Nope. Once the anime starts, I don't like to be surprised.

yo , got round to watching Blade runner yet ?
Raggadish Jul 3, 7:49 AM
That would be really sad and I would probably stop watching anime if that happened. I think many studios actually may go for this route but as long there is studios like Wit or MAPPA that goes for quality or original works at least some shows is going to be interesting to watch. Many of that kind of shows is often the highest watched and rated shows per season as well, which most mean more money in many cases. Which hopefully will keep inspiring studios to go for more creative works than the lazy cash grabs *hold thumbs*

But I agree, the past season is mostly of the low quality fast cash grab variety.

Actually, I´m a bit divided regarding the state of anime. I feel the same, it would be impossible to have every show doing something completely original or fresh. But it really doesn´t have to be, clichés are born because we somewhere love them, and used in the right moment and setting, with some creativity, they can be great and hold the story and character perfectly. But what I observe today in the bulk of seasonal anime are washed out uninspired works that not even really try. Like the 2-3 isekai per season, or the ecchi/comedy/harems. Like why? For who? But every once in a while, there are some nice surprises (Like Zombieland Saga a couple seasons ago) which keeps my spirits up and keeps me from going elitist who rate everything a 1. And for the summer season I have really high hopes for "Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e" which my favourite studio MAPPA have adapted. And since a while back, I have been archive browsing in the search for hidden gems. And every so often, I stumble over a great piece :)

How about you? How do you feel about it?

You are probably right, already seen some using that in the shows defense ;) but as you say, just because that particular one wasn´t used it doesn´t excuse the absolute lazy use of the rest.

You make me sleepy Zzzzzz

Yeah, we are agreeing on many points just differ in how we score. Anyway, thanks for your hot take. Isekai is getting more and more popular so I guess we have more shitty series to look forward. There's that new one next season lol Arifureta. People say this is the new "best" isekai, almost acting as if Shield Hero doesn't exist anymore.
papsoshea Jun 26, 3:29 PM
I dunno dude. Kenja is run of the mill isekai for me. This is more comparable with stupid fun shows like Fairy Tail in my opinion. I've read a few reviews on Kenja and saw some hot takes that are interesting. But I don't see this near the level that Shield is on. Give me your hot take on Kenja.

I cannot really call that author a professional writer at all. I'm pretty sure he wrote it up for quick cashgrabs.

If you're talking about the future regarding shows like this, then I don't really see an end to all of this. Cause money talks big in the anime industry, so for the most part, as long as the sales are profitable and the works draw interest to the more gullible audience, shows like this are likely gonna keep getting made every year.
Mattinator95 Jun 26, 11:06 AM
yep its one of those films thats overlooked a lot due to the slow pace
Mattinator95 Jun 26, 10:39 AM

Mattinator95 Jun 26, 10:11 AM
the western and cowboy aspect sealed it for me . love a western especially the old style spaghetti westerns plus the things you mentioned usually i get uncomfortable when depicting the slavery . cant remember what film it was but years ago at school i watched a slave film where they are on a boat where the salves are the ones that do the rowing it was either history or English class ....
Mattinator95 Jun 26, 9:55 AM
so any reason why you named you profile after ones of the best films in 2012 or just because you like it too and django and fox is cool
