Violent action sword fighting manga that is extremely well drawn.

Monster fighting, not always ends well, dark ambience.

claymore is basicly a less explicit version of berserk except claymores characters are almost all female

Both Berserk and Claymore involve the main character battling against monsters that take the form of a human for the sake of revenge, however that is not the only thing that the two series' have in common. Both have a dark atmosphere and contain a flashback arc revealing the reasons for the protagonists goal of revenge. Aswell as that both protagonists are burdened with taking care of someone they care about. Chances are if you enjoyed Claymore, you'll enjoy reading Berserk, or vice versa.

Both mangas have a dark medieval setting. They are both also very violent. The main characters both wield giant swords in order to kill demonic monsters. I feel berserk has a richer plot but claymore's fighting scenes were on par with if not better than berserk's.

Both stories are dark and violent. Both main characters wield huge swords to kill monsters.

Similar tone, where the mangaka takes the story and art to dark places.

Taking place in a fantasy setting, Claymore and Berserk outlines the cruelty of their world by the lives of the main characters. There are bloody battles, a thirst for vengeance, and evil that roams in their world. The main characters from both series has great skills in swordsmanship that they display throughout their journey. Yet, they suffer internally by the past actions of certain adversaries they've encountered. Their stories constitute a grim adventure filled with dangers and challenges the audience will feast their eyes on.

Both are placed at a medieval world with a lot monsters. Berserk has a superior art and gore level, but Claymore still pretty good.

If you like dark fighting stories that feature a lot of blood and gore then you should read these manga. Both of them take place in a very mysterious and dark fantasy setting. The fights in them are stunningly beautiful and the main characters are both on a long journey where they have to kill a lot of monster.
report Recommended by Darkbow
Both are set in medieval style fantasy setting, although Claymore has main female character and Berserk male, they both figth with big swords, slay demons/monsters from time to time... If you liked one of them you will certainly like the other because they`re so amazing that it can`t be explained with words without spoiling the content.

Although Berserk is senien but the killing and fighting is quite similar just is that Claymore is less dark and better IMO.

Both Berserk and Claymore take place in a demonic world filled with violence and death, and both fight to survive against monsters odds.
report Recommended by KalfKaneda
Killing monsters, set in a medieval-esque period, and have a dark tone when drawn
report Recommended by Sekaiou
Not as gory as berserk but comparable. It is also about main characters facing similar odds because both claire and guts take on enemies much larger and stronger than themselves.
report Recommended by Scorp1us
If monster slaying action and dark medieval fantasy was what you liked about Claymore I think you'll love Berserk cause it's that and so much more.
report Recommended by Gundroog
Very similar, but not that much. I recommend because if you like good fights, and powerful main characters, you will probably like both

Claymore seems like a rip-off of berserk . It has similar atmosphere , swordfighting , nice art , bad-ass MC , sad story. I actually liked claymore a lot.

Similar to Berserk, this manga focuses on action instead of romance and other genres. Other than the fact that most of the characters here are females, this feels as if it is written by the author of Berserk. The intense action, suspense, amazing world building, personality development, everything is superbly done. Enjoy.

The dark themed world of agony and pain inflicted to the minorities and the weak, and the main heroes that want to change that dark world is what I believe makes Claymore similar to Berserk.
report Recommended by FarKiD
Giant freaking swords, deadly demons, beautiful backgrounds and sinister plots abound in these works.
report Recommended by Treima
Gore. Very bitter struggle.
report Recommended by Neowarden
Both are set in dark fantasy world where almost everything goes against the main character's odds. They are both well written and push trough the scenarios they are put through. Claymore's world is also very interesting and the world building and character developments is top tier.

gotta be honest here, In many ways i like claymore more than berserk. Of course berserk has the better art and individual characters are more interesting than in claymore, But the story moves so fucking slowly that it can get tiring sometimes. Not in the first two story arcs (golden era and the dark knight or whatever), but after that its a little stagnant and there are too many long battles. Especially the last buildup to the sea god battle was kinda grueling and the tentacles lost their charm fast. I know claymore is largely inspired by berserk and you see it at every   read more

Both are masterpieces in their own way. Claymore is more direct whereas berserk is more poetic. Both the manga's have a lot of blood and gore. Both the manga's have stunning characters.Art style is also kinda similar, so can't guarantee but if u like one you'd probably like the other. P.S - Claymore is the closest to berserk ;)

this is as close as it gets. If Berserk is king then Claymore is the queen. Start the journey and don't look back!

Meanwhile waiting for another chapter on hiatus, you might want to check Claymore, same as Berserk main focus of Claymore - outside of swinging THAT sword - are characters and bound they share. Also, with both series, I fell into their grasp with volume #3

-Both Berserk and Claymore take place in a very European, medieval-style worlds. -If you enjoy your dark fantasy setting with lots of gore, blood, violence and monsters.. lots and lots of monsters then you will very much enjoy both of these series.

Others can explain it better, but I am confident that if you like Claymore you will LOVE Berserk and vice versa. Please do be careful of content warnings if needed, however.

Both manga are set in a medieval-style dark fantasy world, where the main characters battle demons preying on humans. The world is rather cruel, and both main characters have revenge as their prime motivations in life and display some other similarities, such as both wielding giant swords. There are many depressing moments (especially in Berserk universe, where the world is downright hopeless), yet there are also times when the heartwarming moments shine up. Lots of action, quite a lot of gore and shock factor. Though a matter of personal preference, I am fond of Claymore more than Berserk, as it has an ensemble cast of characters rather   read more

After catching up to Berserk and looking for similar titles, I came across this masterpiece called Claymore. It's the most similar thing to Berserk so if you want more monsters and a great story, definitely check this one out!!
report Recommended by otakusafi
Claymore has a similar dark fantasy setting as Berserk, but instead follows a female protagonist. The fights are bloody, but I can't say that it matches the brutality of Berserk. It does come close though. If you loved Berserk and are a fan of dark fantasy, then I would highly recommend you try giving Claymore a shot.

Both are very dingy, bloody and tragic!

dark fantasy manga with body horror and really creative monster designs

Let's go around the world with a moody main lead and kill ugly monsters with a giant sword!

Another dark fantasy manga with great artwork like berserk. A creative story with a dark setting and intricately designed monsters drawn so grotesquely. Captivating characters and wonderful story overall. If you're a fan of berserk, then this is a must read.
report Recommended by DarkenedDreamer
Both series have an action, violent and similiar detailed art style. And both are dark medieval fantasy. But Claymore's concept is more likely Witcher. Also main characters are woman. And also both series have a tragic backstories.
report Recommended by XEBION
Dark medival fantasy (unique) MC having tragic past (sad) Lots of gore and distrubing stuff (yumm) Rivalry bw mc and villian was good (yes) Slaying monsters and action heavy (yeah) Both having good artwork (berserk has better imo) Low-mid text easy read (thank god) Both having incomplete and bad anime adaptations (bwhaha lol) CLAYMORE HAS AN ENDING!!! berserk doesnt(sad pikachu face)

they both have very similar elements probably the mangaka of claymore was inspired by miura

Same general vibes, including amazing monster designs and beautiful scenery. Just toned down in the violence department.
report Recommended by Squatch70
because both Berserk and Claymore are gore-type sleeves, vintage, with excellent drawings and although their history differs, none of them is not developing well.

Both are dark fantasy stories.

Though the stories are quite different, the art styles are similar. Both the mangakas use a really unique shading when creating panels. As well as the world it is set in, both are medieval times, swords, armor, horse and wagon for transportation, that kind of thing. Claymore really stands out for me personally is the way Noritoshi Yagi writes his chapters or as in his manga, Acts. I think using Acts instead of chapters makes for smoother arc transition. Where as chapters usually are short and have multiple within each new arc, acts are pretty much cutting out the extra chapters. All of the lore   read more

For fans of Berserk seeking a new adventure, Claymore offers a compelling parallel with its intense battles, wielded by formidable warriors known as Claymores, reminiscent of the dark and visceral combat found in Berserk. Both series share a penchant for complex characters with haunting pasts, weaving intricate narratives that explore themes of isolation and sacrifice. Claymore's dark fantasy world, replete with ominous landscapes and supernatural elements, provides a captivating backdrop akin to the rich and immersive universe of Berserk.
