The Fantasia Bunko Thanksgiving 2023 event announced an anime adaptation of Riku Nanano's Koujo Denka no Kateikyoushi (Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter) light novel on Saturday.

Nanano began penning the fantasy story on the Kakuyomu website in October 2017. Kadokawa acquired the novel and published the first volume under its Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint in December 2018, featuring illustrations by cura. The 15th volume was released on August 19.

Shounen Ace Plus serialized a manga adaptation by Tamura Mutou in September 2019. Kadokawa shipped the third volume on April 26.

J-Novel Club licensed the light novel for digital release in English in September 2021. The ninth volume went on sale on September 14, with the tenth volume scheduled to be released on November 30.

Synopsis
After failing the final exam for his dream job at the royal court, promising young sorcerer Allen wants nothing more than to retreat to a simple life in the countryside. Unfortunately for him, he can't even afford the train fare! His only solution is to get a job, but his one lead is anything but modest—Duke Howard, one of the kingdom's most powerful nobles, needs a private tutor for his daughter Tina.

Despite her academic brilliance, Tina is incapable of casting even a single spell. To make matters worse, entrance exams for the prestigious Royal Academy are fast approaching, and magical aptitude is mandatory! Can Allen use his unique brand of spellcasting to help Tina overcome her magical impairment, a mystery that not even the kingdom's finest sorcerers have been able to solve? And does her father, the duke, even want him to? (Source: J-Novel Club)

@Toneworks he was baited into doing something that resulted in his failure. It wasn't rigged and it wasn't due to his lack of ability. He's Ikki Kurogane or Tatsuya Shiba. He has unconventional strength. Genius level abilities under a very limited scope.

@Ramkec

It was rigged by people that hate him.

How is he a promising sorcerer but he failed the magic academy exam, is he a scammer?

This is a fun and cute novel, but god damn does it have terrible writing. Still one of my guilty pleasures though.

@RedChrome

i mean, god damn, could a setting be any damn lazier? its like, the instant you decide on it as your setting you already have a long ass checklist of things you are basically required to add to your series, dumb ass king, dumb ass knights, dumb ass bandits, copy paste monters, dungeons, labyrinths, mysterious forests, the one knight girl, demon lord... guh.. every fucking show...

i really liked that despite being medieval, The Legendary Hero is Dead completely made up its monsters and broke a few of these tropes

i doubt this show will, but well see i guess

As long as it's decent I'll watch.

@MadanielFL I am aware but I usually avoid the light novel if a manga version exists and faithfully adapts and doesn't skip content from the light novel and also I only read light novels and when they are officially translated in the west and are better than the manga

For some reason I haven't read the manga even though I usually read this type of thing . Interesting
You shouldn't be reading the manga when the actual source is the light novel...

@EcchiGodMamster I'm wondering that too, don't they ever get tired ??

@Yubisoft, I wasn't angry, you are wrong again, and you are not polite in any way.

@Memore It was never my intention to bother you , we are just having a normal conversation . Pay more attention because I said

. Also before i leave, when you post comments like the Oh my God. Another "so needed" work gets anime. you should expect not only polite comments like mine but toxic and angry comments like a mature person and not suddenly act overly defensive towards someone who has a conversation that doesn't share your opinion or you are unable to counter an argument. Have a nice day and I will be sure to not bother (?) you again

@Yubisoft This was mainly due to the fact that before the show premiered, a lot of the news was listing the various bishonens and their VAs.

@RobertBobert Even though I don't read BL works or watch bl anime , I am very surprised(and somehow not very surprised at the same time)that there were people who acted like this considering how popular Yuri on Ice has become now .

Oct 14, 2023 9:32 AM by Yubisoft

@Yubisoft, I read them you are wrong again. And I never watch or read the works that I don't like. Please, leave me alone. Your aggression and tone towards me are frightening.

Oct 14, 2023 9:29 AM by Memore

@Yubisoft I know of several shows that people criticized as mediocre or cash cows before they were announced, but then it suddenly became a hit. For example, Yuri on Ice was at one time expected as an all-male hasubendo bait.

Oct 14, 2023 9:21 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert Agreed . In conclusion people shouldn't judge something when they know nothing about the source material or judging an anime before watching it or just ignore if they don't like something

Oct 14, 2023 9:18 AM by Yubisoft

@Memore The vast majority of people who have commented the same comment as yours literally haven't read not even one chapter of the source material or have read one chapter , rating it with 1 and then dropping it just because they have an unexplained hatred towards projects like the above . A book or anime doesn't only shine form it's story but also from it's characters , art quality etc. You people shouldn't judge a book (anime in this case ) by it's cover .....

Oct 14, 2023 9:14 AM by Yubisoft

@Yubisoft, you are wrong. I NEVER GOT HAPPY of such works to be animated. I simply don't understand why the same works get adapted. They are like clones of one another, nothing new here at all.

Oct 14, 2023 9:08 AM by Memore

@Memore Serious question (the question of course it's not only directed at you but for all the people who have the same mentality) . Why do you become so angry ,sad and disappointed about simple romance light novels that get anime from studios that never hurt anyone in any way yet you don't comment anything or are extremely happy when animation projects for some of the most degenerate manga are created like Goblin Slayer , Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi , World’s End Harem and I am mainly talking about people haven't read the source materials . No offense to the fans of the manga i mentioned but I will never understand why such hostility for simple light novels like the above ......

Oct 14, 2023 9:02 AM by Yubisoft

@RobertBobert, thanks! I would like to see more real life adaptations and not these ones.
