After seeing the new promotional material for this, I have to take back my earlier disdain, this seems like it has a lot of soul put into it; it could become the sleeper hit of the season. They are taking a very interesting angle from a worldbuilding standpoint.

As soon as I saw mecha, my fantasy adventure boner was gone...
I'm still giving it a shot tho, we'll see.

Idk why but this just gives me a No Game No Life feel...

The colour pallette in the visual is pretty obviously reminiscent of NGNL, and the character looks like a Kazami Kazuki / Shiro hybrid.

Idk why but this just gives me a No Game No Life feel... but the song is pretty good, I'm kinda in the middle for this one.

You're confused. I'm not saying Meikyuu or Rakuen are among the 'bust animu evur hur dur' I'm saying that in adaptation terms they are masterpieces. Because apart from Meikyuu only Steins;Gate in history has ever improved on what the source material did. And Rakuen was at least its source's equal.

Neither Meikyuu or Rakuen are masterpieces as visual novels go, maybe low top 50s, but that has nothing to do with their adaptations being masterfully executed.

Grisaia no Kajitsu however is among the top 10 visual novels and that one they fucked up thoroughly.

Anyway, I'm just saying 8bit seem to be selectively capable of greatness, they just have the worst timing in the world, and get shafted by production committees/ IP holders (Kajitsu should have had the bare minimum of 24 episode funding and that shit is on NBC Universal Japan and Front Wing, not 8bit.)

hahahahaha grisaia a masterpiece???? are you kidding me???

If you don't know what you're talking about, keep your mouth shut, you'll make yourself look like a fool.

Grisaia no Kajitsu was the shit one, Meikyuu is the prequel story and Yuuji's background story 50-minute special that aired in spring.

Obviously you haven't seen it and need to pipe down.

While glancing at the Topic I only read "Anime" and "Lucifer" and almost jizzed my pants thinking for a moment we'd get a Hoshi no Samidare anime. Disappointment.

Mostly correct, though Grisaia no Meikyuu was a near-masterpiece and probably the only VN adaptation that improved on the source material in history.

hahahahaha grisaia a masterpiece???? are you kidding me??? maybe if you watch anime for a shitty plot, plot devices, plot armor, a harem and horid pacing and plot/character development. this is why all the anime these days is shit... everyone who played the vn automatically thinks this garbage is amazing... its not, seriously....

not quite sure about it , the PV didn't give much information , i'll give it a try but the direction and the Studio are quite meh

8bit has a terrible track record. They have yet to produce something truly good so I'm more than skeptical.

Though I'm not touching this with a bargepole, this looks truly uninspired.

Everyone shitting on 8bit even though Grisaia Mekyuu and Rakuen were superb.

What do you expect? If the first season of something is god-tier shit, then it stands to reason the remaining ones can shit gold and piss ambrosia and still be soiled by their forebear.

I don't even think it's unfair. Even if Meikyuu and Rakuen were great productions, they excuse 0% of Kajitsu's butchering.

And Absolute Duo was an outsourced cash-in, they had like a third of the studio working on that, the rest were working on Grisaia. Hell, most of the music was Windows 95-level randomized midi and some scenes barely had backgrounds. One fight scene in a mall mid-season was done in pitch black darkness just so they didn't have to draw any BG.

Soundtrack was just as decent as any other ecchi harem soundtrack.

There was never no scene with "no bg". There may have been crap bgs, but never a scene with no bg.

You can hate the show all you want, and it's not like AD was any semblance of a masterpiece, but coming up with shit arguments just for the sake of saying something bad about a show makes you look fucking foolish. Not even worth attempting to discuss this any further.

Well I will give it probably the 3 episode rule, although I was not captivated by Infinite Stratos and Absolute Duo, but who knows. Maybe third time's a charm.
