Excited for this one, even though the first chapter of the manga was not that promising. I trust Ikuhara and if he can bring out an Utena with JC Staff he can bring out something worthwhile with silver Link as well.

From the dates on the website it also seems likely to be a Winter 2015 anime, nice.

I actually forgot I read the manga awhile ago. Yeah, the first chapter was so-so but I have good hopes for this series. As revealed after the countdown, this could be a rare gem to debut next year. I don't think it will debut this Fall ofc but likely Winter.

I still need to watch Utena soon :/

Well the director kind of makes this a must watch since he's also the author of the manga

It's by Ikuhara... that should answer your questions.

Yuri, I'll watch this, the original creator directing the anime is a splendid idea, it just may turn out good.

Ikuhara being the author and director, I'm hyped. Need more Ikuhara in my life. Just hopes he tones down his ideas a little this time but pfft like hell he will, and I'm gonna love it.

Why are you calling it adaptation of manga? The project was planned as original anime from the start. Just that Ikuhara launched the manga before the anime aired. It's not so uncommon.

"Seinen"

u fokn kdn m

The last anime I watched with him having a major role in was Mawaru Penguindrum and I have to say that IT SUCKED LIKE A HORNY SLUT.

MAYBE Utena MAY BE better (since I haven't watched it yet) because it's an old anime. But you can't count on this guy for anything new. No creativity can be maintained or developed through the decades by the same person.

Mixed feelings for this. The synopsis doesn't sound that amazing and the score (so far) is low.
I'll wait for the PV to decide.

I don't know but it sounds extremely pretentious, then again this is Ikuhara who is like the all time king of that sort of thing.

Silver Link is actually quite promising. One of its directors, Oonuma Shin, is a fellow Shinbo assistant. Among his works are shows like ~Ef~, Natsu no Arashi, and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia - all quite visually exciting.

Sumimoto Etsuko also worked with Shaft on Madoka. So I'm pretty sure we'll fetch some Shafty vibes out of the show. Ikuhara's vibes are undoubtedly the strongest though xD

And I really hope Morishima's cute and fluffy character designs will not get ruined but carefully animated instead. She's really good.

So visuals are gonna be awesome. Ikuhara's usually decent with music and sounds in his works too, so I'm fairly confident in the media department of the series overall. What I do question is the story itself. The manga until the chapter 3 at least is pretty straightforward if you can speak Ikuhara's metaphor language. It seems to be a common Yuri series set in school, blending the themes of romance and issues of coming-out. But Utena as a manga also pales in comparison to the anime. So I'll keep the fingers crossed and look forward to another Ikuhara's masterpiece.

Well more than likely one of them at least. I can already kind of see people hyper analyzing all his bizarre and arbitrary imagery and apparent symbolism trying to build this complex and deep reflective narrative out of it while in the foreground weird fanservice and fetishism is primarily on display and it all amounts to nothing tangible. If you ask me Penguindrum didn't really make a lick of sense by the end, but boy did so many people find so much to talk about with it. Perhaps the journey and community experience is more exciting then the conclusion in these cases.

Or, I don't know, maybe the other people just so happen to like a show you don't? I don't know if you ever wonder why people get so annoyed with you at times, but putting yourself "over" other people who dare like what you don't is probably a good reason why.
