***Anime watching activity: ACTIVE; PROFILE OUT-OF-DATE DUE TO TRAVEL/WORK*** ***Literature reading activity: SEMIACTIVE; ALSO READING NOVELS (MAL DB DOES NOT HAVE NOVELS)*** My Score Scale: 10 - masterpiece; not a score I hand out easily, no matter how much I may enjoy the work 9 - excellent; 8 - great; 7 - good; this is my "average" because creators normally don't go out of their way to make bad or mediocre products to offset good ones 6 - positive; 5 - mediocre; this is what most consider to be "average" but is more correct to define as true mediocrity 4 - negative; 3 - bad; 2 - horrible; about the lowest it can go for something really bad that at least avoids offending me 1 - appalling; if it insults my intelligence in addition to having no redeeming qualities, this is what it gets Note 1: I don't agree with MAL's scoring, and I consider myself on the stricter side given that my overall score average is below 7. I don't consider myself asinine, however, and I rarely waste time seeking out bad anime/manga on purpose, so I highly doubt my overall score average will dip below a 6. Note 2: I try to be objective in my critiques and therefore limit the impact of enjoyment in my scoring to a minimum. As much as I'd like to express enjoyment, MAL lacks a second scale or list for it. They offer an extremely limited "favorites" list, but it is unfortunately hard-capped to just 10; being a Supporter only raises this to 20 instead of removing the cap altogether, making the paid subscription not at all worth it. A lot of my favorite shows are scored 8 or below. ***Scores on previously watched shows may occasionally change*** ***I do not track rewatching on MAL*** My stats (0-10, 10 being highest) as of Fall 2020 Judgment: Logos: 9 - how logic influences my judgment Ethos: 5 - how ethics influence my judgment Pathos: 1 - how emotions influence my judgment |

The funny thing is that my opinions on Madoka have soured considerably in the 4 going on 5 years since I wrote that review. The original review score I gave my Madoka review was a 6. That was also the third review I wrote to try and properly articulate what I felt (spoiler alert - the previous two didn't come close). I've been tempted to rewrite the whole thing, but that would be a fool's errand because my opinions haven't deviated /that/ much. If I /were/ to rewrite the whole review, I'd probably just keep 90% of what I said and just rewrite it so that it reflects the vitriol I have built up to it now as an adult. Also, I'd be losing 4-5 years worth of upvotes if I rewrote the review. I'm barely relevant anymore as it is, I don't wanna set myself back even more. That's why I lowered the score from a 6 to a 4.
Otherwise, it's been four years since I regularly watch anime, so it's been a long time! I hope you can spend time watching anime if you are interested. The only advice I can give you is to look at everything and never limit yourself to a few genres that suit you.
I hope that my review on Natsume Yuujinchou will have helped you a bit. :)
