I was born in March 11, 2007—
a quiet arrival into a world that spoke in many tongues.
Filipino warmth, Spanish fire, Chinese grace—
each thread woven into the tapestry of my being.
I grew not just in age,
but in questions, in stories, in contradictions.

From the earliest days, the written word was a haven for me. Books were more than items—they were windows, secrets, and friends. Manga dragged me into thousands of worlds, all of which were different yet familiar at the same time. Poetry described the truths I could not articulate yet. I did not read solely to escape—there was deeper meaning. Each tale I consumed became a thread that got stitched into the larger tapestry I was crafting within myself.

Animation came into my life like sunshine seeping in through dusty curtains—gentle, dazzling, and everlasting. The beauty of motion captivated me even when I was four years old. I adored the voice behind the art, as well as the emotions found in a single frame. There was something so sacred in the faults and imperfections of vintage anime. The silence, longing, and the subtleness of what is unsaid was everything. I have watched over a thousand series, read thousands more manga, and strolled alongside so many fictional characters—every single one of them changing me.

Yet, the inward journey was not always soothing. I previously chased growth and progress believing it to be flawlessness. The pursuit of my “best self” ultimately led to my undoing. Every reflection was scrutinized and analyzed to death, every dialogue was turned into an assessment. Like an unyielding critic, I went out looking for defects - in others, in myself, in absolutely everything. Such was my restrained unkindness disguised as self-betterment.

Then, I stumbled upon the trap: my perception was tainted because of my pursuit of perfection. And thus, I decided to stop running - I relived my past choices, this time refusing to erase them. I instead chose to bear my past, but not as an anchor. Rather, as navigational aid. The moniker I chose for myself, Levanity, is not a title, but a recollection. “Lev,” signifying levitation or soaring, alongside transcendence denotes the desire to become more. Vanity echoes ego and beauty - the lying mirror juxtaposed with the honest mirror. Serving as a reminder that all is vanity and nothingness while that which makes it meaningful.

Presently I gaze at sunlight while recognizing its shades rather than trying to avoid them. Its light is not flawless. Though the sun has burning power along with blinding effects it continues to foster all living things. I see in the sun the qualities I want to embody because it shines majestically with imperfect perfection into the world without demanding any praise. For an instant I breathe in and my heart steadies itself with acceptance of all the complexity that exists within me.
