Both shows are steeped heavily in the Shinto spiritual realm and have protagonists who serve as spiritual mediums between us and the “spirits.” Both are excellent shows!

Both these series are about father-daughter relationships involving surrogate fathers attempting to raise a child under tough circumstances. One of these shows is a mushy kids cartoon that takes place in a fantasy world run by monsters who eat humans and the other is a fucking masterpiece.

Usagi Drop and Wolf Children are both masterpieces about the difficulties of raising a child. Both have unique artwork, exceptional characters and stories, and while Usagi Drop is more simplistic and easy to follow, it's an anime that doesn't get enough credit! So, if you loved Wolf Children, WATCH IT!

The other recommendation that comes as no surprise to anybody: Coywboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. While the setting and stories are very different, they star the same male lead voice actor and have a very similar energy about them. They are serious action stories that know when not to take themselves too seriously and have fun. The shows have fantastic characters and are extremely addictive. I would have put Trigun together with these to form a trio, but that's not a possibility unfortunately.

Yep. Let's just get this one out of the way. This is easily the most compatible recommendation pair you can find in the world of anime. They're both really solid space western shows with strong male characters, one's a bounty hunter (Cowboy Bebop) and the other's got a bounty on his head (Trigun). They both travel the world and/or galaxy picking up new crewmates along the way and causing mayhem down the road. These two are totally different shows, but feel so similar that I was genuinely surprised they weren't written by the same writers.

They're both solid series with tons of style involving gang violence. Both have solid artwork and sound design, but Banana Fish in particular is exceptionally well written! Banana Fish also has the substance that K lacks.
