Another cool episode :)

No gory death scene this episode, but it's fine and dandy when we got to know alot of background information :)

Still absolutely loving this show. It isn't really that scary. But the suspense is off the hook.

You should have just ignored her Kouichi bakame.

So she is not a ghost, not disappointing but I was hoping for the supernatural. Still the story if the class is interesting. It seems that the art teacher was part of that class as well, it would explain why she was avoiding him.

Anyway, from the preview, I would guess that they become closer. I wonder if there will be some sort of romantic element to their relationship.

What I don't get, though, is why has the curse started again? Is it because Koichi joined the class? And if so, could it mean Koichi himself is dead?

Oh wait, that makes sense now. Still, I'm really curious to find out who the dead person is. I hope we find out before the very last episode.

Is it also because:

Misaki Mei relates to the girl from class '72.
and
Main Character's mother was in that class?

What if... his mom died while pregnant with him, he was never born and his whole life is a lie. Now he's part of the class that caused his mom to die, as the 'dead' person, and he just carries the curse on. Dun dun dunnnn!

Some of my suspicions became truth this episode.
I expected the treatment of mei to be some kind of counterreaction to the girl who died but was kept alive. I DIDN'T expect that kouichi now got the same treatment, but it looks like it works out for the better: He's getting closer to Mei. (I'm really starting to ship them)

I expect that they will now start to look for the dead person (I suspect the male teacher - he teaches like a Zombie XD)

Also, one question:

I'm not into disabled girls - at all!

So.... WHY THE FARK IS MEI SO FARKING MOE? >.<
I want Rambo in a mecha-suit with a laser-chainsaw gun that fires nuclear warheads, fighting the love-child of Predator, Alien, a group of Bangladeshi terrorists, and Satan. (Actually that would be a pretty sick show) - StopDropAndBowl

The poor schoolboy loses his sister in a horrid accident yet he's sent off to school the next day? :(

The boy who had a heart attack may not of had a dramatic exit, but honestly, I'd rather endure either one of the swift freak accident deaths that occured in the previous episodes over that - so far, he had it the worst.

Very interesting approach to dealing with an oversubscription. ;)
Though why do the school keep on accepting new children into that class?

Good episode.

The tsundere with the pigtails? If so, why rush?
I'm willing to place a bet that if this series continues down the mass death path, the 'cute tsundere' will be there at the end.

This episode mainly served as infodump, however, not one minute felt dull even disregarding the fatality due to the great direction of this show. There are still a few questions open but I'm confident they will get answered in the next few episodes.

It's unfortunate that Kouichi was eventually the one who caused this string of events but his behaviour is understandable. One of the most assertive human traits is curiosity after all and to be honest who wouldn't have acted the same way as he did.

I wouldn't exclude a non-supernatural reason for the happenings at this moment, though, no matter how unlikely it sounds. There's a possibility that the elevator last episode could have been rigged by some people.

Without regard to this speculation now the main goal will probably be to find the "extra" student. To achieve this it's probably the best that Kouichi receives the same treatment like Mei, he has at least one person now who he can speak about this issue directly. In retrospect it's kinda obvious that studio M is Mei's home which is pretty stylish for that matter.

I love this moment. Mei is hidden by that guy sitting there, and it makes you wonder if Mei really exist. Great.
We got answers this ep. and now we already know that Mei isn't a ghost.

Mika_Inamori, haha, i thought the same when he said it. I was like "Hmm, he said something to Sakakibara, so is he gonna die next?" and then imagined how at his death he curses the fact he said "I'm sorry" xD.

I think I'd be disappointed if the ghost wasn't someone we've already gotten clips of so far. When Mei was telling Kouichi everything, they showed little snips of characters who the dead person may or may not be, and, there were a few I didn't really recognize.
I want to be able to say "I did NOT see that coming!" when it's finally revealed. At the same time I want it to be someone we saw at the very beginning and had a speaking part.
Now that I think about it, it makes me wonder about the one line from Tomohiko to Teshigawara, where he said "I know more about you than you think" (or something to that effect) .. Maybe he knows more about the extra person than we think he does? Who knows, this is getting so good!

Still, the phenomenon will continue. Sakakibara didn't ignore Misaki and started the phenomenon. Now the rest of Class 3 is ignoring Sakakibara and Misaki. But Sakakibara and Misaki is still in Class 3 so as long as they don't ignore each other the phenomenon will not stop. Am I right? I wonder who's the "dead" person..

Takabayashi's death wasn't too gory, but creepy nonetheless. And I felt really bad for him too :/

So. We know there's a direct correlation with people telling Sakakibara about the curse. However, Sakakibara now understands the curse so I'm confused.

I was right about how they "treat the student like they don't exist". And that Mei really does exist. So I'm happy :)

Off to some pleasant Natsume Yuujinchou Shi! xD

4/5 - Lots of information, but I'm losing the excitement I had earlier for the show. Basically the pace is slowing down.

But like others, I'm thinking Sakakibara is the dead person too, especially when they mentioned that the victim doesn't know it themselves. It could either go two ways: Sakakibara goes really crazy questioning his own existence and identity as he gets more clues that he was someone who died from the past; or that he does not develop psychological trauma.... idk. There's probably a lot of other possibilities, but I'd enjoy the show if Sakakibara was going crazy like that :)

This was like a cool-down episode from the two previous deaths -- which is good. At least, now we have a gist of what's happening.

So...to strike a balance huh...Hmmm But, with the new countermeasure, I doubt it would stop. Once triggered, curses don't end so easily. Hmmm which means that if they found the "extra" or "dead" person...it would stop? Would they have...to "kill" the dead person again?

Hmmm which reminds me...as much as the rest of the class is a suspect as a dead person, so is Sakakibara. I believe Akazawa has said enough about seeing him before, but she couldn't remember.Could he have not gone out of Yomiyama in the first place? If the dead person has memories...altered...so was the others, right? I mean how else would they be convinced that he or she "still exists" after all?

Hmmm...so that's how it is. ^^ I do think the causality was well-done. Humans make mistakes, and it's always a problem as to how to cope up with it. And only after you'd made the mistake would you usually see what you "should have" done -- which is hindsight. I think...confusion is one of the factors for such a mistake; they didn't know how to deal with a transfer student who doesn't know the curse beforehand. Confusion...hesitation...skepticism...It's not easy to decide when you're really immersed in the situation.

As observers...we can only try to analyze...and hopefully empathize...

Sigh...

Personally, I'd have a shit-ton of fun being the nonexistent. Treat me like I don't exist? Alright. Bring a BB-gun to school, and shoot sensei while he's trying to read to us. See when he snaps, trolol. Or just get up in the middle of class and scribble shit on the board, or even better, people's faces. And how about going into the girl's locker room while they're changing for PE? Priceless. You can go up into the cubbies and just start throwing everyone's stuff on the ground, I mean, what will they do? They have to ignore you, right? You can snatch food of their hands and they can't fight back, lol.

Man, you can be a total asshole and they can't do anything, until they try to kill you of course. This probably isn't even a real curse.

So... Because 26 years ago class 3 acted like a dead girl was alive they invited the death in their class. But because of that there is always 1 extra classmate that doesn't know he/she is dead. The dead classmate is drawing his/hers classmates closer to death. They solve this problem by acting like 1 classmate doesn't exist. That way the numbers will be normal again. But when someone of class 3 recolonized the student marked as non existing as existing people will start dying.

That seems to be the case.
It'll be interesting to see if that pattern continues. If Sakakibara is indeed the "dead person" as many members have speculated, then I'm assuming that the curse will continue since their ignoring a "dead person" instead of a living one.

You have redeemed part of the show for me, good sir. Still a 'Meh' for me in the manner of acting of the MC and mayyybbeee for the class/school (still have to deduce on that). I suspect I'm only watching this show now for Mei. And Lovecraft. Yep.

There are a lot of suspicions that point to Sakakibara being the one that is dead and doesn't know it, like how Akazawa was questioning him in the beginning about whether or not he had been here before and such. But honestly, that would be WAY too cliche, and pull a total "sixth sense" rip off. So while it does seem likely, I really hope it isn't, because the whole "thing you're looking for is actually the main character himself" has become so overused...

So Mei exists, I really thought that nobody could see her in fact, it would be more interesting that in part but this version is also good as well, I'm guessing that Sakakibara is the dead person and that his mother has also something to do with the story, it would make sense this way

I have a theory:

The person who doesn't belong might be somebody whom never had any immediate family members or relatives from a previous Class 3.

It's just a hunch, but it would make sense being that the person they're looking for is someone who "doesn't belong," and nearly everyone in the current class (including Sakakibara) has made it abundantly clear that they have family ties to the classroom~

It's probable it's not Sakakibara too. It could be a great misleading by the author, and I love it when they do that...make you suspect someone so much...and then it's not him/her after all.

And it's when all the subtle hints are explained that sometimes justifies if it's really good mystery. I want to time-leap to next Monday already...

From what Mei said (if you believe her), other people can interact with the dead person. That means that no one is above suspicion. That said, it's probably the protagonist because that's the kind of dumb M. Night Shyamalan twist that writers like to do to make themselves feel clever.

Wow, this is so good yet so confusing. This anime makes me think a lot. Heart attack death, a good change from the usual bloody death. This is making sense now, so someone amongst the class is dead? And Kouichi shouldn't have talked to Mei, everyone would've probably still been alive! More of my questions have been answered but I can't wait until next episode to clear things up.

So explaination time has come, we got to know the main premise behing that village story and know why students' behaved like they did all the time. All along i expected Misaki to actually be a ghost of some sort, as cliche as that'd be. This suprised me, positively. Can't wait to see next devopments, what's causing the dead student to be alive and is all Misaki said true?
Also, assuming the dead student theory is actually true, i'm willing to bet that it's either that Izumi girl or Misaki.

I wonder how do they plan to let Sakakibara graduate school now? Assuming he'll graduate as a given without doing anything - i'd like to not exist in school myself, it would be fucking awesome.

This episode has been packed with revelations.

- Misaki Mei does exist. (I still have doubts about it, since there is a scene she is covered by the student)
- Kouichi's mom is somehow related to the curse of 3-C.
- The "dead person" who was exiled (ignored) who didn't get a desk and chair is the cause of the curse. And to counter it, someone must be ignored in the class for a whole year.

I have been waiting for this. Finally. Someone manned up to speak the truth for Kouichi. Takabayashi, I have been waiting. But his manning up lead to that freakin' heart attack before he could even speak. Damn.

All the characters that I liked so far have died. Hmm... who should I like next?

From the preview, looks like Kouichi and Mei will have a deep relationship! (ooh romance) They can only have each other since they were "exiled".

I am guessing the person who will die next is the blond guy Teshigawara or Mochizuki (the guy with Takabayashi) since they spoke to Kouichi. The police detectives who interview Kouichi won't die since they are not related to the school and just background characters. Kouichi's male teacher might die too.

I know that the librarian and Akazawa (the red head chairman) spoke to him as well... but I think Akazawa is the leader and she won't die that fast, and the librarian is the "wise" guy. I don't think he will die.

I had trouble paying attention to the second half of the episode, because I was too busy thinking about how entertaining it would be to 'not exist'. Personally, I would want to try playing games loudly during class. And stealing everyone's food. Or be as irritating as possible to make people snap- it's a shame about the part where people would die if they did, though. xP
