Manga 'Citrus' Receives Anime Adaptation

Along with the anime announcement of Netsuzou TRap, the joint interview of manga authors Naoko Kodama and Saburouta has also revealed on Tuesday that an anime adaptation of manga Citrus is in production.

Synopsis
Fashionable Yuzu imagined the first day at her new school she transferred to after her mother's remarriage a bit differently; she didn't know it'd be an ultra-strict and conservative girls' school. So instead of a sweet high-school romance, she butts heads with the stern student council president Mei—who turns out to be her new step sister. And she has to learn that hate and attraction are often not that far apart. (Source: Yuri Project)

Citrus is drawn by Saburouta and has been serialized in Comic Yuri Hime magazine since November 2012. Ichijinsha has published five compiled volumes of the manga with the 6th volume scheduled for December 27. Seven Seas has been publishing the manga in North America since December 2014 with the 5th volume released on September 6.

Nah i'll pass. This is easily one of the most frustating romance manga i've read in recent times (only a little less bad than good ending or seishun change). The characters are either retards or psychopaths, the plot is punishingly stupid, and the general tendency to walk in circle without any meaningful change. Almost like marrying maria sama ga miteru with some intense smut josei.

Definitely going to watch, although not a big fan of Mei's attitude.
Knew it's going to get anime adaption someday. Hopefully the art will be beautiful, like in manga.

Reading through this thread again, I sort of get where people are coming from with the concern of both adaptations being heavy on drama, but that's exactly why I feel like Citrus and NTR are really good choices for Yuri adaptations.

The most popular Yuri anime right now are light, fluffy, SOL, ie Sakura Trick or Aoi Hana. They're not bad, but they also don't really have much "oomph". I think something like Citrus or NTR that have a lot of more impactful "Yuri" content (ie kissing, touching, and in NTR's case actual sex) along with heavy amounts of drama (cheating, love triangles, OMG ANGST) will help bring a lot more fans to the genre. My issue with most Yuri has always been how it's either too tame or it's just porn, so adaptations that sort of swing in the middle are a nice change :P

Still so excited x_x I really enjoyed the Citrus manga and after I heard about the anime adaptation I ordered the physical copies for Vol 1 and 2... can't wait for next year Yuri hype!!

The description both makes me hopeful and cynically apathetic(because "all girls school" is very prevalent in baiting).

Hmmm… I did read Hot Tails (which has the "yuri" tag), though I consider that Girl Friends (which only has "shoujo ai") is still more "legitimate" even if it's far tamer.

I'll probably pass on both the series. It doesn't sound too interesting nor do I think they have a chance to be something exceptional.
