It gets insanely better, the anime wasn't a good adaptation either, since they cut some stuff and changed a few things. The 1st season of the manhwa (which was what was adapted for the anime) is an introduction. Ik it's weird, taking so many episodes/chapters to introduce a story but it makes sense considering the fact that it has huge world building and a large cast of characters.

After bothering a friend for a long time I finally convinced him to read ToG, and he read 500+ chapters in less than 2 weeks, and he doesn't even like reading. To get the full experience I would recommend you to read since the start, since they for some reason decided to cut some characters names (from the anime), that are mentioned in the first chapters and are rly important to the plot and some other stuff. The art isn't the best in the first season of the manhwa (even tho I think it fits the atmosphere) but it gets rly good later on.

Sorry for the big wall of text but I always try to convince people to give ToG a chance since I think it's insanely good and underrated.
