No other genres? Have you never watched shonen, spokon, CGDCT and idol shows? Any mainstream genre goes through this, it's normal. The question is whether you buy it or not.

dont ask me a question you know the answer to, i've seen more anime than you have

no other genre has this many shows that feel like they straight up plagiarize eachother, you're just arguing with me to argue

i stand by what i said, and im done here
Oh, the arguments of the level "I watched more anime than you, so I know more than you", lol. Dude, I repeat, you're just trying to clumsily rationalize your personal taste dislike for fantasy anime, which you can't do because it's a matter of taste, not logic. This is perfectly evident in the way you instantly stumbled when trying to come up with a counterargument to other overused genres that I recalled.

It's not about cuteness per se. Shota content has long been quite popular, especially in the form of the so-called OneShota or Straight Shota tropes. Plus, it makes writing childhood characters especially moe.

I can easily understand that you don't like this particular setting. But your main mistake is that you try to rationalize your own tastes, as if you do not understand that it is quite normal to have personal disgust, even if it is contrary to general trends. For example, I hate political yuri. But it is popular and in demand. What can I do? Being salty all the time?

I have faith in this but only because despite the reincarnation isekai angle, it looks kinda cute. Also, has anyone else noticed the spike in popularity of shota protagonist's in male-geared isekai, or am I just imagining things?

someone i know actually mentioned this lol... its a good excuse to make the characters extra kawaii lol

idk man

when you've seen a King in a castle with knights, a mansion, a market, a village, a dungeon, a labryinth, a mysterious forest, a group of bald bandits, a demon lord, goblins, orcs, dragons, rabbit monsters, wolves, lizardmen, elves, dwarves, adventurers, CGI horses and ofc a short hair male lead who never loses 500 fucking times, shows start blending together unless the show really does something to make it stand out

these shows go so beyond generic to the point where some are just borderline plagierism, i've never felt that way about ANY generic type of anime and the medieval era just makes it that much easier to make the same basic copy paste template... once you've decided on it as the setting, you ALREADY have like 20 things you can add with no sense of creativity whatsoever

and the worst part is i didnt even name everything

theres no other setting in the history of anime that has THIS MANY THINGS in common, its just gotten beyond lazy, im waiting for an ancient egypt isekai or some made up world

I understand what you want to say. My point is that this is a very popular and simple network, so they will exploit it until people are frankly sick of it. It's the same thing with the Victorian era in the past, people just get bored with Franco-British melodrama shows with the same aesthetic at some point. Personally, I don't care as long as the show can keep me interested. But I'm not the only person here.

i mean, those are based in Japan, why would they not be "overused"?...

if theyre going to use settings that aren't based on their country theres 100 others to choose from, why is it always the middle ages with the same monsters over and over and over? see my point?

and im serious when i say this, please dont say anything you know im not gonna respond to

You might as well expect a school or "Japanese" setting ban. It's too big a base.

Imagine if the industry just for one year decided to ban medieval/middle ages fantasy

Maybe we'd actually get a setting we haven't seen 300x times in the past 8 years

I'm sure as heck whoever is doing the character designs, do so for every seasonal isekai there is.
