I haven't seen anything Ghost in the Shell in ages (used to watch Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig almost every night), but I plan to delve into Innocence, 2.0 and Arise soon enough. See how they handle themes of artificial intelligence, identity and transhumanism (the line between humanity and technology). See how Section 9 will work together to unravel conspiracies, complex cases and take down dangerous criminals in each installment I have yet to watch. I also plan on replaying that Ghost in the Shell game which has been a long time since I last played it.

A semitomboy from Maryland your age that I haven't seen in months is also a big fan of that franchise and cyberpunk, especially Stand Alone Complex.

Unraveling mysteries, conspiracies and taking on complex cases are part of the reason why I love X-Files.

As for Japanese, the best overall summary is Instant Japanese. Though, I will say that the Japanese/English Bilingual Visual Dictionary by DK is very helpful as well.
