Well, reading through this thread I guess I'm in the minority about liking the opening and ending. Then again I do enjoy Goatbed's music in general. Plus playing the game, I notice some things in the opening that makes me even more curious on how they'll go about the story.

My hubby watched it with me and he never played the game. He actually enjoyed the episode. He did admit he doesn't really know what's going on, but he also see that as watching any other first episode of an anime. Most first episodes doesn't reveal everything out the gate. Even in the game itself things were confusing till the pieces of the puzzles start coming together over the course of the game.

I enjoyed the anime too. Then again my expectations weren't too high either since I know things that get adapted don't always follow the source material. I had a feeling they might not show much BL or be heavy with it considering when I played the game I felt it didn't really focus much on the BL/yaoi till the later parts. There were undertones, but it wasn't full blown man on man action 24/7 in your face or something like other BL titles. Even the romance didn't get that strong either till later parts and depends on the route taken.

Of course there is always room for improvement in the anime, but to me they seem to have the core personalities intact. There things that got minimized but other things made up for it. They did rush in parts and a few other parts seem rather slow, but all in all it wasn't horrible. I was actually surprise by some things that even happened. The art isn't that bad, of course there were some weird angles and stuff that didn't look right, but I seen alot worst even in the most critically acclaim anime series that had episodes where the quality dipped significantly. It does look better than I thought it'll be. I actually thought the series will be even lower quality than what the first episode showed so that was one of the surprises.

The only thing I wish to have seen more of is Aoba's inner thoughts, but I guess playing a game can be more interactive than watching the anime. Sounds like in the next episode Clear will make more of an entrance, definitely looking forward to that.

Right now it's pretty fun to watch, if it gets worst then I'll cross that bridge when it gets there and hubby doesn't mind watching it too sooooooo it isn't all that bad to us. Will continue watching for now. :)

i'm a huge fan of the visual novels so going into the first episode, i was being skeptical. i wasn't impressed by the trailers or any sample videos and i wasn't impressed by the first episode.

it felt tacky and the animation was just... terrible at times. the rhyme scene with aoba and noiz was okay-ish but that's about it. the dialog also felt really cheesy. i'm happy that mizuki got so much screen time even if he's not gonna be so much on in later episodes (until... you know). but i don't really like how they changed the scenes with koujaku and mink. especially with mink, it was just so awkward i can't even handle it tbh haha. i'm kind of scared to see how they're gonna portray him in the series (mink is my favorite character).

i'm just hoping this doesn't end up like TnC did. i'm still gonna watch the whole thing, in tears if i have to. i know they're gonna change a lot of things and all. but yeah, i'm sad about a lot of things in it.

also the opening song is just bad, even for goatbed (i'm sorry, some of his music is just not clicking with me). tho i did like other bg music and the ending !

This will be an experience for me.

Aside from that the episode was more or less meh, the OST wasn't half bad I quite liked it.

It's so weird watching this after just having played the game. If I wasn't already familiar with the story and the characters I'd probably find this anime a bit goofy, but as it is I'm rather enjoying it. Of course the character designs are a bit more appealing in the game, but for some reason I find it the opposite for Aoba's grandmother. She seems a bit more likeable in the anime. Overall I think the writers came up with clever solutions for introducing some facts without having Aoba narrating all the time.

By the way, the person above me complains that the dialogue was cheesy. Sorry, but even though the game itself is fun to play, its dialogues are quite cheesy as well.

Can everyone just shut up and stop being so god damn negative? It's only the first freaking episode, of course it won't be exactly like you wanted it to be, of course it'll be different from the game, no it's not a Togainu no Chi replica, no you don't get to say if it's a "fucking failure" or "worse than you could have imagined" after only 1 episode, get out or shut your mouth. God freaking damn it I am so tired of everyone whining and whining and whining.

Not everyone can be pleased with this adaption, there will be too much gay, not enough gay, more screentime for X while not enough for Y and things like that but just enjoy the show or get out, no one is forcing you to watch it if you dislike it so much, go back to playing the game and if not, just shut up and give it a chance.

I am so done with everyone whining that their list of (unrealistic) expectations isn't met after seeing the first episode and thus are badmouthing the anime -_-

I had low expections for this series, and it didn't even live up to them...
I don't play VNs, I was just hooked by the colors somehow, but still, I could barely get through 12 minutes, watching all of it was torture. It's not a good anime in any way. At least the premise sounded a little interesting before watching, but after watching it, I realize that most BL VNs probably have the same quality of story and dialogue as porn does. The Pokémon anime looks like some literary master piece in comparison. I'll watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for my weekly dose of bromance and man crushes instead.
Save your 24 minutes and watch the first episode of JoJo's BA instead, or Free! if you need a show with manservice. That show seems to be a real solid sports series at least, and JoJo is pure fun.

4/10 for this episode.
Putting this on-hold.
Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.
The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck.

But the BL VN was actually good (adding re:connect). Also there is not much porn in DMMd to begin with, just towards the ending and re:connect. BL VN's are actually better than anime and manga of BL genre combined (well, ones I've played)

DMMd is supposedly lackluster for the first few minutes in the game but this anime jumped too ahead without explanation.

VN's just don't get adapted well, not just BL. Majikoi & School Days went in the same boat not sorry for the pun

I'll take your word for it, as the premise did sound a little interesting prior to watching. Not gonna go looking for the VN though, I'm not THAT interested.

Omg love the first episode! Ren's cuteness just kills me XD
I'm fine with this adaption, the small differences are pretty complementary to the VN. Only problem I have is why does it have to be a relatively new studio animating this..? Would be perfect otherwise.

They are leaving out some story set before the anime, about the main character, and the relationship with those 2 blonde twin guys *we're not twins*, which is getting my attention, also the setting seems.. We could say "original" and something that hasn't been before, like a mash up of many other animes.

It was ok for a first episode. Honestly the only part that really got me was the fight with Noiz, actually getting to see the action is pretty nice.

The ending is quite lovely as well.

ohhey Sica wat r u doin here
Anyway, idgi why do they have to watch this knowing this is your fujoshi-pandering anime and idfgi why do they feel obliged to watch every single show for every single season. This is a shounen-ai anime, it won't stay like ep1 forever without the obvious shounen-ai shades. Geez.

On-topic, animation was subpar (rly where is the 'animation is gorgeous' part are you even talking about) and wow that was fast on characters intro aspect (literally almost everyone.. I think, I've never play the VN). But overall, a mediocre first episode.

I liked the first ep, and i am a guy xD mostly propably because it has this feel of urban jrpgs like The World Ends With you or Persona, we have bunch of colorful characters that have this visual kei/jrpg style(which is also very cool)

I like the setting, the look of this town looks quite original, no high school or typical tokyo street

A-anyway... uhm. Yay, Koujaku. I didn't see any fail-face with him, but I did see it with Trip. And the best part of the ep was the Rhyme fight, though. Loved the scene with Tae-san at dinner. That chopstick attack is deadly! XD Can't wait for Noiz to be properly introduced next ep. :3

The OP was completely and utterly forgettable. The ED was nice, though. No AI Catch, but still good.

I'm not really sure what to think yet. On one hand I'm intrigued by the setting, character designs (and their freakishly fabulous outfits!), and the music is especially enticing. I was a bit bored but the time really flew by with this one. I notice people mentioning this is based on a BL game but MAL hasn't tagged it as such yet, so I guess it'll go either way for me. If it's present then this is my first but if not then no loss on my side.

A first episode is a good indication of where the series will ultimately end up, quality-wise. It's usually the episode that has the most budget and effort thrown at it in a bid to hook potential viewers and people who will buy the BDs (or in this case, the Vita port). They will switch on out of curiosity, see the awful presentation and non-existent animation then switch right over to something else. Unless there's suddenly been an overhaul in staff or something neither of those things are going to change any time soon. In fact, they'll only get worse.

That girl commentating the Rhyme match - or at least I think she was a girl - why was her voice a dude's? Lol.

It is like that in the visual novels as well so I guess they decided to stick with it instead of paying a female voice actor

Hmmm... It was pretty boring. Just as I thought it would be. And the animation was poor. Oh well.

I'm gonna watch the whole series anyway, cause I've played the game and really enjoyed it (*cough* Koujaku's route*cough*). And it was pretty interesting I must say. No. Really. I've played it for the story, not for yaoi tbh :p

But here - dunno. There's something this anime lacks. And everything happens so fast! Zero mysteriousness or something...
And maaaaan, that music! I hate this op xD

So 4/10 for now

I like the style displayed in the animation and OST, but the concept for Rhyme looks a little cliche. Although I haven't seen anything of the game, so it might get more interesting. Besides that, it's very cool.

Nearly all my female friends were really into this, but I was (and still am) on a legal streak when it came to games and they were all downloading it illegally. I didn't play it save for one time later when one of said friends brought her laptop over and had me play a little of it (I got like five minutes through lol).
I said I'd watch the anime eventually and thought I'd get to it sooner since I was going down my PTW in alphabetical order. But years later, here I am, finally starting it.

So far, I do kinda appreciate how they're trying to do things outside of being eye candy, and that's great. I just hope it catches my interest enough, cause right now it kinda doesn't. There's actually something really draining about this world. Like interactions are there but for some reason they all feel... forced.
