Fujioka Haruhi wins a scholarship to attend Ouran Academy, a school reserved for only the most rich and prestigious. Despite what other students may think of her, she cares little for physical appearances or the fact that she is a commoner.

Unfortunately for Haruhi, her high school days take a sudden turn when she stumbles upon the Host Club, an elite club filled with super rich and beautiful boys who use their specific traits and charms to entertain young ladies. Even worse, Haruhi accidentally breaks an 8-million yen vase in the club. Since she is unable to repay her debt with money, Haruhi finds herself with no choice but to work for the Host Club, becoming a male host herself.

Character(s) & Their Development
Every character is based with a sterotype near the beginning of the series. The real question though is if the characters actually grow out of their set roles. After watching the whole series that's both a yes and a no. It all comes down to the fact that the manga is still going and the characters are still maturing in that format; thus, they can only grow so far in the anime without making it a new story entirely. Sure, they stay towards their first impressions but, there are a handful of episodes that explain each Host Club member and their reasoning read more

Alrighty, here we go.

Bisco Hatori has made a comic world of the rich, in which our heroine, Haruhi, is suddenly tossed into a group of five devilishly handsome, but bored, men.

This will be short, but simple: Completely original. I don't consider this a knock-off (or rip-off, if you want) or read more

Ouran High School is one of the best reverse harem anime series I have watched. The first episode really made an impact. It did not start as to be draggy but rather it easily showed the main idea of the story which started when they have discovered that Haruhi is a girl. The story was quite shallow at first which was just showing the different themes of the club and how they entertained the guests but when you continue with the later part of the series, you'll realize that behind all the smiles of the characters, there is a bitter past. The flow of the read more

Looking for a show to laugh your ass off? Look no further, Ouran High School Host Club will not fall short in that aspect.

All the characters are uniquely lovable. Each person has their own specific traits, and without a doubt, their own problems they need to overcome. Everyone has their favorites too, so within a few episodes you'll be rooting for one person to get with the other, no doubt.

Character development and the enjoyment level were the biggest pluses for Ouran. It keeps you entertained nearly the whole way through (except for one or two episodes around 19 or so).

Only weakness I found was read more

Anime: Special A
Special A and Ouran High School Host Club are both shoujo comedies that center around a somewhat special group of high school students. In Special A this group is an elite class of the best students in school while in Ouran its a "host club". Still, the characters in both groups are eerily similar; in both groups you have a perfect male (lead), a cool reserved character, a cute character and a guy who appears to be a dummy.

Also both animes (being shoujo) center around a very clueless (but strong) heroine. Both shows have a lot of silly comedy. The character designs are  read more

Anime: Fruits Basket
Both anime center around a lovable girl who is surrounded by a bunch of bishies (hot guys). Both also has a lot of sweet and comedic moments that will tug at your heartstring and make you laugh out loud. All in all, both are great anime with a list of characters that you can't possibly hate.

Anime: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge♥
Like Noelle said, both shows have a reverse harem thing going on (where boys are after the girl). Not all the guys in Yamato Nadeshiko are after the girl, but it's close enough to be considered a reverse harem. Comedy, weird situations. You'll enjoy both shows.

Anime: Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
it has an interesting love story and the characters are really funny. i think that if you found kaichou wa maid-sama interesting, then you'll probably enjoy this anime as well

Anime: Skip Beat!
It has funny moments as well as serious moments. The characters aren't just crazy and hilarious. They all have backgrounds that aren't really that happy. The main character is also sort of thrown into a world that she isn't used to. There are also many cute guys.

Anime: Aoharu x Kikanjuu
Both involve..
-Main character dressing up like a male, therefore they're being mistaken as a male by everyone instead of a female
-Main character ends up in a host club, damaging some of their belongings, therefore they're forced to join the main character's team
-Both give off VERY similar vibes
-Both involve stunning, attractive characters
-Both male lead in both anime's personality is very similar: Cocky, get lots of ladies, popular
