Well as bad as 4Kids is at butchering anime... I can't really say its a bad thing since 4kids did introduce me to anime in the first place...and I'm pretty confident in saying that I'm not the only one either.
I was introduced to anime by 4kids wayyy back, but now that I found the original Japanese dubbed ones, it makes the dubs look like CRAP (IMO). As long as they don't get anything popular, I'm okay with it. And, wow. I didn't know that 4Kids edit anime THAT much. o.O
But...
lol XD
My reaction was kinda similar to this. xD

on the bright side more people will be turned onto anime....
That's a bright side? I think we'll just get more narutards.

Really... wow. I thought I understood that 4kids wasn't "appreciated" 'round these parts but I wasn't expecting the beginnings of a NERDRAGE threadnought over a show that it seems about 25 people watched.
So what if 4kids license it? You'll still download and/or keep the fansubbed episodes illegally.
So what if they have to ink out a few guns? Blame your absurd American society where they feel they have to spend huge amounts of money to avoid censors and busybody parents breathing down their necks.
So what if they remove references to death? Hell becomes "Home For Infinite Losers"; Death becomes the nebulous "Shadow Realm"... this changes the plot how exactly?
So what if they change a few names here and there? The Japanese ones are going to get mangled by the VAs anyway, so why not save them the headache of cycling through different accents to get the nuances right and just give them something that an American can easily pronounce?
Does localisation (yes, it's localisation, not "butchering" - get over yourselves) offend you that much? Stop watching cartoons, go learn Japanese and buy the DVDs in their original language. That way, you can watch what you like and you have a marketable skill. Win-win.
Me? I'll just enjoy listening to their retinue of experienced voice actors and script writers who don't output like machine translators.
Uh actually their edits have nothing to do with American censor laws, it's just them being stupid and making ridiculous edits in attempt to make it overly kid friendly, Also Japan isn't much different in respects to censoring then America either. Japan has been on a moral censorship crusade for the last 10 years. Your lucky if you get to see panties anymore.
"Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act of 2005"...you live in the country and don't even know it's laws?...
yes because making Popo Blue, editing out guns, adding terrible rap music to openings, and changing cigarettes into loli pops. is clearly enforced by the FCC.

It's good to see them going back to broadcasting cartoons from japan.
If it wasn't for the show's they showed on Fox when i was in school, like one piece, mew mew power,do-re-me...ect.I would not be into stuff from japan today.
This will make the new generation anime fans as it did us.
I would say if you are over 11 you should not care what they show on TV..
Seriously it's called "4KIDS" NOT "4ADULTS" only a idiot would watch what this company broadcast expecting something unedited..and untouched..
Is America really that dumb?
lol 11 year-olds are kids......also adult anime fans in america hate 4kids for dumbing down good shows too ><

Honestly, the stupidity present in this thread is through the roof. You make it seem like 4kids doesn't have an audience to cater to, and that most of their actual dubs are horrible.
Without mentioning a re-dubbed opening song, can you people name me one other dub done by 4kids, other than One Piece, that has been technically bad. As in, translation and story (and, psst, Sailor Moon was DIC, not 4kids).
You kids haven't seen bad, you should go a knockin' on Nelvana's door.

It seems Shugo Chara! is the show people are the most afraid of them getting. How many of you would watch that in English even if a good company like FUNimation acquired it? Sure, I don't want 4kids to get Shugo Chara! either, but that's because I actually watch English dubs of anime (That and my favorite part about the show, Utau and her love for Ikuto, would very likely get censored in some way) and would want to see that show done by a company I trust.
It's just ironic that people are always complaining about things like this when it wouldn't change your life at all (aside from the rants in topics like these) if you didn't even know this was happening, or if it was happening in a different way.
Oh, and everyone hating on FUNimation needs to cut the shit. Their dubs are actually good, but you people can't see that because you're too busy fapping to the Japanese language. Damn weeaboos.

hopefully 4kids can start doing good dubs again
I doubt that will ever happen again.
