| This is a hard to answer question. I remember we owned the Pokemon movie and Little Nemo when I was very. I didn't personally buy them though(at least Little Nemo, idk about Pokemon). Then in middleschool I rented Initial D and Sugary Baby Princess or whatever on Netflix back when you could only get the discs. Then a year or two ago I bought my first anime which was a used dvd of Redline because I needed something to pad my video game purchase on Amazon. |

| My first anime I bought was Ninja Scroll,Ghost in the shell, and Akira. They were on VHS and dubbed. For some reason back then the licensing companies charged more for anime that they only had to add subs to.This was way much cheaper than hiring a whole entire cast of voice actors and sound engineers to strip the Japanese voice audio and add the English audio. I guess they knew that they could sell more dubbed than subbed anime. |
