Bad anime are very fun to watch with friends and they make the easiest reviews to write. I also love to watch bad anime with my girlfriend. Our first date was watching Ninja Resurrection together. An edgy piece of shit from the 1990s in which the real life historical samurai, Jubei Yagyu, fights against Crystal Dragon Jesus! Also there is a medieval samurai with an Ironman suit that's never explained.
My score would definitely be higher than 5 if I only watched good anime.

Thx for the friend request ^^
I only watched the first season of Sailor Moon. I don't dislike it per se but Magical Girl anime just really aren't my niche. Unless you count Elfen Lied as a magical girl anime. I also really love the Cutey Honey franchise and Revolutionary Girl Utena. My girlfriend is the magical girl expert. She loves her shows like Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, Fancy Lala, Creamy Mami, Minky Momo, etc.
I didn’t read your last comment, but apparently the way you comment and reply did not give me a reason to reply leniently even though I’m normally a nice guy, just very cynical compared to most in terms of rating fiction. If you’re wondering why I continue to watch shows I rate very low, let’s just say it’s akin to why many people would continue watching a house burn down or a runaway train crash and burn. Plus I’d still get complaints from many people anyways if I just dropped all those series.
I erased your comments because I found them obstructive to look at. Cause it’s literally the same inquiry over and over. Why should I even bother leaving such comments on there when they’re not even amusing to read?
There’s many other people with as bad as a “problem”, if not worse, with their ratings, yet you can’t judge them by how their ratings are. Yet it seems like you’re acting like I’m the only one with an actual problem. I’m not sure why you’re bothering with me in the first place, but it would’ve been better if you never questioned anything in the first place when we have the freedom to rate how we want, anyways. If anything, you should have issues with those who ONLY use 1-3s as their ratings lmfao.

The "cool" MAL users would generally consider stuff like Trigun, Kenshin or Spice and Wolf to be 5/10 series. At best 6/10 but certainly not top 10 material.
Even though my top 10 roster is already considered fairly weak by MAL standards, Elfen Lied is still easily the worst rated of that top 10. Elfen Lied is a series with many, MANY flaws that are immediately apparent. Despite that, it's a series that made a very deep impact on me and I absolutely love it. I figure I might as well be honest with my top 10 and make it more personal rather than trying to be objective.
Elfen Lied was always a highly polarizing series, but it did have a cult following back in its day. On Anime News Network it still boasts an 8.30 rating. On IMDB it has an 8.0. On MAL it's around a 7.55. On Anilist, Kitsu, and Letterboxd it has a rating in the 6-6.5 range. Purely in terms of ratings, I think Letterboxd is actually my favorite site. It's so incredibly elitist that it's fair. The trashy stuff I like is rated just like the trashy stuff other people like. The only things rated above an 8 are 300 IQ art films from 60 years ago that are in black and white. Gintama and Elfen Lied are basically the same thing on Letterboxd, because they aren't Soviet art films by Andrei Tarkovsky.
