Spin-off Manga 'Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun' Gets Short TV Anime in Fall 2023

The official website for the Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) television anime announced on Thursday that Iro Aida's spin-off manga Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun (After-School Hanako-kun) is receiving a four-episode short television anime. The website also revealed the production staff, returning cast, key visual (pictured above), and an announcement promo. The anime is scheduled to premiere on October 13 at 1:58 a.m. on TBS.

The spin-off manga began serialization on pixiv comic's PFantapy web magazine in February 2018. Square Enix shipped the first volume in August 2019.

The original manga began in GFantasy magazine in December 2014. The 20th volume was released on August 25.

Lerche adapted the original manga into a 12-episode television anime in Winter 2020. Funimation simulcast the anime with English subtitles and dub.

Synopsis
The ghostly Hanako-kun and his mortal assistant, Nene Yashiro, usually have their hands full resolving various supernatural incidents in Kamome Academy, but how do they spend their time when they get a break from all that? Come and watch the characters of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun play games, get sick, change genders, and discover world-shaking secrets during their laid-back after-school hours! (Source: Yen Press)

Honestly after so much waiting, I'm mixed, but according to the Twitter announcement it's only a first draft, so I'm hopeful that after this spin-off, we have the main manga reboot or a season 2 of the main anime

Maybe they're just probing for interest in the franchise.
