LoL ;) I'm really glad that Morio, Asaka is adapting Yuki Suetsugu's Chihayafuru. So far It's been a serious delight to see such effort going into character development. At first I thought that the Flashback element might become annoying or the unfamiliarity with the game of Karuta, but it hasn't yet. It lead perfectly to episode 4's climactic anti-climax. Was it predicable? Perhaps, but the road traveled to was well worth it, even if you knew a possible outcome. Art, animation, music, character development, V acting performances and the general flow of the plot have been really good so far and outweighs some predictability from the outcome. Many stories aren't really about what's at the beginning or the end, but the journey in between. So far my journey from episodes 1-4 has been very pleasant, easy on the eyes and ears, interesting story about a subject I know very little about, basically I think this is the best series I'm watching this Fall. |
| lol, i really get amused by people. In the flashbacks everyone was like: "Poor Arata, Fuck Taichi!" now everyone´s like: "Poor Taichi, Fuck Arata!" I never flamed Taichi, because all he did in the beggining was a brat´s attitude and should not be blamed since all he wanted was to be with Chihaya, and when he realized that, he stopped bullying Arata. You see, i dont think we should be flaming Arata already without knowing what the fuck is going on. Do you people think its easy to give of your BIGGEST DREAM IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE? so its like OBVIOUS that Arata DOES HAVE A REASON. The guy was always so poor, we dont even know how hard his life must have been, working in part time jobs, perhaps to sustain his own family. Obviously something happened that led him to give up. whatever happened, clearly he is not happy in case you havent noticed. and besides, that thing of "phoning 7 years later" doesnt work for me. Since Chihaya had his phone number since he left, at least she could have called when he stopped writing her, since we know she used to receive Christmas cards from him (she said it on ep.1). Indeed Arata was cold and emo. But why start flaming if you dont know why he did that?! Lots of love for Taichi AND Arata from me. The haters can go to H E L L |

| I still don't understand why some people here keep typing 'KURAta' instead of 'KARUta'. No offense intended I mean when you watched anime, you'd hear the very vocab. It's not like reading manga which you could possibly mess up the vocab and switch some letters. Hmmm :| ? |

| Good episode. I think I saw it coming that Arata would quit playing karuta. The interesting thing that will happen probably is how will Chihaya make Arata to play again. |

| The style of the text on the back of Arata's sweater made me think of some kind of biker gang... Grand Royal TACKBOSS, it said. I dunno why. It looked like a leather jacket at first, but then I looked again, haha. Thought he went bad-ass and joined some criminal biker gang, or something. xD Anyway, he didn't have to act like an ass when he spoke with Chihaya... That's just a very naïve act. |

| It was a good episode. Again Chihaya demonstrating her robust perseverance which earned her achievement of Class A. Yay for her! :]. However, i'm a little disappointed that Arata seemed to turn out like one of those angst emo child. At first I liked them cause I felt sympathy for those type of characters for the cause that made them that way but somehow it seems to be exaggerated after many anime i've watched which annoys me immensely. I'm only able to tolerate a few. Hopefully there would be a part where something hits into a realization that he still wants to be a karuta master or simply for the sake for Chihaya being around with him. |

I don't think I ever felt that way, but I when I read the comments it seemed like most people did. I never once saw Taichi as a jerk, just a kid who didn't know how to express his feelings. As for Arata now, I'm sure there are reasons for why he quit, although I guess he could of said it nicer. That said, I loved Taichi from the beginning, and even more since his voiced by Mamoru Miyano. I like Arata too, but I want Taichi with Chihaya. | Why is everyone calling Arata a jerk? Quitting Karuta doesn't make him a bad person. And I am sure there will be some reason for it, and he will probably be playing again better than ever in the next few episodes. Anyways, amazing episode, amazing show. |

Plus, WOW his voice is totally different LOL (although obviously but still XD) Kind of reminds me of Hikaru no Go lol, although I never finished that anime I really should but I remember the manga was amazing ... I get the feeling this is much the same :3 |
