~~MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD~~
By the time I finished watching the first season of this, I couldn't tell whether I really liked it or not. For what it was, I did have a good time watching it. But continuing forth, I'm not so sure if a potential second season will be worth waiting for. I'll just list my personal pros and cons down below.
Pros
One of the biggest things talked about in this show is about the main antagonist, Mami. Everybody hates her. Everybody despises her. Even the voice actresses got literal death threats over the media just for voicing her character. So why is this listed as
...
a pro? Because I really like Mami as a character. Let me rephrase that- I really despise Mami (as you should with antagonists), but that is also the reason why I love her character. Mami adds a sense of suspense, big-time drama, and the overall "eyes-glued" feeling to this show.
Another pro about this show is its story. For those of you who have read the manga, please be aware that I haven't. I've only watched the anime so far, so I'm not really sure how far this series will go. According to most manga readers, the biggest complaint is that there is no progress in the romance aspect of this story. That being said, I really love the concept of this story. Boy gets dumped; rents a girlfriend out of pure desperation and humiliation; eventually develops feelings for said rented-girlfriend. I thought it was very creative and pretty entertaining to watch.
Characters. I really love all the characters in this show, except for the MC Kazuya (I'll get to that in my cons section). All the girls have distinctly different personalities. Chizuru is talented at what she does. She takes pride in her job as a renting-girlfriend. At the same time, she hides it from the general public (or in this case her college life). Mami is evil, sadistic, and loves to cause drama. She is a very well written antagonist. Everybody despises her, proving what a great villain she makes. Ruka is wild, and very open. She will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. And lastly, we have Sumi. Our precious Sumi barely got any screen time in the anime, but she is already a fan-favorite. She is shy, has no confidence in herself, and has almost zero self-esteem. Seeing her character develop a bit by bit is the most exciting aspect of this show in my opinion.
Overall design/art. Animation for this show is beautiful. Character designs are amazing. Slice of Life aspects are all in check. Beautiful colors and voice acting are all amazing. I have zero complaints in this category.
Cons
MY biggest problem with this series is the same as everybody else. Kazuya is without a doubt, the WORST MC of all time. His harem spot is totally wasted. I get that the author was trying to put in a sense of realism by making him the way he is. But he takes it way too far. He's total scum and straight up disappointing. I'll admit he has his good moments every so often (saving Chizuru's life) but none of it is even close to making up for what a scumbag he is.
Development. I don't have much to say, because I have not read the manga yet. But it was very disappointing to hear from the many fans who are still upset by the fact there there is almost no romantic development in this show. Even after many,
MANY chapters, the romantic progress is still at a stand-still. Hearing that minor spoiler kind of killed this series for me. I'm not even looking forward to reading the manga anymore.
Conclusion. All in all, the show was great in my opinion. However, hearing about the future of this series was kind of disappointing. Although I do look forward to seeing a second season, I'm keeping my hopes very low.

~~MINOR SPOILERS~~
My overall review: 9.5/10
Still has some very minor flaws, but quite an impressive second season.
Wow. Just the other day, I had finished the first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets. Nevertheless, I moved onto season 2. I was having such a blast with the second season, that I binged the entirety of it in just a single day.
I want to start off by saying how impressed I am with this second season of the Quintessential Quintuplets. From past experiences, harem animes tend to spiral downward after the first season. However, this was not the case. If anything, the first season felt like a chore to
...
watch compared to the second. It gradually just got better and better. Hell, the last couple of episodes almost managed to jerk a tear out of my eyes. Especially seeing Miku cry, as well as Ichika apologizing to Miku.
I would go as far to say quite literally everything about the second season was a huge improvement compared to the first. Animation quality felt much better, and the story was much more engaging. Character development is a key factor in this series, and the anime managed to capture it quite well. I am super impressed.
Also for those who finished the second season as well, I am sure this goes for a lot of people: I really hated Nino in the first season. I couldn't stand her. Spoiled, annoying, loud. But the reviews were no joke. She redeems herself as a character in my view. Character development in this series is incredible. Can't wait for the upcoming movie.

~~SPOILERS AHEAD~~
In my opinion, The Quintessential Quintuplets is one of the better harem animes out there. It’s got a very intriguing romance story between a high school boy and quintuplet sisters. If I remember correctly, there wasn’t much fan service either to my surprise (except maybe 1 or 2 episodes). Overall, I enjoyed watching this show a lot, despite its many flaws.
What I liked about this show: For starters, I thought the story is great. Very original with an interesting plot. Second, the characters are very amusing. The quintuplet sister go accordingly: Ichika = 1st child; Nino = 2nd child; Miku = 3rd child (my
...
favorite because she’s just too precious); Yotsuba = 4th child; and lastly, Itsuki = 5th child. I thought their names were very creative because they go by number order: ichi=1; ni=2; mi=3; yon=4; ī=5. Each sister has wildly different personalities, although they are all almost equally uneducated. This is where Futaro comes in as their tutor. The voice acting for this show is one of the best I’ve ever encountered in an anime. Each of the voice actresses for the sisters really match their characters’ personalities. I found this show to be pretty enjoyable, and I already started on the second season.
What I didn’t like: Despite how much I enjoyed this show, there are an incredible amount of flaws. My biggest flaw with this show is its animation. I thought the animation for this show was really underwhelming. It wasn’t terrible. In fact, this show contains one of the most beautiful fireworks scene I’ve ever seen in an anime. However, that does excuse it from its really choppy animation. Another huge flaw with this show is that a lot of key moments are very forced, primarily for the plot. You might be thinking that’s totally normal. But I felt this show lacked in effort, because some of the scenes were played out ridiculously. One example: Futaro has a blonde wig on and Nino already recognized him as the boy from the picture in Futaro’s handbook. Futaro goes on with the lie, saying his name is Kintaro, when obviously he should have just taken the wig off and tell her the truth to avoid any further trouble. I am aware that Nino is dumb, but no person should automatically think a cheap wig would automatically make someone a completely different person. I understand that was used for plot purposes, but it was pretty ridiculous to watch.
Flaws aside, I really enjoyed watching this show, and it’s something I can definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice romantic story revolving a not-so-ecchi harem cast.

~~SPOILERS AHEAD~~
There seems to be a lot of people who hate on this anime for two reasons. 1.) It's overhyped as hell. 2.) People always shit on how the anime butchered the actually story from the manga, and made it a thousand times worse.
Then there are people who love this show because 1.) They're usually new to anime, and started watching this because of the hype. And good ol' number 2.) Zero Two's character design is unnecessarily hot and she's just adorable as hell.
I found many positives and negatives to this show, but I'll keep it brief.
This show is pretty overhyped. This could be
...
because of it's huge influence on the anime community all over social media like Instagram and TikTok. And I also have to agree with the haters, in which the anime's ending really was butchered. The manga had a much better ending, and I am unsure as to why the animators didn't stick to the original story.
Despite the issues I found with this show, I still enjoyed the hell out of it. In my many years of watching anime, this one left a pretty big emotional impact on me. Even though the ending was totally random and unexpected, it still made me pretty emotional to see the relationship between Zero Two and Hiro become destroyed like it did. The total NTR factor in which Hiro chooses Zero Two over his literal destined soulmate/childhood friend felt pretty wrong to me. Yeah, I love Zero Two, but in all honesty Hiro should have ended up with Ichigo.
The first half of the show was really great. The whole idea behind this story was awesome. Character designs, soundtrack, everything else was pretty good, so no complaints from me.
For those of you who want the happy ending, please go check out the manga.

Ever since its initial release back in 2017, I've seen a lot of memes, pictures, and overall good reviews of this show. It wasn't until the second season, Kobayashi-san Chi no Dragon Maid S, was released that I started watching this show.
To start off, all the hype over this show was absolutely worth it. This is without a doubt, the CUTEST anime I have ever watched. Every single character has a loveable personality, and fit so well into the show in which they complement other characters with similarities and contrast alike. Although this show isn't necessarily a linear story with huge arcs and stuff, its
...
almost episodic with different segments running for each episode, kind of like Nichijou. It was thoroughly enjoyable with plenty of funny moments that made me laugh.
Something unique about this show that I really liked was that it kind of dives into a "yuri-harem" genre, which is something I don't encounter very often. What's so great is that this show isn't overly sexual, and contains little to no fan service. The only fan service I can think of is one of the Dragons named Lucoa, who does give off some pretty sexual vibes. Other than that, I can't help but admire how wholesome and adorable this show is.
Dare I say, Kobayashi-san Chi no Dragon Maid is Kyoto Animation's BEST project (yes, even better than Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice), and the release of the second season has me very excited. This show always manages to leave a smile on my face.

2.0 You can (not) Advance is where the “Rebuild” in the Rebuild Franchise takes place. 1.0 followed the original story, meanwhile 2.0 does the same as well as adding in new elements. I will admit, the first time I watched it the dramatic turn of events had me choking on my own breath. That being said, it was a beautiful turn of events, a welcomed one. This is without a doubt my favorite anime movie of all time. Cinematography, soundtrack, animation, everything is a perfect 10/10. Most people did not welcome the addition of the new pilot Mari Makinami Illustrious. Those same haters complain
...
that she is just fan service and add no importance to the plot. What those haters don’t realize is how much Mari does for the story. She is very talented, and an almost perfect counterpart to Asuka as a pilot. They both work extremely well together, and she has her own set of unique personality traits. By “working together” I mean that they are both exceptional when piloting the Evas. If you look back to the times Asuka pilots alongside Shinji or Rei, there will only be a handful of moments when things were out well. Asuka’s rough tsundere nature always gets in the way, as all she does most of the time is bitch, complain, and cry about how things didn’t go her way. With the introduction of Mari, that changes, and I really liked this new aspect on Asuka as a character as well. The final scene in which Rei sacrificed herself made me super emotional, and it is my favorite animated scene of all time. Everything about it, especially the music, brings tears to my eyes every time. With the upcoming release of 3.0+1.0 on August 13, 2021, I leave my mark here. I cannot wait to see how this rebuild franchise ends.

Personally speaking, I cannot name another film that left a bigger impact on me mentally. Was it a good impact? A negative one? To be honest, I just don’t know.
Evangelion is without a doubt my favorite anime franchise of all time. Everything about it. The setting, philosophical themes, characters… I could go on all day.
People debate all the time, whether Hideaki Anno intentionally made this franchise philosophical or not. This idea stems from the many philosophical themes present in both the show and movie. Me personally, it doesn’t really matter. I felt that other parts of this franchise outshines its “philosophical” parts. This coming from
...
the characters themselves, and their given set of characteristics.
Ikari Shinji, who is painfully relatable. I absolutely hate Shinji’s guts. I wish I can beat him to a pulp, and knock some sense into his dense brain. What I hadn’t realized is that my hatred for Shinji comes from a sense of relation. In some situations, I feel the same way in which Shinji acts. Stubborn, afraid, and clueless. Shinji is both understandable, yet very frustrating to look over at the same time.
This movie as well as the show does well to dive into the many “human” characteristics that people suffer through. Depression, greed, anger, sadness, etc. I felt that each character did well to portray a certain characteristic. Shinji symbolizing depression and escapism. Rei who struggles with self identity. Gendo who is greedy yet willing to sacrifice for what he desires. Asuka representing love through destruction and anger.
To this day I still struggle to pinpoint what it is about this franchise that left me in such a poor mental state. That being said, 10/10 would go through mental crisis again.

A couple of days before this movie was finally released in international theaters, I saw on an instagram post that IGN had given it a review of 7. Immediately, I rushed to the comment section to see what long awaited fans had to say about this mediocre review.
“What are you guys smoking?” “Who’s doing the movie reviews for IGN?” “Whoever reviewed this needs to get fired!” “You guys don’t understand nor appreciate good anime.”
Mind you, these comments were from people who haven’t even seen the movie yet. So what was the cause of this outrage over a very average review? Hype.
Undeniably, this movie is
...
the most successful film in Japanese history. It even ruptured international charts upon its release outside of Japan. Demon Slayer is a very popular franchise, in which the first animated season was very successful. The manga is very popular as well, and overall a majority of fans really love the story. I am also a fan of this franchise, as I had a blast watching the first season when it was released in Netflix.
This movie was very well animated, as expected from UFOTABLE. The animation for the first season was incredible, and practically eye candy for anime enjoyers alike. A common saying towards the Demon Slayer franchise is that whether or not people enjoy the story of Demon Slayer, I have yet to see someone criticize the god tier animation produced by UFOTABLE. In that aspect, this movie was very pleasing to watch.
My problem with this film comes from the actual content. Sure, the animation did make it entertaining to watch, but that was the only thing keeping me from leaving the theater early. And to put it simply, good animation alone isn’t quite enough to make me enjoy something. As I was also a long awaited fan of this film, my impatience got to the best of me, and I started reading the manga.
Wow, I was surprised as to how extremely mediocre the manga was. I had a hard time staying awake while reading, yet I finished it through to the end. I was still very hopeful, because the first season was made very entertaining. Then I thought, maybe there’s some aspect about the anime that made it much more fun than the manga.
Alas, the movie was released, and to my surprise, it was still very boring. Side characters were extremely nerfed for comedic relief, the story felt very basic, and the action was super underwhelming.
Overall, the movie wasn’t terrible. Just painfully mediocre. The story was boring but tolerable. Hopefully the upcoming second season can fill this gap in my heart. Wouldn’t watch this film again, nor recommend it to anybody. IGN was being generous with the review score of 7 in my opinion. It was definitely justified.

“What are some funny anime recommendations?” “What are some of the funniest animes you have seen?” “What’s an anime that will make me laugh my a** off?”
Probably the one series that is brought up the most when these questions are present is Grand Blue. Nevertheless, I gave it a shot… only to be extremely disappointed.
I have not read the manga beforehand, but after completing the anime series, I don’t plan to read the manga anytime soon. Grand Blue is without a doubt one of the unfunniest animes I have ever watched. I know it sounds like I’m over exaggerating, but after all the hype surrounding
...
it as “one of the funniest series,” I was pretty upset at how painfully mediocre it was.
The story is easy to follow, and in all honesty it is pretty decent. The characters were so beautifully designed, and the overall art style used in the anime was very pleasing to watch.
My problem with this anime is how irrelevant the story was. This was supposed to be a story about a group of college students and their diving adventures. What did we get? Yeah, we got some diving,… but a good 90% of the show was body builders stripping buck naked and drinking ungodly amounts of alcohol. What made this series pretty irritating to watch is its repetitiveness in unfunny jokes. I’ll admit, there was some moments that gave me a good chuckle. Maybe the first few times the main characters were forced to strip and drown themselves in alcohol were kinda funny. But that’s all the show was. Tsundere girl gets mad at MC. MCs get naked with the body builders and drink. Repeat.
Really don’t understand how so many people found this “hilarious” or even remotely funny. Overall it wasn’t necessarily a bad show, but I was pretty bummed out at how unfunny it was compared to the hype around it.

To this day, I still cannot grasp the love for this series. “The beginning is slow!” “You have to keep watching it!” “Most people drop it only after like… 6 episodes…” Well, here’s my 2 cents. No anime should take THAT LONG for me to finally hold a somewhat bland interest in it. Allow me to go more into detail.
I really struggled to finish this series. It’s as everyone says. The beginning is SUPER SLOW and agonizingly boring. Nevertheless, I got through it to the end. And to my surprise, I was very dissatisfied.
Things that I thought were great about Steins Gate:
The most amazing
...
thing about this series is the unique art style. I really loved the style of Steins Gate. I can’t quite describe it in words, but something about the style and animation used for this series is beautiful. The character designs (for the most part) are excellent and the soft tones keep it easy on the eyes.
Voice acting for this series was great as well. I don’t really have much to say about that. The soundtrack, openings and endings were all very well made and pleasant to listen to.
Now the cons:
The biggest problem I have with this show are the characters. The love for Okabe is so unreasonable, and I just don’t understand why so many people love him. He is without a doubt, the MOST ANNOYING character in anime history (behind Nina from Code Geass, Gabi from Attack on Titan, and Asuka from Evangelion). My very first impression of him was as if he was a 6 year old who just stuffed his face with Halloween candy and went on a massive sugar crash. He’s a human symbol for ADHD on steroids.
Then comes his derpy, pervert otaku friend who takes every chance at ogling Makise. Such a forgettable character, I already forgot his name.
That being said, the only sensible character I came to like was Makise. Beautiful, fierce, and intelligent. Can’t ask for much more. Mayuri was adorable and one of my favorites, but too bad her character was so damn submissive and unrealistic.
The story takes way too damn long in the beginning. The very first episode was confusing, which is what pushed me onto the second episode. From there on out to the next 4-5 episodes, it was agonizing and dreadful. It was so hard to keep my eyes open because it was so insanely slow and boring. To make things worse, Okabe’s hyper character only pissed me off and made me not want to watch it.
Overall
Even though I despised the story in the very beginning, I gradually began to see it unfold at an easy going pace. I won’t deny that it was a fantastic story by the end of the series. My problem was that it took way too long for me to even gain the smallest amount of interest. Peer pressure and the insanely good reviews are what kept me going through this series to the very end.
Time travel is not an easy subject to put on screen. That being said, I believe Steins Gate did a pretty fair job. Only a handful of characters were memorable, meanwhile most of them were so annoying, I can’t even stomach looking at them anymore.
Was a terrible show? Absolutely not. Does it deserve the high rating it has? In my opinion, it really isn’t anything special. Very forgettable and not very intriguing. Hard to recommend it to anybody.
