How are things?

We haven't spoken to each other in 5 years, lol. If you don't remember who I am, my username used to be "Working_Designs."

I'm looking for something unique and interesting in anime. I'm well aware of the fact that a great many pieces of entertainment these days are made as a business, aimed at making the highest amount of profit for least effort - anime is no exception. What I'm looking for is those few shows, those very few shows that have the creative spark in them, have great art direction in both drawing style and animation, and most importantly of all, a good story.

To be honest, that's exactly what I am trying to do, while also exporing new genres of Anime, all while finding ones I actualy like while watching each one till the end, as I think/hope that each Anime might get somewhat good, I mean you never now unless you actually watched them till the end, do you? ;)

Also i found something like this here somewhere in your Animelist
NEEDS DISCUSSION
, and'd love to talk about it with you, if you don't mind that is.

Also I'd wanted to recommend you an -in my opinion, one of the best Anime I've seen till this day, and as you might think I'm just your average little young Anime watching kiddo, what's based solely on my age could be quite true, and I can totally understand people that watch Anime longer than I breathed air through my lungs on this planet here could potentionally treat me like one, though over the years of watching Anime after coming across the Anime whcih I'd like to recommend to you, the way I looked at Anime changed drastically and my tastes began to become quite picky, which let also my score get closer to 3 per Anime I've watched. The Anime I'm talking about is none other than,

It is in my opinion one of the best Anime I've come across, and I'm sure you could come to like it too, though it isn't for everyone, as it hase a rather unique atmosphere, not much action -exactely what kids these days dislike- and a very slow start. I'd say you perhaps need up to 20 episodes until you get really into it, depending how much you end up liking it.
I hope I wasn't bothering yo with this reply, and hope December the 23rd wasn't the last time you'll be visiting this website, though as you aren't obliged to come to this website, are you? :)
Also I hope I didn't bother you with this comment.
Still hope from hearing from you some time soon, as I'd be really interested in discussing Mushishi, and perhaps, by any chance, even Monster with you.
Kind regards, Florian.

OMG I did the same as you did... I thought "yeh I will copy and refresh later, cuz my internet is slow right now" and boooooom I forgot >.>' Now a while has passed and much busy things in life distracted me, including a holiday. But... here we go again:
________________________________________

Mostly it happens when my bf suggest to watch an anime he likes very much. But I am really sceptically over it and I stay like that while watching. So he's like "Stop complaining, neko! Just enjoy!".

DBZ will never be my cup of tea. Sad but true XD But... did you enjoy it?

Oh believe me, I know I got autism. Sadly, I am very sure.
But you might think: autism = robotic, asocial numb-nut. A.k.a. an extremely mentally retarded person. Well, not even near all of us are like that XD
Even tho I am very good socially, I have many problems you don't see on the outside. I have lot's of problems learning and working on school. I am very bad in projects and big assignments and exercises. I don't see what's important or not and I easily lose track of where to find answers. Also I am very slow. Not to forget: I also got ADHD and without my medicine for my concentration I wouldn't get anything done at all XD

(Note: my kind of autism has a specific name: PDD-nos.
Tell me if you want to know which of the characteristics I got from the list on this wikipedia page. As you can see, I don't care who knows what I have or don't have. Else I wouldn't put it up on a public comment.)

And about psychology... I don't know how it works in your country, but in The Netherlands there is a great distance between the low level studies and the high level studies. It's not impossible to come as high as psychology, but it depends on how smart you are and how long you are willing to take for it. It would take me years and years to get there and with the above listed facts that I am bad at school... the point is, if I am bad at school, am I willing to go to that much trouble. "If you want it badly enough, you can do it, if you are willing to work for it" It's already hard to fit in normal education now, so if I would spend half my life on it, it would work out, but I am not willing to do that. There are also times in life when you need to be satisfied with the things you got. It's not like I can't be happy without it ^^

Hey, that's funny XD I almost got to Gamescom last year too. It was supposed to fit in our holiday week to Berlin, but in the end we decided not to do it.
I am still looking for the Umineko manga. I almost had one of the omnibus manga for €30, but I didn't have enough money at that moment... so sad, because it was such a good deal! x<

Yeh, I played Umineko VN for a little over 20 hours now and than I got on a haitus as to this moment and a little while more. I am just taking it easy with it and have my time. It's not like it's getting better or worse with time anyway.
If the anime did not existed then I would never know of it and what it can and will be capable of, so I still have no regrets of watching and liking the anime XD That's why it's still one of my favorites.

I bet I would really like to exchange thoughts, but let's wait till I have read more of it.

Hm, I still find the artwork quality to be very good. Sure, it looked better in the beginning, but it still maintains a level I would call "good animation".

I had hard time getting into the show at first (exeggerating a little bit here, but sometimes English just doesn't work for my trail of thoughts). It starts out much more depressing than it later becomes and I was not quite prepared for that mood.

I think I sound way more critical than I really am, most of the negative I mentioned here and in my review is actually more nitpicking. It's still a good anime, I just feel that it coul've been even better, they wasted potential. I guess that's a good thing, since I care about the product.

I have no idea how to link my review as I can't seem to open it separately, so I'll just copypaste it:
TrashDax Jul 23, 2015 3:40 PM
I finished Attack on Titan.
I liked it, though it had some flaws.
Maybe you're interested in my review of it (that would be convenient, so I wouldn't need to write everything twice ;) ).
TrashDax Jul 20, 2015 11:36 AM
Haha, no problem. There's no need to hurry, I'm not planning to die soon. ^^
TrashDax Jul 17, 2015 8:32 AM
Hello there, I just started another one of your recommendations, Attack on Titan. This has to be one of the rare cases I like the English title better.

I've seen 5 episodes so far and, just like you said you were, I am pleasantly surprised. The artwork has movie quality in my eyes, I never expected that. I also really like the Opening, gets you hyped.

I can't really judge the characters yet, but they seem okay to me. Eren developed rather quickly into the person he is now. That would be the only problem I have at this point, there were so many time skips that it feels pretty rushed. I would have liked to see more of the military training. The only character that feels out of place is "Potatoe Girl" (though I can't bring myself to dislike her, she's adorable).

Youre right, my first language is french. Im from Canada. :) Your french aint bad ! (Well your sentence lol)

Im glad you went back to watching anime, there's some that are masterpieces in my opinion. ;) And yes, madoka did really great in only 12 episodes.. But for me its a plus cause I have difficulties watching long anime. If there's alot of episode I always end up discouraged lol. I feel like long anime tend to get boring episodes, fillers or just acts that dont bring anything to the story. So thats why alot of my animes dont have much more than 24 episodes. If you have something thats longer than that but is amazing to suggest, dont hesitate!

And I have yet to find an anime that gives me the same vibe as Higurashi. It was creepy and awesome. I have to admit I like vengeance plot too..

To continue my answer full of jumps in subjects and randomness, I know what Umineko is. But, tbh, I rely on reviews quite a lot (maybe I shouldnt) and alot of people didnt like it at all. Also, I remember when I first started watching anime I've watched like 5 episodes of it and just went '' wtf '' cause it was really complicated, but its been years so I dont know if it really is... And an other one from him called Ookami Kakushi doesnt have great reviews either so meh. I think I'll just go read his mangas instead of watching the animes.
AnotherAmorFati Jul 6, 2015 11:31 AM
Ok so the begin sorry if my english sounds weird sometimes since its not my first language.

And I totally agree, the song memme gets stuck in my head too! I have watch the video multiples times too fully understand (Im pretty syreyou got the message behing it right ). I also have the song in my phone and listens to it often. I dont know, I find the song really nice and cant get any other ones that are similar and gives the same vibe. I'm also in love with th antagonist, as I always am lol.

Anyway, Ill do my best to explain why I liked Higurashi and Madoka but I cant really put the finger on exactly WHY those are the best ones in my opinion. I have watched Madoka on netflix and it blew my mind. The fact that it started off really cute and went completly different and dark was something that I really enjoyed. It was exciting! Also, since I have liked dark stories since forever this is another reason why I enjoyed it. Plus, if the dark story is psychological its a +++++. My favorites movies, series, books and animes are always the one that involves the mind, the emotions, the individuals etc. And eh, I like blood too. The anime had a GOOD story (wich alot of anime dont) that captivated me and the tragedy feeling was being well executed.

So with that one that blew my mind, I searched for more like that. I found Higurashi, wich I liked for kinda the same reasons: cute but gets pretty dark, blood, good story, mystery, I reaaaally liked seeing the developpement in the characters mind. My favorite act was the Shion one. I found it AWESOME! It was the most developped one with the reasons behind it and all. I enjoyed the first season more than th second one, wich I found less exciting and little cheesy at times. So to say I'd add that I like the good plot twits in both Higurashi and Madoka.

But I wouldnt say its because I like horror, cause its not really that. I have watched Another, Shiki and Corpse party for exemples and didnt really enjoy. It lacked the psychological side and plot twists I guess... Anyway, I hope I kinda helped you understand why I liked those shows. :)

( And the reason why I love me!me!me! since its pretty much the same reasons why.. ;) )
TrashDax Jul 4, 2015 2:23 PM
Too bad you didn't enjoy it much. I took a look at my list, because I actually forgot how I rated it, I gave it a 7.

I have to be honest, it has been quite a while since I last saw this and I don't know if that rating is clouded by the time that has passed or not. I should probably give it a rewatch.

Kite aired on a channel called Vox, who used to show Anime occasionally at night. They had a really random programm. They marathoned Evangelion and Lodoss (Lodoss ran until almost 6am), on another day they showed just one episode of Gun Smith Cats and a hentai movie I forgot I've seen until right now. They were showing the "mature" stuff, Ghost in the Shell, MD Geist and so on.

It was one of the first darker anime I saw, which kinda impressed me. There was much more sex and violence than I was used too. I found Sawa to be a rather tragic character, her boyfriend was kinda bland though. Akai was a real bastard and I did want to see him get what he deserved.

It really did feel more like watching a Hentai than watching a "normal" Anime. Kinda like an artsy French movie, only they can afford to show hardcore scenes as they don't have to convince actual actors to do them.

Thinking about it, it could probably have worked better as a mini-series (MAL says it consists of 2 OVA, but I only remember it being one movie), maybe 5 or 6 episodes.

The most modern thing I've probably experienced is the original Wii. There's plenty of affordable games for it now, so I've picked a few up on eBay last fall. Although, I haven't played it much, because I really don't want to play video games anymore for some reason. I play maybe 1 or 2 games a year.

As for that Tetris theme you posted, I actually really like 8-bit chip tunes, but I don't really classify it as "Electronic Music," because to me, it's not the same thing.

As for Anime, I just finished watching an OVA called "Carol," which certainly wasn't any masterpiece, but it definitely wasn't bad either.

As for the Oculus Rift, I must say I'm rather interested in what that's like myself. However, I heard recently that they dropped support for Linux & Mac(I'm a Linux user,) and if I can't use it on Linux when it launches, then I guess I'll never use it.

Well I have check our anime comptability wich was very high, and your list has alot of animes I have watched or I want to watch. And in your favorites you have Higurashi and Madoka wich are also in my favorites. Higurashi is my number one tbh! And I also really liked Attack On Titan. ;)
Its rare to see people with the same taste as me. :)

And to answer your question, yes, my profile picture is from the video me!me!me! by Teddyloid. ;)

Yeah, I love collecting stuff in physical form. I typically only play games on consoles, because I'm not a fan of most PC games, and most of my favorite games are console-only, and all my older 480i and lower resolution games MUST be played on a CRT TV, no exceptions. Even the Wii, with the official component cables, look incredible on a CRT. Same with DVDs.

And if you were wondering, no, I don't listen to electronic music of any kind. I spent my entire childhood playing my parents/grandparents vinyl records, and I completely ignored all the contemporary music of the time.

A neighbor of mine had a yard sale last weekend, and I bought a lot of book from him. It turns out, that he embraced digital, and everything he reads is on his iPad now. I, on the other hand, could never abandon physical media, as its something I enjoy more than anything in the world.

Thanks for responding.

I started watching Anime in the early 90s, watching both what I saw on TV, and the VHS tapes I rented from the store. I still remember the first time I rented "My Youth in Arcadia," which I loved, and it was my introduction to Captain Harlock.

I have always preferred the art styles and animation of older Anime, and I've never been too keen on modern art styles, but that's probably because I'm not into modern things in general. I don't like moe slice of life that much, and I'm not into modern ecchi, because the breasts are often too big for my tastes these days, whereas girls in ecchi Anime in the 80s had more realistic proportions.

For example, I'm a musician, and I mostly listen to music from the 50s & 60s, and a little bit of 70s & 80s, but I usually won't listen to anything newer than that.

I'm a bit more open with video games, but I still prefer the ones from the 8/16 bit era the best, because that's what I grew up with, although I've recently been looking into some gems on the Wii. I own nearly 40 consoles, and roughly 800 games, but I rarely play video games anymore.

Well, I love anime. However, I’ve been thinking that nowadays anime is so bad (and still gets popular nevertheless) that I started believing that I could do better myself if I tried. But I never did it.

And one certain day, I found some sketches of a girl that were posted on the Creative board that really inspired me. I kinda came up with a back-story for the said girl right there on the spot. But I never thought I’d actually ever write it. But then, as days passed, I kept thinking about the story, things that could happen, lines, scenes, lots of them. They were so many and so interesting that at some point I thought: I have to write these ideas down. And so, I made a plan for the story, and liked it so much that I started writing (I had some free time anyway). And it was so fun, I just kept writing. It was like playing with dolls or acting. It was really enjoyable and I was so enthusiastic about the result (I thought I had no talent and that it would suck but it ended up being much better than I ever thought I could do and I fell in love with my own story XD), so as I was saying, I was so enthusiastic about it that I even wrote a sequel.

How about you?
