Third Season of 'Chihayafuru' Recasts Characters

During the Chihayafuru week in Awara 2019 event on Sunday, two recasts were announced to replace the cast members who had died last year.

Kenta Miyake (Boku no Hero Academia) will replace Unshou Ishizuka as Hideo Harada, while Yoshino Ootori (Hajime no Ippo) will replace Toshiko Fujita as Taeko Miyauchi.

Morio Asaka is returning to helm the third season at Madhouse, which will begin airing this October. The three main cast members, Asami Seto, Mamoru Miyano, and Yoshimasa Hosoya are also reprising their characters as Chihaya, Taichi, and Arata, respectively.

Yuki Suetsugu began serializing the award-winning competitive karuta manga in Be-Love magazine in December 2007. Kodansha published the 41st volume on March 13, with the 42nd volume scheduled for a July 12 release.

I had been waiting for this announcement. Didn't think it would hurt so much :( I'm really going to miss Fujita and Ootori in their roles as Miyauchi-sensei and Harada-sensei. The new seiyuus gonna have a huge gap to fill :'(

ahh, harada sensei and miyauchi sensei has a great seiyuu. i hope who is the replacment them can follow.

Oh man, Ishizuka and Fujita were kind of youngish for Japanese seniors (not even 70), sad to see them go. Hope it's not too awkward for the replacements.

Sad to see the previous wonderful seiyuus getting replaced but here’s to hoping the new additions to the Cast will be just as great!

RIP to those two Seriyuus mentioned.
I really had little to no idea that they were already passed away last year. They will never be replaced what they've done in last two seasons.

All I know is that Unshou-san voiced Heihachi Mishima from the Tekken series. But still, I gave respects to Ootori-chan for voicing Taeko in the last two seasons.

In a brighter side, I'm glad that Chihayafuru is back. :) Can't wait for October!
