Also, to the people who don't like raw fish: How do you like your other meats cooked? I like raw fish, and I like my steaks rare. I wonder if people who only like cooked fish also like their meat well-done.

I do not like cooked fish at all. I like raw fish, though.
I'm not a fan of rare steaks though, sorry. I prefer medium rare. (A TRUE medium rare and not kinda pink in the middle)

I've always loved Asian foods of all sorts, long before I knew those funny little cartoons with the yelling people on my TV came from Japan too.

Hell, I just love meat in general. Raw Tuna, Eel, Salmon, or some creature I can't recall, smothered with soy sauce makes for a good lunch.
Hell, I have my own sushi rolling bamboo-thing. I typically use a combination of raw Tuna, smoked salmon, shrimp, imitation crap crab, cream cheese and avocado. Just throw down the rice on the seaweed, flip it over, throw down the goodness, and roll it up.

Sushi isn't flavorless. It's utterly delicious. You just need to chow down without being such a weenie. "Oh, it''s seafood... and raw... and I can see this thing's eyeballs" excuses, excuses, excuses. Just deal with it, it tastes good. Except cucumber. Of all the food I've ever eaten, cucumber is my kryptonite. For some reason it almost induces vomiting.

I was adopted by a Japanese family, and grew up on rice and related Japanese foods. I could eat sushi every day and be perfectly happy. I am a super taster however, so my palette may be better suited for fully appreciating the flavors and textures involved.

Uh it all depends what you eat really. I'm not a big fan of Tuna, I think it's pretty flavorless. I personally like Salmon myself, Salmon Sashimi or anything with Salmon it I like. I normally Eat as this little dive of a Japanese place on the corner of Yamato and Palmetto called Yokohama. they make some really inventive and original sushi that's pretty damn good. I also go to Sushi Joes that it more upscale, they make a king crab sushi that's pretty good and they have excellent Mochi and me and dad go to a ALL you can eat sushi place called Habachi that has really good sushi too. But if I just want Japanese Cuisine not Sushi I go to a place called Myabi's.

But I never had a problem with sushi I think it's because my family is from Italy and they from a coastal town on the Mediterranean so my family always eats fish and pasta. It's not a huge leap from Japanese cooking.
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die.

I love sushi, especially the rice. Tuna's my favourite. I grew up eating it being ~asian~ and all, but then again I enjoy all kinds of seafood/raw things/seaweed-related items.

I only like certain kinds. I fucking hate the taste of tuna, so anything with tuna in it, I'll probably hate.

But in general, it's not one of my favorite foods. But I think it's still quite delicious.

My family likes sushi (raw stuff). But I don't like the raw variety very much without soy sauce. But I like the makizushi. The ones I usually eat have kani kama and mangoes wrapped with nori, and that wrapped in rice.

As much as I hate seafood, I actually like sushi. (Maybe it's because of the fact that it's raw x]) But I hate spicy/hot stuff, so no wasabi for me. Soy sauce is good, though. ^_^

fish all have the same flavor, they are all salty. the texture is what makes the experience different. tuna is more firm, salmon can be compared to jelly, octopus is rubbery, and trout varies.

Sushi is one of my favorite foods next to pizza, grilled steak, Uno's pizza, Jambalaya, grilled pork chops, fried pork chops, shrimp cooked all kinds of way, Crab, Tacos(real mexican tacos), fast food tacos,my fall off the bone barbecue smoked ribs, my mother's lasagna and enchiladas, and a whole bunch of other food. Although I do not care much for the Nigirizushi style of sushi seeing most of the time its just rice with a piece of fish on top. If you like the Makizushi style of sushi then you might like Gimbap/kimbap. I enjoyed sushi years before I got into watching anime. I do not think being a anime fan has anything to do with liking or hating sushi.

Actually a California roll has imitation crab. Now Inarizushi suchi would be vegetarian since it is just a fried tofu pouch with sushi rice in it.

How did you eat the wasabi with the sushi? did you take a little bit of it and stick it on the sushi or did you take a little bit of it and mix it in the soy sauce? I usually take a little of wasabi and mix it into the soy sauce until I get the right taste.

I think most anime fans would not eat most of the Japanese food. Now someone watching an anime may try a particular food they saw in a anime to see what it tastes like.

Not one of my favorite foods overall (though I love sea urchin and Hamachi) but I don't get why SOOOO many people dislike fish?

Do you eat sardines a lot? Because fresh fish should have no really objectionable flavor. Heck, beef is way more gamey and funky than any white fish (not that it's necessarily a bad thing).
