Hahah, nice, awesome reasoning for developing the Level Upper xD
That's right, that's what I'd do if I needed to run a complicated calculation : D
Awesome stuff dude, Kiyama, in control of all the 10k connected esper powers, that's one terrifying woman : D
Oy, if she says she doesn't want to hurt anyone, just let her do the research she was going to do instead : D
Anyway, the only thing I'm curious about, is what exactly are the higher-ups of Academy City hiding about the powers? : o
"Child errors"? O.o
I'm intrigued, gief moar : D
Also, kids.. Damn annoying stuff. Loli in bath lol
Those kids were actually pretty mean to her too D: Although.. That old man is probably worse, wth dude that guy's insane O.o
See? That's what I was saying, what if she had some kind of "noble" goal behind making the Level Upper? Which I'd say she had.
Tl;dr lol ghostthingy?

This does remain the most overrated series in the recent past though. I'd put it on Kampfer level at this rate. At least the spin off doesn't feature a plot entirely centered around the main character questing for his harem this time.
Please don't compare this series to Kampfer... It's just wrong.
P.S.: Shikabane Hime was disappointing, you shouldn't be complaining about Railgun.

The fight was actually pretty good until the whole "oops i was still alive and now i'm going to electric hug you" scene. Totally lame way to end a good fight. It doesn't show off Misaka's powers at all and it doesn't give the feeling of her being the underdog.
Kiyama is a level 0, she got ability through the network but she probably never fought once in her live, she have potential to be stronger than Misaka but at this point it is useless. Her blowing Misaka would has been more ridiculous than the opposite.
Also you need to not worry about seein Misaka ability since that the network is now out of control and it's ability to fight is surhuman and it has all the skill Kiyama had.
Falatorx said:
Their method of showing Kiyama's memories was pretty questionable. Misaki shocks her via touch and now she witnesses those specific memories? Don't they have writers? I suppose they needed a way to get The Truth to Misaka though anhd their infamously bad writers couldn't think of anything else.
Sorry but no, memories are electric signal so it make sense this way. Also soon it will be hinted that Misaka has the potential of creating a network like the level upper because with electric signal she could use synthesia and connect brain patern herself tough she's still far from this level at the moment. It means that Misaka has the potential to become a dual skill. You could say that in the heat of the moment she used her power to a new level.

This series might finally answer the question i've had since watching index though. Why students in the city spend all of their time learning about useless theories surrounding their powers. They all can't be specialists in the field so one day they would presumably need to get a job that isn't an ability specialist, yet their schooling system spends 100% of its time teaching them about abilities.
Because ability user will have a work related to that. The world is large and Academy city has the role of teaching about esper power's, if you want to study something else you will go to another city if there isn't the course you want there. I mean they probably has other important course but don't expect random course there. And why the fuck would they show our protagonist in a math class anyway it would be out of context. Ability are related to science, physic, math and biologie, I also expect them to have a language course or two add to that two or three course about the esper poweritself and you get a session running.
Falatorx said:
Will be interesting to see what they do with the fetus formed from all of that power. I sincerely hope that they don't have a stereotypical scene where Misaka faces off against it 1vs1. With these writers you never know though.
These 'writer' like you said are quite logicical, more than most series anyway, because you don't know about something don't mean it is absurb. And to respond to your question
Misaka will face it 1vs1 but will has support from Uiharu who will disconnect the level up user as fast as she can with the cardtrige Kiyama gave her, yes Misaka will get owned before Uiharu enter hack mode. Also note that there'll be some antiskill helping Misaka but they aren't really worth mentionning

Lolwut Kampfer level? Look like it don't make sense to you when it's actually making some to everyone I know, wonder where you get this bad writting thing, especially with what you have on you fav bro.
yup i agree, even if touma was there, there was nothing he could do, considering how strong Kiyama is, theres no way he can cancel out attacks like that with one hand. touma is indeed WEAK, all he has is his lame street fighter skillz. so please guys, stop saying touma could just come out and kick everyone's ass, cuz hes the one that'll his ass kicked, easily.

Yep yep, I would like to say that Kiyama is strong in the point of view that she has many ability but isn't that strong since she has no fightning experience, some level 4 could pull it off, I think that even Touma could maybe pull it off by himself with some condition.
With training Kiyama could be a monster tough, if she had even only three hour to train herself I think that the result of this fight would has been different, thing is that she got her power all of a sudden and is pretty much shooting them randomly hopping to blow Misaka with power alone. Misaka didn't get serious yet, it has been stated that she's toying with Kiyama, wait for the imouto arc to see her real pissed off and how lucky of us the rest of the season will probably be on that :D.
... what in the world was with that ending O_O, didn't think the scientist would have a past like that but at least it answers the questions and possibly why she always seems tired (although that might be something different altogether).

I don't understand you francis, I really don't. Have I said that before?
For one, I can't believe why anyone'd seriously want to have something big spoiled.
Also, it can't possibly get more obvious if someone (like maxime) says Misaka didn't get serious, I mean.. What else could it be? She's obviously gonna be even more badass later.

People who don'T want to get spoiled abstain from this.
The imouto arc also made an appearance in Index (it's the part with accelerator). Basically when she was young, scientifist asked Misaka so that she gives them her DNA for it will be used to save people.
The imouto project unfold many years latter when they create clone of Misaka to level up Accelerator to level 6, in fact 200 000clone will be used for the project. Misaka alwasy tough that clone were creepy and that if she would see a clone of herself she would blast it right away even tough she isn't aware of the imouto project at all.
Misaka met with an esper who call her the 'original' and refuse to beleive that some clone of herself are indeed walking around until she actually see one with her own eyes: She saw a clone of herself trying to save a cat in a tree, after helping her Misaka and her clone start talking and slowly the hate Misaka had for them fade and she slowly get somewhat attached to this clone.
The clone bid her farewell saying that she'll get killed tonight but Misaka ignore her last sentence thinking that it's just a joke.
The esper who called her an original stumble into Misaka, Misaka is full of question and that's where we learn that she's a scientifist who has been working in the first project about Misaka's DNA, the one meant to help others who failed and in the current imouto project.
It's only year latter that they chose to use Misaka's DNA for creating clone for the imouto project, of course the scientifist who helped in the helping project were called back for this one, but this scientifist who tough that clone were only piguea pig at start also got attached to them, tough they were more human than any of those bastard at the top and chosed to left the project.
She also explain in detail to Misaka that her clone will be destroyed for Accelerator to reach level 6.
Misaka is unsure and don't want to beleive it so she run to the point where Accelerator and her clone was supposed to met, right there she found nothing except her clone's google-hairband, she run all over the place to finnally stumble into this fight. Just before dealing the death blow Misaka come into the fight to stop it and kick Accelerator ass but she get totally owned no matter what she do, her railgun did not even scratch him. Accelerator finish the clone before Misaka's eyes then is told by other clone to withdraw from the battle since any interfering may mess up their plan.
That's where Misaka chose to go berserk, if she can't beat accelerator she will stop the clone'S production and thus she start raiding the production lab, not killing anyone but destroying everything else.
Well this is not 100% accurate but it's about what happened from my memory, if someone know i'm wrong then just pm, I'll change the wrong part.

I thought that this was a solid episode. Good action, but I felt bad for the children!
After learning more about Kiyama's back story and the secrets of the higher ups, it makes her actions a lot more reasonable.
The progression of the story feels pretty good. I wonder what exactly this evil embryo will turn into.

What is the bad thing they are doing to make it so bad? I have some questions for you: What in the world is a makeshift shield with magnetic forces?
it was a lot more detailed in the manga what she did. "eyes in the back of her head" = she can see behind her using her ability and she dodged at the last second, also creating a fake body out of the surrounding rubble. they sort of glossed over that in the anime for time and i was sort of sorry to see it go - the diagram of her eyes in the back of her head had this really cute super deformed mikotosama in it. be sure to read themanga if you're interested in this stuff - it won't take you long to read all four volumes.

yeah, you think that it would, but i don't know of anything else they're doing with it right now. maybe something happens in the index novels though - they are way ahead of everything else with lots of new characters and plots.

Liked Kiyama's past wth the children.
n OMG they killed Edasaki >> Ritsu's twin! ((from K-On, if someone doesn't know her))
liked mazui's comment: "Ritsu's an esper? That explains a few things..." loool.
Kiyama is actually a good person, so actually I didn't like the wrong person when I fell in love with her xP. (she was a stripper lady even when she was still a teacher xDD)
"I hate love children"
seems like in next ep we're gonna have a tentacle monster o_O??!
5/5!
Can't wait for some Misaka action next ep~! (no tentacle rape plz >.>")
When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
i really liked this episode
i really want to know what the fetus was >.<
i think i might have an idea but im not sure xD
im probably wrong
awesome fight scenes :)
For your information it is not a real fetus, it is the materialisation of the network and the fact it take a fetus form is just a way to tell the viewer that the network did not matured yet.
Awwww whyd kiyama have to lose, she was AWESOME :D
Best episode so far actionpacked and emotional! I hope Kiyama is ok although I have a feeling she isn't after having a Fetus come out of her head lolz
Quite an interesting episode, and a total "WTF?!?!" ending. Anyway, it was interesting to see Kiyama's true reasons behind what she is trying to do, and a bit touching in an odd kind of way.
I've been wanting to find out if anyone here has an explanation on why at the end of the fight of Kiyama didn't just teleport Misaka away... but only to find myself stuck with 7 pages of comments xD
So yea I'm too lazy to look through all that without even knowing if anyone explained it in any of the previous pages... so anyone want to either direct me to the right page, explain again, or even simply letting me know if anyone has already talked about this in any of the previous pages (yes or no will do)?
Aaahh what the hell is this? This is turning out like Full Metal Alchemist. The Academy city's government is doing some shenanigans? I wonder when will Edward Elric show up.
Kiyama not being evil but instead just trying to expose the true intention of the government really caught me off guard. Now I understand why she created the Level upper, so she could expose the higher ups! Too bad her experiment resulted in a failure and turned her into a monstrous-like fetus.
What I didn't understand was the fight itself. How did Misaka get a hold of Kiyama's body so quickly if Kiyama was at distance after the explosion? Did she idiotically walked towards the "unconscious" Misaka for some reason?
Ok firstly I have to say that Kiyama-sensei is freaking ADORABLE. God, just when I thought my love for short hair can't get any stronger
Misaka's fight was underwhelming in my opinion. Seems pretty short and low end for someone so universally respected. Don't kill me but, I don't think Misaka has been living up to the hype everyone has been giving her so far.
Loved this episode Harumi is definitely the best character in the show, but it was stupid that she got beat so quickly. Really looking forward to the next episode, the show has really got a lot more interesting in the last 2 episodes.
The flashback was kinda long but as it was well done, it added to the episode instead of taking from it. And the fight was pretty cool, even if short. The Tree Diagram has a computational potential equivalent 10000 brains connected in a network? So it really is a super computer... But I wonder what the hell is that thing at the end. Pretty wired stuff.
Dusk252 said: The Tree Diagram has a computational potential equivalent 10000 brains connected in a network? So it really is a super computer...
I suspect that computers and brains act very differently so that you couldn't really straight up compare that 1 Tree Diagram = 10,000 Brains. Also, brain linking might be a bit experimental and not as effective as it could be.
I'm not saying brain liking is a conventional and secure process of achieving processing power. As far as I now, it isn't even possible in the real world and was, as you said, an experimental thing in the anime. But even though our brains and computers function differently (well, computers don't use neurotransmitters, to point out one of the differences), the human brain has been compared to a super-computer, not in its working mechanics but in the what they achieve. As the human brain processing power has been calculated to be superior to all computers ever invented (according to Scientific American, "A computer comparable to the human brain, he added, would need to be able to perform more than 38 thousand trillion operations per second and hold about 3,584 terabytes of memory.", and one of the most powerful computers in the world "has a computational capability of 92 trillion operations per second and 8 terabytes of storage.", and if Kiyama needed 10000 brains working in network (which further improves the computational power) to emulate the Tree Diagram, then it means the Tree Diagram is one heck of a super-computer.
The flashback was nice. Kiyama seems like a chill chick despite the dubious methods. That ending was nuts though, series is infinitely better than Index. Even Touma seems more interesting here then in his own series and the plot is flowing alot better too, after all the power upper thing was being discussed since that episode where Kuroko and Uriharu were kids starting out in judgement in the bank.
Flashback was well done, but idk about this whole baby alien fetus thing. Potentially really stupid, but I guess I'll wait and see where they go with this.
I knew Dr. Kiyama had to be a good guy! Seeing her suddenly become the opposition and the mastermind behind this whole dibacle was a nice twist, but she wasn't completely antagonistic. She was trying to truly be helpful to Misaka and the others, but just had her own unruly method of satisfying her goal. Her flashback completely justified everything! (and was heart-breaking... I almost shed a tear :'( )
