School Days doesn't really do much comedy at all, so you won't be getting the same re-hashed jokes. There isn't even a tsundere in it (thank God). It also moves pretty fast in comparison to other harems when you consider how quickly relationships develop. I definitely wouldn't call it cliché.

"Fascination brought on by something disgusting" sounds possible. I would never actually call School Days bad, though. I think it's an amazing show, just in a much different way than most amazing shows.

And that's why you just need to see it. There's one very important factor about the show that pretty much justifies everything else, but I don't want to say what for fear of spoiling it.

Ooh, I really liked the Psychology class I took in my first semester. It was an extremely rare case of actually enjoying the work I was given for the class. I think that's a good choice if you do switch to it.
I actually hated School Days a lot, particularly the characters. They are so hateable. But...well, you really need to see it for yourself. And yes, there is a yandere in it. A very yandere yandere. And out of the pig feed of characters the show gave us, she was easily my favorite.
Uh...I wouldn't say that. It's kind of hard to explain. It does what it means to do extremely well, but a lot of people won't like seeing that, and really, that might be its goal, too. It's...sadistic, I guess. So you should like it, right?
I go to a University, but I'm between semesters now so I've not got much to do until the 9th. I took a semi-break after high school but pretty much went straight to college.

The sort that that can view the suffering of fictional characters like a curious (or evil) scientist who conducts social experiments on a bunch of unknowing test subjects (victims) with intense academic interest (while cackling madly).

School Days is...interesting. It's so easy to hate, but it's like you're supposed to hate it, and so in that regard it's an amazing success. Read Ceptryn's review to get a feel for what you'll be getting into. Personally, I think it's something any anime fan should try out.
