Cowboy Bebop came into the picture and from then on, there was no turning back. :)
A little bit of information about MyAnimeList. It started back in November, 2004. All code, design, and images (not the anime ones) are done by yours truly. There are no other developers. In the beginning, I was using my personal website http://www.xinil.net . After about a year and a few months (at this time there were only about 250 users), I decided I wanted to expand the user base. So, the only practical way I could think to accomplish this was: buying a catchy domain. I bought MyAnimeList.net and ported everything over (April 2006 the site was officially moved over). Since then we've had a huge influx of new users. I'm loving the community that is growing here and I hope everyone joins in on the fun. :)
Don't be afraid to drop a comment and say hi. I try to respond to all messages and comments. Please don't post external links and or pictures though.

Hey man, just wondering what you thought of Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea. I watched it a few weeks ago, being a Ghibli fan I couldn't let it go by me :) (though ofcourse I haven't watched all of the movies by Ghibli yet)
I saw one of your reviews for Hajime no Ippo and when I saw the profile pic I thought 'wow, there are shirts for MAL?' but then I read your bio and now I know better :).

Hey Xinil. Sorry to bother you but I'm trying to change my profile picture but everytime I try and replace it with a new one it just shows the one I had before. I've tried everything. Deleating the old one and not having one for hours but everytime I put up a new one it shows the old one. Help? :)
