A scan of the upcoming issue of seinen magazine Monthly Action, to be released on April 25, revealed that Orange will be getting a live-action movie adaptation. The movie is set to premiere in December 2015.

Orange is written and illustrated by Ichigo Takano. It was first serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine in 2012. The manga went on hiatus for almost a year but later moved and resumed serialization in Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine. The fourth volume, which was released on February 20, ranked 21st in Oricon's weekly manga rankings chart. Crunchyroll is also publishing the manga in English online.

Synopsis
One day, Naho Takamiya receives a letter written to herself from ten years in the future. As Naho reads on, the letter recites the exact events of the day, including the transfer of a new student into her class named Kakeru Naruse.

The Naho from ten years later repeatedly states that she has many regrets, and she wants to fix these by making sure the Naho from the past can make the right decisions—especially regarding Kakeru. What's more shocking is that she discovers that ten years later, Kakeru will no longer be with them. The future Naho asks her to watch over him closely. (Source: Day of the River)

Not gonna happen. Unless it's done by Madhouse, when a series gets a live action adaptation there's pretty much never gonna be an anime. Though that usually happens with TV series. Movies have more of a chance.

Several anime adaptations have been announced in the past including those got that live adaptations. Few examples: Death Note, Ao Haru Ride, Bokura ga Ita, NANA, and recently Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo. None of them are from Madhouse.

Nana (one of my favorites) got the live action adaptation before the anime premiere. That actually turned out to be a TV series.

Is this based on actual facts or just speculation based on what does get adapted and what doesn't?

Feels like there's been lots of shoujo romance live action adaptations, happy for them :) orange has been really good so far, though I haven't really been reading it after it came back from hiatus because I don't know if my heart can take it.

Oh, this Manga is on my plan to read list. I prefer an Anime adaption, but it's pretty cool that many Anime/Manga are getting live-action adaptions now.

Ah my bad on that. I was mixing it up with the live adaptations. But regarding Orange, I still think an anime adaptation is possible in the future.

Takano Ichigo announced that the manga will end this year, in volume 5. We are currently at volume 4, so there are about 3~4 more chapters. Since she must already know how she's gonna end it, probably, it won't be an original ending. ;)

And the (more or less former) shoujo manga adaption rush continues! I just hope the author won't have to end up ruiningshing the original work because of the adaption as was the case with AoHa.

Edit: Since I didn't read this in a long time, I didn't check any news, but apparently the ending that's been talked about here seems to have been decided quite long ago and the issue with the adaption has been (unofficially) revealed weeks ago as well. Now I can just hope that the series was supposed to end before the discussions about the adaption started. As long as the quality isn't dropping...

Cliche thought but yeah.

If you ask me, Orange is probably one of those manga where even if we don't get an anime adaptation, I won't be that sad. Not that I don't like the manga, I love it (it's one of my favs) but the premise is something which can be fully enjoyed in written form. Some of its charm may be lost in the anime adaptation, imo. Of-course that is in the case if it ever gets one.

Is there even enough content for the storyline (from the manga) for the movie?? The last time I read this manga was a year or two ago and I stopped because it was on hiatus or something, and when I stopped then, there were only around 10 chapters (or less). Though earlier I just checked again and I see that now it has 4 volumes (how many chapters is that? Around 20?).

Oh wow.. Nice... So soon...

But i am just confused about what Future Naho did, she got into a fight with Kakeru then Suwa confessed to her.... Then she accepts it? I thought she loves Kakeru.. then why did she do that? To spite Kakeru? Then i think she deserves the sadness and depression she got... Maybe Kakeru saw/heard the confession then it triggered his demise. Ahhhh need the new chapters asap -_-

Oh...

Well, I hope it is going to be a graceful, planned ending and not something rushed. In a sense, it is getting pretty close to the built in "deadline" in the story. (Not quite as extreme as Half & Half, but
is kind of the limit on the story. They either succeed or they don't, ya know?

I have been loving this manga and can't wait for the next chapter. A movie adaptation will be fun, but I would really love an anime.

It seems that Shoujo titles are more likely to get live action adaptations than anime, for the most part. I expect this has to do with the target demographic tending to spend money on movies and watch TV dramas more often than anime. I get the feeling that, while the manga industry aims at the female reader a whole bunch, the anime industry is still pretty centered on a male demographic as the primary audience. That makes some sense...
