I would not say Western (mostly English) songs cannot be mega hit and there have been many of mainstream mega hit English songs in this 30 years but yeah most Japanese have very little knowledge of English and probably English songs are having harder time to become mainstream hit in Japan compared with countries where many people have at least basic knowledge of English.

If you want to know what music is popular in Japan you probably should see yeraly iTunes ranking or karaoke or radio ranking or some thing those and definitely not CD sales.

Most Japanese never heard of the vast majority of songs from yearly Top selling CDs but iTunes or karaoke or radio rankings largely coincide with what is widely known/popular in Japan.

That song is really a big hit. It's topping on various digital song charts. Probably, the stock of physical CD's is so low or that the ones liking the song are not fond of physical singles.

I didn't see it listed when I checked the official site last week, so I didn't list it here (wanted to confirm before doing so).

I don't know it would be used for it if not for comment that I read on youtube. Well both series is from Bushiroad and I'm happy that band in Bandori have cross the franchise.
