Right from the beginning, it's nothing I would be amazed of, although I don't think it deserves a score this small.
In order to find some hidden gem, I came across this piece. Unfortunately, it wasn't a gem as I originally thought. It was more of a conglomeration of fast pacing and a leaky script. Maybe to mention that it was made by Madhouse, so it wasn't that bad, because Madhouse is generally known for spawning a masterpiece next to a masterpiece. But there is no space to relativize it here.
No wonder. This show was less than an hour long so they couldn't cram
...
a coherent plot into such a short time slot.
The main characters are two scientists who we don't really know anything about. We don't know how they got the job they do and what the show is all about. We don't know their backgrounds, so we miss a lot of context. The only thing we know is that one of them caught the demon virus, which is the main theme of the whole show. For some selfless reason, he manages to keep him at bay and suppress it to an extent.
A girl who is irrelevant to the plot gets in our way, and if she dies, no one will notice, even through that she looks like a main character. She is hounded by mafia for some reason, maybe because her grandfather knows the truth about their godfather and they want to get rid of them. And the godfather will eventually be the main boss - in both senses.
In essence, there are 2 parallel paths that are not connected to each other in any way, but the screenwriters set it up so that our main and infected hero gets involved in a rift with the mafia, in order to end up fighting.
I didn't even mention that the side jobs of the two characters, normally university teachers, was getting rid of infected people. And yet no one has given us any indication of the origin of the virus. That to find a cure method was possible because one of them was infected and wanted to get rid of the burden.
If it was any longer, it would definitely be a very interesting show. Like this, it's just a segment that starts from somewhere in the middle.
Sure, the animation was nice for the time. The theme and processing would suit the quality of Madhouse, so a huge plus and extra points.
I wouldn't judge it as trash, but it won't win everyone's heart. Anyway, give it a shot.

Akame ga Kill! is an anime of everything but coherence. Sometimes I didn't know if the story was taking place in some medieval ages, the modern era or the far future. Everything was interconnected so much so that it ended up being a hodgepodge. The main character, apart from his screen-time, has no other prerequisites for being the main character of the plot. He's just some village brat about whom we know virtually nothing, and he demonstrates his strength as if he had undergone years of strenuous and rigorous training that no one had mentioned to us beforehand. In the end, everything crystallizes and, as
...
the title suggests, the protagonist is actually vaguely Akame. Lol, who would have thought that, right? Note that, I'm writing this after almost two years I was watching it, so if it will be incorrect in some ways, lynch me.
The characters were not spared in this show. After all, human life had absolutely no value there. Many of them were only episodic players, while others were integral holders of the entire "plot". Enemies ran towards them like on a treadmill, mostly they were corrupt shitheads for whom extinguishing a human life was like stepping on a bug. After all, they also had a distinctive appearance. You immediately recognized whether it was a character who spoke at all or a redundant being that was significantly smaller than others and malnutritioned. And if there were "beings" like that around, you would immediately know what was going to happen to them. People were dying and dying. Until it started making absolutely no sense smh.
Therefore, I infer that either the authors were complete idiots or complete geniuses, because nothing in between exists as an option. It was brilliantly stupid.
But the anime as a whole shows us what team cohesion can look like and what the bond between individuals is like. Although it didn't make any sense in the end, I personally enjoyed it. The ending was original, and I've only encountered such a bleak ending in one other anime I've seen so far.
Normally I'd have mixed feelings about this, but it's important to understand the concept of this show and mention that it's not for everyone. Consider it if you want a quality and exciting story or entertainment that doesn't require you to think.
Originality was the main thing that convinced me about this. Not every show has to present a coherent story that is chiseled to absolute perfection in order for people to like it. Mindless fun is what the anime concept is all about, and it's been that way since the beginning.

A show of the caliber of Slice of Life has one fundamental problem. It's either too boring or it can grab your attention and make you watch the whole thing for sitting. This is a good example of how it can be considered a masterpiece, even though it doesn't have any acclamations around.
It doesn't even show any unnecessary fanservice which I find very boring and I tend to avoid this kind of shows.
Women, specifically here, are better written than anywhere else. And it's a really big problem that women in other shows are usually just redundant characters who lack intellect, emotions and perception
...
of the world in general.
The main character does not meet the classic clichés of this type of show. The premise was refreshingly original. That's maybe the thing I find pretty catchy on this.
As he built up some sort of relationship with each particular woman, I'm quite sad that he couldn't end up with each of them because each of them suited him in some way. And that was perhaps the disappointing part of this show that intoxicated me.
However, I may be inaccurate because I haven't seen that many Slice of Life shows yet, and therefore some weeb who is sophisticated in it will blame me.
Overally, yeah. The culmination through many intriguing paths, reverses and dialogues led us to an acceptable end. Although I would love to see a sequel, maybe it's good they cut it.

Even though I actively refused to watch it, I suddenly changed my mind when I got into it. Needless to say, I decided to give the 2022 show a 10/10. Pretty odd, isn't it? Well, kids nowadays rate the new commodity recklessly as they're not used to the old ones. Therefore, they cannot compare these two sempiternal enemies.
Stop scoffing around and get right to the point.
We are located, unexpectedly, in the world of Cyberpunk. The introduction of the MC is pretty frank, although we found ourselves in a dystopian world. As he goes through life, he finds himself with no way out. A determined struggler
...
who doesn't give a fuck, but still keeps his head up. As the time goes, his mom dies, he takes over her debt on himself and still stays strong. Everything changes when he finds the Sandevistan, a spinal auxiliary complement. Byzantine events make him involved with some unsavory thief chick who just wants to steal things and sell them afterwards. They fall in love. After that, he meets a bunch of other cyberpunks who will be completing his journey through.
Frankly, it aged well up to this point. We can see the protagonist in the stage of self-discovery. He discovers that he can use Sandevistan more times than is healthy, so he pretends to implant himself with more and more chromium. Unlike the others, the chromium implantation leaves him "with no after-effects" and thus begins to become voracious with that. This leaves him to the decadence of his mind, imperceptibly, but surely. Closer and closer to cyberpsychosis.
I find it hard to believe that they were able to cram so much of lore to just 10 episodes of which each one was unique. Sure, there were strong and weak moments. Sometimes a bore, sometimes a huge action.
While we witness many deaths of other cyberpunks who were perfectly described to us in a short amount time, we got introduced to some others who will accompany us to the very end. The split of the story to the two parts where in the meantime there is a jump to the next stage of life of our MC is pretty well carried out, and there's nothing left to explain.
By adding more chromium he is on the edge of cyberpsychosis and things have a huge momentum. Intrigues from all sides, betrayal of his own self, conflicted love. Adam Smasher even shows up on stage and there's final battle between him and our, on the verge of a nervous breakdown, MC.
Well, pretty unexpected end. Everybody dies except Lucy, the love of the main character's life, who at the very end gets her wish of a trip to the moon. This is what intrigued me the most, a diametrically different ending from the cliché ending stereotypes.
If you're not against futuristically executed shows, then I recommend it to you. In every other aspect it is perfection itself.

"Nemure, Akira. Nemure, Tetsuo."
To be honest, this show was pretty difficult to appraise. I was just sitting and watching, but couldn't get to the bottom of it. I didn't understand it at first, but then it dawned on me. You can call me a weenie, but the whole plot was pretty amorphous until the end, when the story got disentangled. I believe it was made this way intentionally as I rate it a masterpiece. The most unique and unpredictable piece of art, and I'm still being too euphemistic.
It's really bad it hadn't got more of screen-time, since it's the least thing this show deserves.
I
...
must not forget the revolutionary animation and also mention that the anime was created back in 1988, so it is completely innovative in every aspect. Another reason to not avoid it.
Hope everyone out there gets their hands on this gem.
10/10
Also, listen to the "Requiem OST"
