As title says

I'm checking "Manga & Anime Recomendations" thread daily and when i see what people are writing, I'm surprised! How they can say EXACTLY what they want to watch (i mean their criteria), sometimes they are describing everything that should be/soudn't be in anime and ... they're described like 1/2 of plot that they want.

How do you know what you want with this accurcy ?

Personally I just search for good anime specifically genres that I like. Most of the times I find good anime from user's lists that have High compatibility with me. Than I check various sites that have online anime with ranking system and imdb. Read some reviews and I know if it's gonna be good or not and what it's going to be about generally.

Most of the time I never know what I want to watch. I usually just browse my list and something will just pique my interest on that day more than anything else.

I don't know what I want to watch, that is why I feel so unfulfilled most of the time. I find golden eggs once in a month at best.

I don't know what I want to watch until I find something that intrigues me. I can have this idea in my head that, "now I'd like to see something dark," or "I'm feeling like watching some comedy," but it rarely gets more specific than that. I'm amazed by people who go, "I want an anime where the guy is the heir to a yakuza clan, who's also a cold dick and skips school but somehow manages to still get top grades, and there's a tsundere with blue hair and a sad backstory who becomes his partner," or something weird like that. The strangest part is that there's probably someone who manages to find a relevant anime.

People die when they're killed.
"Hmm.. he just got killed. He died."

People knows when a thought comes to their mind.
"Hmm.. I think I need to watch something funny. Star Driver it is."

Here's one of my specific threads:

In all seriousness, thoughts are spontaneous. It is formed based on your earlier experience, your mood, your taste, your knowledge of what you think you'll like.

Most of the time it's just people recently finished an anime they really like so they are looking for a similar one. It's easy to recommend if they are common elements of many series, but when they go into details such as "attempted rape" and alike, I just give up.

I search on my own for series to watch.

honestly i don't understand highly specific posts either. they boggle my brain.

i usually have a general sense of the feeling of an anime i want to watch. it may or may not be like something else. i just put up a rec for something thats similar in spirit to Magi

i don't even read the long-winded posts that demand a zillion things

Research. *Throws on white lab coat*

Reading ANN articles on upcoming series and other anime news, checking out those "Season Charts" that pop up on every single forum and reading the plot descriptions, watch trailers or openings on Youtube, etc. Then you keep track of the ones that interest you and watch them.

I don't.

Even when I think I have this master plan on what anime to watch I end up watching completely random anime that I happen to find and decide to watch them for the lolz, many of them I forget to add to my list and others I just don't bother putting in. And even when I don't add all anime that I'm watching to the list I still have a huge list of anime I'm currently watching so it's actually more troublesome than anything...

Do you mean when people are like:

"I want an anime about someone with magic powers and in episode 4 he uses them to kill his lover but then in episode 9 he revives her because she holds the key for turning the story into a rom-com around episode 16. And in episode 20 they confess to each other and have a sweet hug followed by 2 kisses. It has to be 2 kisses. Also please make sure it does end happily by episode 24, any deaths and I drop it because my heart can't take something as sad as AnoHana or Clannad :'(((("

?

I guess people do that because they want to find something as close as possible to that fantasy situation. I never want to be spoiled, but when I ask for recommendations I do use some criteria that I know will probably not be met by any anime out there. I still do it to see how close I can get though, and discovered one of my 10/10s as a result.

They're just looking for stuff similar to what they've already watched. Funny enough, unless they're looking for harems or dramas, they're hardly ever going to be recommended something exactly as they're looking for, rather they'll be recommended something that's good from that genre and they'll probably enjoy it.

Actually I often have the problem that I'm totally clueless about what to watch next. So I'm looking for recommendation similar to the animes I liked... But even after zapping through a ton of different anime I'm still clueless. So after my research is done I just start watching the next best anime and sometimes it absolutely nails what I want to watch most and sometimes I get to ser stuff I'm not in the mood for:D.

I think it's sometimes really difficult to find a new series especially after finishing another one.

I'll ask people that have similar tastes if they recommend anything, or just look at things that I've heard about, look at ratings, reviews, etc. If a show has less than a 7 I probably won't bother with it. Also genre.. I avoid romance SoL for example. Have an idea of what kind of show you want to watch before looking
