...Probably the worst One Piece movie that's been made.
Story:
It's just a recap of the Arabasta Arc, which had an a great storyline, that would alone get definitely at least a 9, but the movie left out some great parts like Ace's appearance and Mizu Mizu Luffy. Several things were changed around and shortened (especially the crew's battles) that took away some of its excellence. It is a movie though, so I was expecting a bit to be deleted and left out, but that's why it wasn't too great of an idea to make the 8th movie a recap of an arc, especially a fairly long arc that had a lot in it.
Art:
Some people like One Piece's art, thinking it's unique and different. Some people hate it, thinking it's ugly and horribly drawn. I like it, so I give it an 8 out of personal opinion. The movie did include some nice visual effects as well that added to the animation.
Sound:
Meh, nothing special, but by no means bad. Just...not anything special.
Character:
Character would get a ten, appearances weren't left out. Like Ace's, those pirates who travel with their boat on sand, and those turtle looking guys. However, it did of course include the main characters and all, which are all fabulous.
Enjoyment:
I did enjoy it, and I think most One Piece fans would, just because the last time I watched the Arabasta Arc was a long time ago, and so this kind of refreshed my memory of it. However, like I've said, it left out several great parts, and I think I would've rather had a totally different movie as the 8th movie. A movie that doesn't follow the storyline, just like all the other movies preceding this one. read more

To start things off, i'll just say that this movie was surprisingly interesting to have been a retelling of the Arabasta Arc. Thiis, however, does not mean that it wasn't just a retelling of the Arabasta Arc. Quite honestly, i found it pointless to watch this movie.
The first thing i'd like to touch on is the fact that many characters that appeared in the actual arc were completely omitted from the movie. There is no mentioning of Ace whatsoever; it's as if he never existed.
Even more of a disturbing fact, many events that occured in the arc were also taken out. I wasn't expecting to see the WHOLE series of events; that wouldn't work in the case of a movie. Things that had never been shown in the arc also popped up in the movie. These weren't things that we didn't know, but they'd never been shown in the actual arc. It seemed as if they were being used to fill gaps of some sort.
In terms of the characters, it was pretty much the same old stuff. If you felt a certain way about the characters and their development during the actual arc, then you'll probably feel the same way about them in the movie.
The action in this movie was basically, in my opinion, a down-grade of what it originally was. Time was limited, so all of the fights were shortened. A fight that went on for an episode and a half was finished in about three minutes. One of the fights- if you'd call that incident a fight- was completely skipped over.
My overall enjoyment of this movie was average. It isn't that the movie wasn't interesting in any way. It just felt as if i was watching a dried up version of the Arabasta Arc. The concept was great and all, and i understand that it might've been hard to condense this arc. I just wish that it would've been better; i'd been looking forward to watching this movie for a while. read more
