SynopsisThe story begins when high school student Kazuki Muto is killed one night saving a mysterious girl from a monster, only to wake up in his school dorm, believing it to have been a dream. However, he soon finds out that dream wasn't a dream at all when a giant serpentine monster attacks him and his sister. Tokiko Tsumura, the girl he saved, explains that the monster is a homunculus. Kazuki had been attacked and killed by it when he was rescuing her. However, she, feeling responsible for him, revived him by placing a Kakugane medallion in his chest, serving as a replacement heart.
The Kakugane, as Tokiko explains, is an alchemical device that, when activated, takes a certain form based on the Kakugane's user, forming a unique Buso Renkin. The Buso Renkin is the only thing that can destroy a homunculus monster. Using this, Kazuki creates his own Buso Renkin (the "Sunlight Heart", a huge lance). Along with Tokiko and her own Buso Renkin (the "Valkyrie Skirt", an execution scythe), Kazuki joins the fight against the homunculi and their master. |

EDIT: There is one thing i have to say. Watch the first three (or four) episodes, consisting of Papillon. If you enjoy them, continue watching. If you don't, stop watching. It's as simple as that.
The first three episodes is like the mini-arc going into the main arc, setting the scene, and making the expression known. If you do not enjoy the style (art, characters, all around) then you won't enjoy the rest. I'm not saying that it's all exactly like that, but it is enough to tell if you will like it or not.
This was a generally good anime. Though some of the aspects of the anime are stereotypical (Boy with strong convictions, girl who doesn't understand, fall in love when they understand eachother, etc.) there are some atypical points to it. And watching it along side by side with Shakugan No Shana has made it very interesting.
STORY: 7
First off; the Story is relatively good. Not great, but good. The plot goes along the lines of "Hidden Monsters inside the City that we have to eliminate". Very stereotypical. They eat humans to survive, and they must prevent this. But, there's an added danger. Humans can become these homunculus creatures. Albeit they never actually take advantage of this added conflict, there is a point where it is used. I would've liked to have seen more of this aspect, to diverge itself from the other anime. If i could give this story an "Average" score, i would, because it's definitely an average story.
ART: 9
The art was very impressive, and very flashy. The combat scenes were definitely Shounen, along with the other "relaxing" scenes, from the vibrant display of femininity in certain characters, all the way to the flashy display of masculine grittiness. I enjoyed the art sometimes more than the story, because a lot of the time they'd have pretty pictures to go along with the flashbacks that usually distracted me.
SOUND: 7
The opening was fairly good, but nothing that inspired inspiration for me to watch it again, like Bleach or even Erementar Gerad. The ED sequences were fairly interesting, though by that time you're usually just wanting to go on to the next show (whether to see what happens, or in my case to get it over with).
CHARACTERS: 7 (10 for Tokiko)
The two main characters were interesting enough, but my favorite characters were the captain and tokiko. I enjoyed the captain because he strayed away from the typical "I will do the right thing, in my own opinion", and went with "I will do the right thing whether it hurts me or not". And, i enjoyed Tokiko because she went out of the stereotypical beautiful female lead, and was more masculine and gritty rather than perfectly manicured fingernails while weilding a sword. That was my favorite aspect of the characters, was that she was animated and voiced perfectly for the role she was in. I didn't like the submissiveness of the other characters, because it seemed like it was too convenient for the Writers. I give the general cast a 7, and Tokiko a 10.
ENJOYMENT: 8
Overall, it's fun to watch. To see how everything turns out. But that's why you watch them after episode 1, yes? There are plenty of good love scenes, mainly battle scenes, in all its purest Shounen. This was a great anime to watch on a sick day. It definitely makes you happier and in some cases it'll make you angry with "The Man". So if you like action sequences and Dragon Ball Z style "Levelling up because i am inspired" sort of deal, then this is the Anime for you.
OVERALL: 8
I enjoyed this Anime, for its atypical points more than not, but frowned upon the easy plotline. This isn't as epic as Rurouni Kenshin, or as deep as some of the other anime developed by these people. Though, if you start watching this show past the third or fourth episode, you might start to enjoy it! Be warned! It is enjoyable as a whole, but not really much unique value. The best part, i will say, of this series is past episode 18. You think that after the first three episodes that the plotline is over (Which it could've been), then new circumstances arrive.
I'll just leave you with this. Watch the first three episodes, if you like them, continue. If you don't. Stop. read more

Busou Renkin is a story that takes many of its elements from other anime. You'll see elements of Fullmetal Alchemist, Ruroui Kenshin, Shakugan no Shana, Fate/Stay Night, and probably a bunch more. Though Busou Renkin was developed by the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, Nobuhiro Watsuki, it is not as epic as the story of Kenshin was. However, despite some of the obvious points of this series, Busou Renkin manages to uphold fairly well and be a relatively enjoying series.
Busou Renkin means Arms Alchemy. In this story, there are homunculi that are running about the land and its up to alchemic warriors, using these Arms Alchemy devices (which spring forth a weapon based on the users personality) to vanquish the homunculi. This does sound a little bit familiar but Busou Renkin does manage to throw in its own elements and enough plot twists to keep it original. Deep down, however, its still your run of the mill "regular kid rising up out of nowhere to save the world" theme.
The animation is up to par with todays standards, but in some episodes however, you'll see it lacking. Or rather, in some places and characters. Otherwise, there isn't too much to complain of about the art.
The music and such in Busou Renkin isn't all that bad, but its also nothing spectacular. The opening theme song is pretty catchy and the music scores during battles do raise your tension a bit, but what I found missing from this particular anime was that one, catchy song, piece of music that reels you in no matter what was happening in the anime. And thus, at some points, I found myself losing concentration a different points in the show.
Nobuhiro Watsuki must have some kind of fetish with scars, because as with Kenshin, the main female protagonist here has a defining scar too (though the scar is not as important to the plotline as Kenshin's was). Anyway, back to the characters. Kazuki, the main male lead, is your typical hero who I found to be a little too perfect. Without giving too much away, you can say it was hard to go against him in battles. However, Kazuki was your only typical character. Nobuhiro Watsuki has created a plethora of unique (and some rather a little *too* unique if you ask me) characters which is a nice change of pace from the norm.
All in all, a lot of Busou Renkin is pretty cliche and obvious as to what may happen. The ending, in my taste, was a little too premature, in other words, it seemed as if it was put together forcefully to have that particular ending. The pace of the story starts off rather quickly, immersing you immediately without giving all the details, but soon starts to slow back down to a reasonable pace.
If you're looking for a series that's 26 episodes long that's rather enjoyable to watch, but nothing "eye-popping," as well as something with romance, Busou Renkin is something you definitely should check out. read more

Somehow the story is a lot alike.. a guy lives a peacfully life until a mysterious girl comes and gives him power, and then they start fighting monsters together with that girl..
they both have a male who meets a girl trys to save them then they end up joining her and get alot stronger then her to protect her its like the same thing busou is the like the same thing but shorter
The setup for Busou Renkin is in many ways similar to Bleach - right down to the supernatural warriors each with a signature weapon - and Busou Renkin generally feels like a camped-up, deliberately cheesier version of Bleach. Busou Renkin also wraps all its romance and fighting up neatly in a mere 26 episodes, so if you're Bleach fan who wants a similar shounen show, but one which won't last forever, check out Busou Renkin.
Hmm for me the plot are somewhat the same though Busou Renkin is much more sci-fi and modernized than bleach..but instead of zanpakutou Busou Renkin characters use kakuganes as weapon..
They Both include weapons and the transformation of weapons.. i jst think their really alike.,, both are really good!
Starts out with the main character being killed, then being saved by a girl whom has the same power they give them. Eventually both main characters become very strong using a corrupting power. Really follows almost the same exact storyline.
Both are about an ordinary guy turns to a super "hero" with the help of a strange girl, who later becomes his senpai and partner. Plots are similar.
Boy gets weapon from girl. Girl is very mature and tries to keep to herself. Fighting off things that eat humans.
Both these animes deal with a dude with spiritual powers and use big huge swords to battle demons, ghosts,Shimigamis or humunculouse,Kurosaki Ichigo battles demons while Kazuki muto battles humunculouse
Mutou Kazuki and Kurosaki Ichigo are pretty much twins, both extremely stubborn and willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Both stories start in pretty much the same way. The Arms Alchemy is also immensely similar to the Zanpakutous that the Shinigamis wield, as they both are unique to the user and evolve not only the weapon but the users as well, in several instances.
Even if takes your life, you will never give up, you will never back down, you will never let down the ones who believe in you. You will keep going forward! You will fight for the world, for your friends and even for those you haven't met and probably never would. You belive that's the right thing to do and it really is!
Both Busou Renkin and Bleach are created on that same theme. The main characters - Mutou Kazuki and Kurosaki Ichigo, are first thinking about others and then about themselves. But is it an advantage to be so selfless, to care more about the world that about yourself? Who knows? But if you, too, think that the world we live in is worth saving, you must watch these two anime!
In terms of character:
Tokiko is similar to Rukia. They both have feelings for the main male character who they work work and they don't want to admit to it.
Kazuki is similar to Ichigo. They both want to help people and wouldn't be what they are now if the male female character hadn't appeared in their lifes.
Gōta is similar to Renji. They both care for the main female character and don't get on well with main male character however they will work with them if needed.
In terms of weapons:
Buso Renkin's kakugane = Bleach's zanpakutō. They are just simple weapons but then can transform.
The storyline is also similar at times.
Busou Renkin is one of the beat anime i seen...Oay you right you want to know the anime!?
OK its just like bleach because a normal school boy turns into a hero bcause his life was changed by a girl both the same...an the both of the boy wanna potect people with thir life ^^ very good!!!
100%
Bleach has a lot of action in it. They are very similar in aspects of being a normal teenage boy until a female interferes and ends up granting them power and changing their lives forever. It also has the comedy, and dark evil plot likeness that Busou Renkin did. Except Bleach is a lot more serious and longer.
Both have male main characters that start out as normal teenagers until they meet a mysterious girl who gives them new powers. There are also supernatural weapons, strange monsters and lots of fighting.
Both are about boys who meat a woman and gain the ability to fight in her world. Without giving too much away the storylines have similarities with character and plot development. Busou Renkin is however not as serious as Bleach, which is refreshing and also has a good end point.
Both have a super powerful girl that ends up being fighting partners with regular human guys who have big ideas about the world. Both Ichgo and Kazuki want to save the whole world. also there is a little spazy character in each the ends up being of great help.

Nobuhiro Watsuki's newest anime is more like fullmetal then Rurouni Kenshin. Kazuki Mutou and Tokiko Tsumura fight homunculi with alchemic weapons. If you loved Rurouni Kenshin or Full metal alchemist then this is a must see
Both shows feature alchemy, though each has it's own take on what alchemy really is. Many might not find Busou Renkin quite up to par with Fullmetal Alchemist, but both shows are great in their own ways.
Both series are about alchemists fighting homunculi
Both animes center around alchemy. alchemy is portrayed and used differently and each show has its own ideas of what alchemy really is but the basics are very similar. in Busou Renkin alchemy is more secretive while in Full Metal Alchemist it is a well known power that is used by a special branch of the military. Full Metal Alchemist also has Homunculi which are basically the same in each anime besides how they were created. FMA is one of my favorites but they are both very good. if you like Busou Renkin then you will love FMA.
They both involve humunculi and alchemy, but Busou has a different setting being modern Japan. The main character loses his life at the beginning and must live off a metal object which gives him powers.
The story may not be as epic or on list of popularity like FMA, but if you want more alchemist vs humunculi, this one might do it. Did I mention the mentor is a dork? and it can be very strange for enemies, don't expect anything normal from those guys.
It's not entirely like FMA, but it does have Alchemy and Homunculi...You might wanna check it out x]
Others have made the recommendation, similar themes regarding life, some different looks at alchemy, and both pretty solid shounen.
There are alchemist and homunculus both of them.
Both have characters who were facing death face-to-face, but were brought back to life by alchemy.
Both deal and center around alchemy
Busou Renkin has as much action how much FullMetal Alchemist and also is very good.
