It's apparent once both get into their theories concerning souls. Both have a great deal of focus on how two souls of completely different people work in unison to achieve common goals. Not to mention, both are funny as hell.
Both have merged souls into weapons and such.
In both there is fights. Both are shonen. Both have souls involved in the story. Both have similar main characters.
weapon meisters with their human-like-weapons and shamans with their ghost partners, easily transformated into weapon have much in common
They talk about souls and try to aqquire more power to their own reasons.

They are very similar, in both you get to see characters with superpowers given by someone.
You get to see a series of fights for the place of "world's king" in both animes.
The characters and they story, the entire anime are very similar, but still difrent and interesting in their own way. :P
Similar stories. Boy gets super power and fights to be the best. When I saw one I was reminded of the other.
They both involve a tournament setting with a cast of characters with distinctly different skills.
I wouldn't call it the same storyline but there are some parallels.
#1 tournament that decides who becomes "king"
#2 superpowers
#3 strong feel for justice and friendship
#4 powers are lent (Ueki: from their god candidate; shaman: from their ghost)
#5 A girl that decided to become the main guy's "manager"
The rest is completely different though, characters aren't really similar.

It's still got the whole ghosts/demons thing going on. I don't know; I find them both similar and enjoyable.
Like Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball and others, it's the adventure of a crowd of heroes who want to save the world from the evil guys. Each one with his own personality and powers.

Meeting enemies with unique powers and making friends along the way.
Similiar shounen story about a boy who wants to become something. In both animes, main character goes long way, meeting new powerful friends, rivals and enemies along the way. There are high spirited fights with unique characters, lots of fun.

Both involves spirits/ghosts either to fight or used in fighting.

|
Both animes have characters that fight each other with unique powers imbued into the form of weapons. Also, there is a united front to fight one overpowered enemy in both animes.

In these anime's, both characters call upon their respective spirits to do their bidding in battles which is to fight alongside with them. Weapons are used pertaining to the spirits that they own, and of course if you really approve or like tournaments then these anime's also had their own sets of battles for our heroes to fight in with the support of their teammates.

It's quiet similar in many ways..

Both feature fighting with the summoned friendly creatures visible only to certain people (spirits in SK and shikigami in OT).
|
|
|
both are about young people who have to save the world(s) with their ghosts/monsters partners
|
|
|
The theme of both anime revolves around tournaments and fighting. The other uses spirits, the other uses secret ninja weapons. I think you'll love them both.

Monsters and lots of duels ^.^

Both are shonen, a group of heroes trying to make your path with magic battles.

Shaman King also mentions about the Onmyouji practice especially the Asakura clan. Although Shaman King has only little scenes about Onmyōdō, they also talk about Shikigamis as a powerful Spirit for the Shaman.

Although Jojo is allot more violent Shaman king has the same idea of spirits popping out of your back and PWNING THE CRAP out of people

|
Fate-stay night has a number of similarities to Shaman King, but as a seinen series is overall darker and more character-focused. Magic takes on a larger role in F/SN than Shaman King. Both series revolve around a tournament fought with spirit allies over an incredible power.

Both suitable for younger audiences. Plot is similar too: overcoming obstacles to reach goal, minimal baddies.

both main characters have an easy go lucky attitude though being strongest among the team.also both animes have tournaments.
