| LOVED this episode. The backstory was brilliant. We got to see Makabe in college and how he met his wife. The first romance aspect of this series. |
| Noooo! Didn't love this episode. >< (First episode I didn't really like. ) Yes I like Kenji and wanted to know more about him, but... a whole episode? Really? And honestly, though it was nice to know, I didn't care how he and his wife met... Are they going to do an episode for everyone (that passed)? T_T Annoyed that Kenji kept looking up at the sky... even in the cafeteria... Serika next... Erph. I have to say this was the first episode that I wanted to be over faster. :( "This week's photo!!" "What's that?" |

| Climbing Mt Everest, first date like a boss. Even though it was fairly obvious Kenji was going to pass, it was still fucking tense just waiting for that confirmation. Another great episode down. |

| This was episode for parents ;) Kenji I know that feeling... but it was great he found a way to escape. Added a lot to his character and made him really likable (but again it may come from fact I can relate). One of best episodes so far. And just how tense they can make simple thing like telephone call. |

| Once again incredible episode, was watching half of it with tears in my eyes... Looking back the thing was shown is only one phone call and thoughts during it, just incredible! |

| I'm more than willing to spend a full episode on each of Kenji and Serika's backstories, if only because it means they may be playing a slightly bigger role as supporting characters. Of course when each episode is so close to perfectly executed, it doesn't hurt either. |

| Always amazing and my feelings about this are once again linked to Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Some envy for having the kind of passion to chase a major dream like that. But also I'm so happy things worked out for him. I was getting nervous with the flashback and how long the call was taking. The episode pointed out something as simple as the colors of the uniform being linked to the world and beyond so beautifully. |

| I love this show. I never thought I'd truly care about a show about two brothers with dreams of going to outer space, but my lord, this show is fantastic. The slow build makes it so much more compelling when something important happens, like the revelation of Kenji's phone call. And I love character development and backstory, so this episode was great. I really do hope they devote a single episode to every character and their calls (or at least the more important characters) cuz it's a very interesting and effective way to showcase them while building the anticipation till the breaking point. Great stuff, and yet again, I love this show. :) |
| Another amazing episode. this anime just keeps getting to me, despite the fact the premise by all accounts should make for a boring anime, they have done a fantastic job, and made a 'true' every day life anime that I can't just get enough of. Kenji's back story was so normal.. His relationship was normal (not the love at first sight you see in every other show), his job was normal, his life was just normal.. but the way it was presented made it utterly touching. The tension (although I was sure he would pass or I would have felt utterly trolled after the build up at least) was killing me, however the ending was although expected, very satisfying. I wonder if this style of episode is going to be done for each candidate (or at least the main ones). |

| Wow this made me love Kenji even more, he is such a wonderful man. (i wish I as his wfie haha) He had a nice simplistic life and it was see to see why he took the exam.I WAS SO SCARED THAT HE DID NOT PASS! WHY WAS IT SO SUSPECEFUL! I'm glad he made it Q-Q |

DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- This thread was probably already made but got messed up with the "forum rollback"... Anyways... Kenji and his yearn to soar and go farther than he has while those around him are content is a feeling I can relate to... and I loved the focus on him, Yuki and their life. ..but OMG that anticipation to hear the rest of the phonecall.... |

| Omg, such a nice backstory on Kenji :S I like how it showed how he met his wife and stuff ... he's always loved traveling so space would be a natural extension of that. No wonder he found his day job boring! It was always the same ... no changes at all. I love that Yuki encouraged him to apply with his own words and look at him now! He passed~! ;D I kind of knew he would ... I KNEW he would say "I'm sorry ... I won't get to spend as much time with you now" or something of that sort XD Congratz Kenji! I'm so happy for you :D Looks like they're going to do an episode for each person ... Serika's next! Of course, we know about her dad being in the hospital and the journal thing but I'm sure this will give more info :P |

| Amazing episode, loved the description of grey weekdays! Very inspirational overall. Reminds me that I need to get out of my boring job and find myself somewhere else... love this episode. |
| This wasn't the best episode ever, but the way they did the flashback was very good and it was definitely enjoyable. Next episode is probably about Serika's past, hopefully these flashback episodes won't last forever. |

| Loved that episode. Felt really happy for him when it was all confirmed. The realism of his character and just his life in general made everything have more impact for me. Just a family man stuck in a routine lifestyle but with bigger dreams. Really glad it's worked out for him. |

| So Keiji finally gets some backstory. His family is lovely. They seem a lot more alive after seeing how Keiji met and married his wife- I found it particularly interesting that she was the one who suggested becoming an astronaut. Seeing his dissatisfaction with his job was interesting as well. I was wondering when Keiji acted dissatisfied after the phone call. Heh, he's a good trickster. Nice episode. |

| I'm not happy with this developement. I like Kenji, yes. But his place should be with his family. He might get a dysfunctional family and an alienated daughter in exchange for a few years of 'freedom'. Hated it. |
