Parody is just a part of the huge variants of Comedy
Well I guess I could say it but then it would be a Spoiler.
But let´s say Gintama isn´t a Comedy Serie. It is more. It is Action, Seinen, Shounen, Romance, Comedy, Samurai, Drama, etc. All Genres are part of Gintama.
Dark, deep, sad, frusttrating (When you understand many things and realise fuck "......." won´t name it, because of Spoiler) Crying like a child.
You will realise that.
Then like every Character can have some hidden meaning. Teaching you something. When you have background knowledge about some things you will see more and more.
And many people tend to underristemate that. When you ever catched up with Gintama. And you have question toward the things I just said, then I glady answer you.
Or Parody.
Soo be Gundam, One Piece, Naruto, One Piece, Detective Conan, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Everything gets some kind of Paroy. Even a thing like SAO.
